@Sunny the problem comes with the liege houses losing because they didn’t crash all over someone. And that seems like poor game design— you don’t want to punish for that.

If theme becomes: and you’re ALL duchies! You know. Whatever. Little weird, but ok.

Why was this not a problem until it’s ONE great house taking the L? (The terminology of losing was introduced by @Wahoo not me.)

Like 4 or 5 houses got elevated last AoP and it was all “clap clap applause clap woohoo!”

People lost income then, too. It just wasn’t your great house.

Maybe because those houses involved PCs in the effort. They talked to their lieges. They talked to the Faith. They didn't just '@action give this to us'
Which has been the entire complaint the whole time.

I didn’t see that addressed anywhere in this thread by the OP, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

@Pyrephox friendo, you seem to pop up in various threads with these “realistic solutions” that literally nobody wants to actually play through on a MU.

Do you do this on purpose, or do you actually believe your commentaries to be something that would work on MUs?

      Genuinely curious.

I mean...isn’t the obvious answer to build some sort of relationship with your vassals and be a good leader that inspires them to want to remain in your fealty?

If you’re not willing to put in that work, why do you perpetually deserve to benefit from the income that @wahoo appears to be worried about. “Because staff said my house is higher than your house”?

I will repeat that I found it strange the last AoP drew no gripes, when there were literally like...Houses with 2 PCs in them getting elevated.

Houses lost income then, too. Just...not a great house, so it was okay?

Is this actual NWOD mechanics on Ares? Or Ares mechanics slapped on NWOD theme?

Who in the world are you RPing with, that you walk into a “Hey help me waterboard this guy” scene without being aware that is what the tone of the scene is going to be?

@Tempest Uh uh. Take that raggedy bullshit back to the Hog Pit. I respect your fire but this isn't the time or the dumpster for it.

Nobody (except staff) can do anything to you on a MU unless you give them the opportunity to do so.

This is not as big of a problem as the same few (very loudly vocal) people seem to make out. And it is always the same handful of people crying wolf.

We have people on the board who will every few months go “I thought he was my friend!!!!!!!” over and over and over with some sob story.

At some point the responsibility is on you yourself to learn to avoid these situations.

Blahblahblah yes, the harassers are shitbags who need to go away, but they don’t because people keep giving them chances.

Man, some of you guys in this thread are talking like you play no-consent RPIs where people can literally walk into the room you’re in, beat you unconscious, and drag you to a cell somewhere all via coded commands.

And I know most of you don’t.

This problem seems like it wouldn’t even exist if people vetted/filtered the people they played with /at all/.

      Have some standards.

Look, maybe I want to do bedroom stuff to Marisa Tomei Aunt May.

One day I will actually finish ME3 and see firsthand what all the hubbub and hate was about.

In the meantime, 1+2 are still some of the best games ever.

      @Arkandel said in L&L Options?:

In my personal opinion although you can base it all on a contested roll anyway it will cheapen and eat away at the source of what makes politics work - well depicted skill at getting people to do what you want them to. Yes - as you noted - this is subjective and yes it's dependent on the player's skill at posing a convincing, charismatic character but... that's just how it is. Oversimplifying the result by making it dependent on a single roll is not going to work, it'll do the exact opposite.

Almost none of us are real life swordfighters. If I'm fighting somebody and lose the combat rolls, I don't really care what the other person poses, unless it's some super egregiously stupid shit (which I could easily call them on and ask them to repose). And I'm not expected to "play along" with the other person's "demands" or anything.

Social and political stuff does not work like that. If you win a roll, but can't write to save your goddamn life, people are going to lose interest in playing with you, and in playing with their character, since they now have to go along with your awful shit because the dice said so.

Dragon Quest 11 was the best “old era” style JRPG I’ve played in a long long time.

Amara is fun but nothing about her really stands out to me yet. She doesnt have an “OMG” like FL4K’s crit stuff or Moze’s infinite shotgun and grenades stuff.

I may just be missing things.

Borderlands 3 is a ton of fun. If you liked the previous games you’ll like this one. If you didn’t, you won’t.

My only gripe is the design of the player characters all seem pretty lame especially when compared to the NPCs. Maya and Lilith and Tyreen all look way cooler than Amara or Moze.

I wish there was a way to upgrade old guns to your current level but I guess that’d remove a lot of the grind, which is half the point.
