@tempest I'm not surprised you'd think that, but you're probably still annoyed that I dared to call you out on your victim-blaming bullshit and general attempts to draw attention to yourself.

      Dang! You caught me!

The correct response as a board mod would've been to tell whoever brought up this "concern" that they're an idiot.

Not justify it by going "MOD VOICE : WE DO NOT ENDORSE ATTACKS ON GAMES GUYS! STOP IT!"

Not sure how you guys don't get what @bored is saying.

@Wolfs posts in particular barely make any sense.

I mean, I have no real problem with Auspice, or anybody here, despite occasional appearances otherwise.

As Apos was kind enough to point out, I hate authority. Especially in shit like forums. It ALWAYS starts to get very 'subjective' and once 'tone control' starts it is a descent towards outright censorship and eventually death of discussion.

But, if there is some disgruntled group on the board trying to crucify Auspice, my complaints are independent of that, I assure you.

I'm not friends with any of you fucking people.

I'll be nice to you if I see you on a game though.

Obviously people just hate Auspice, and that's not actually a questionable decision.

You can't see it, can you.

      Your point? No.

I'm repeating my suggestion, because I think that had @Arkandel said it and not @Auspice this discussion would be happening differently.

I'll also note that this is the second time someone has cried foul at @Auspice using ModVoice, and the rate is seeming disproportionate to when Ark does.

I mean, FFS people, she was just trying to point out that someone reached out to her as forum moderation to let her know that someone was allegedly planning to use MSB as a way to bring the game down. This is exactly the kind of information you'd expect a moderator to receive, and if it were your favorite game you'd appreciate someone getting involved to try to stop the space from being used as an attack platform for selfish purposes.

My Spider-Senses are tingling. In my experience, this may not be so much a complaint about the use of ModVoice, but that the use of ModVoice is possibly the justification for a round of mud slinging.

      Wow, so strange.

Auspice used 'mod voice' once in reference to a game she was actively defending as a player, and people (not me) called her on it.

Obviously people just hate Auspice, and that's not actually a questionable decision.

The complaint IS about 'mod voice'.

Arkandel isn't running around using mod voice in trivial situations.

      Auspice and Ganymede are.

So yeah, it's not surprising they're getting reactions he isn't.

You trying to make it seem like it's something else is just nonsense.

      @tempest What did we moderate?

...So you are saying, necro'ing a 2 week old thread to randomly go "GUYS DON'T PLOT AGAINST THIS GAME" isn't a form of moderation? Even more curious when the thread in question had been very mild.

@tempest The 'Mod Voice' isn't some magical thing. It's just a way to separate what we think as regular posters and when we want to make it clear we're speaking on behalf of the forum itself.

We did all have a conversation about that game's allegations about MSB beforehand. We agreed on the obvious (i.e. that this didn't come from us, wtf).

What Auspice said sounded like a repetition of that chat. Was it necessary to go ahead and state it for the record? Probably not. Did it hurt anyone? I don't think so, although here we are talking about it anyway.

My interest in this is very, very low.

It seems like, every time there is a question of "should we moderate this or not?"

      You guys are choosing yes.

Which IDK, just seems kind of out of place to me.

Apparently I'm in the minority though, so I will shut up now!

So, did @Auspice consult the rest of the MOD team before posting in the Stranger than Fiction thread?

Was that a joint decision, between all three of you, that you needed to post a warning telling the board to not plot against games, in 'mod voice'?

      Or was she acting independently?

@tempest I am ignoring you, because I don't care. If you think it looks dumb, well, it's the Hog Pit and you can say it.

It sounds a lot like you're realizing this whole 'mod' thing was a disgusting failure, but you refuse to admit it.

There has been a marked decline in activity on the board outside of the "Hey what flavor of cupcakes do you guys like :D" kind of threads, ever since the 'Administration on MSB' thread blew up.

@auspice Wouldn't there need to be some sort of posts to try and enlist all of MSB into any such plot for said plot to exist?

Anyone who's tried to get all of MSB to agree on - let alone sign up for and act upon - anything would laugh at the notion.

So again. Why is @Auspice going 'MOD VOICE' on the issue?

It looks really dumb, and you seem to be ignoring the people (other than me) saying that.

@tez said in Reasons why you quit a game...:

Every game I have quit was due to staff acting in a way I found unethical.

This is literally the only reason.

      The only one.

If I am actually playing on a game and managed to get involved and active, this is hands down, the only reason.

The Reach, staff lets people un-perma-freeze after they had quit characters and transferred that XP to new characters, (a decision specifically aimed to let a specific group of players in vampire return to a group of old characters), and within a week those characters were taking over the sphere.

CoFaB, I felt a staffer was way too involved in a PK scenario ICly on her player bit and she showed up to judge the PK scene for a PC who was her PC's friend and minion.

      Firan, well, doing Firan stuff.

Anything else is generally RL-fu or just a 'never really got into it in the first place'.
