@thenomain It is. I never had a username on the old WORA forum, I was a heavy lurker and I followed the Crimson Skies thread pretty heavily for hilarity/insanity contained within.

I've never understood why people are willing to blindly accept all kinds of supernatural ridiculousity in a setting, but then something like its setting is just untenable. A million people? In one city in Maine!? That's ridiculous!!!
But... it makes sense that supernatural monsters/creatures have been around since forever and only a teeny tiny sub-percentage of the population has ever been aware of them because the one thing people do really well consistently throughout the history of human existence is keep secrets well.. That part makes sense. Why would anyone question that.
I honestly don't care. It's not a matter of "Wahhhh! This isn't believable." At least not for me. It's a matter of "What game am I supposed to be playing so I make sure my character fits?"
....Unless you're going to set a game in Philadelphia. Because then I expect you to do my city proud and set the Four Seasons next to a crematorium and a dildo store as Ben Franklin intended.

RE: Well, this sums up why I RP
I don't have any kind of pseudo-intellectual reasoning for why I RP. Or some super deeply meaningful philosophical outlook on it.
I do it because I enjoy it.
And because I'm currently between DnD campaigns.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Chrono Trigger is the superior Chrono.
That is all.

RE: RL things I love
Spending a good hour at Bath and Body Works smelling candles and then taking home my two choices.
It's a dumb little thing. But I love candles. I'm annoyed that wallflowers don't really make an impact in my apartment, whereas the three-wick candles do. Maybe it's the fact I have ten foot ceilings? Not sure on that, but I suppose for 800 square feet for my apartment, two isn't enough. But yet, one candle can do that job just fine?
Still, while I'm not really a fan of overly flora scents and prefer more woodsy type fragrances and Bath and Body Works selection isn't all that great(for me, at least)until fall/winter I've found some I really like.
....now I just have to clean.

RE: Pacing in Ares Scenes
Just going to echo the last two statements. I just got back into playing an Ares based game and while it does feel like relearning all over again. I prefer my scenes 'live', as it were.

RE: RL Anger
Not really RL Anger, more like RL Sad. Broke up with my girlfriend today. It was mutual. Nobody cheated. Nobody lied. Nobody did anything wrong. Said how great each other was. She wants kids and it's not something I really want myself. Couldn't figure a way out and ignoring it wasn't going to make the issue go away.
It was a great relationship, nothing horrible. No arguments. Just....didn't work. And I'm left at a loss.

RE: MU Things I Love
I've always preferred older characters simply because it always felt like mushes were always inundated with teen or 20 somethings. Also, my character would be less likely to be hit on, which is something I always preferred.
I made it point to app in late 30s, early 40s. Only to realize that I'm turning 40 this year and I had a minor personality crisis over it, with the realization that I'm now playing characters the same age as myself. And it's mildly horrifying.

RE: What do you eat?
Grew up on a farm, so the whole idea of animal slaughter for food is something I'm intimately familiar with. Family still own a lot of land, but a good deal of it has been turned from over used farm land into conservation preservation. Or strictly used for feed corn and soybeans. My uncle decided to invest more in ethanol.
I have a certain outlook on these things. My family hunts, I hunt. My step-dad has been a traditionalist hunter for a long time. Being a steward of the land you live on. And part of that means keeping a healthy number of, in our case deer, from overpopulation. But also, I've learned the hard way exactly what happens when you pull the trigger. You become responsible for it. Being handed the knife and told how to field dress and later butcher the kill. We don't take our meat to a processor, we do it all in the house.
I'm also one of those weirdos who was raised on raw milk because, again, was raised on a dairy farm. Granted, I wouldn't drink it now, because it'd probably mess me up. But back when I was a kid, drank it every day.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@Sunny And so am I. But I also think that what @Kanye-Qwest is suggesting is something that's needed. Because of previous conversations that @Auspice was alluding to earlier. The concept of 'Oh, I did this fast enough enough, so now I have X thing that was really easy to get, now it'll be harder for you, sorrynotsorry'. That's just one example.
I think once all the systems are finished, tested, and finalized, I think that's the most prudent move. But that's me. Hell, I've always assumed that because this game is in consistent beta, it was never meant to be permenant.

So far as HBO shows go.
Fuck GoT.
Chernobyl is on another level.

RE: Blood of Dragons
I admit I'm slightly surprised that people are still playing it, given what's already been said, at length, about it.

RE: The Work Thread
That fear when you start seeing people drop like flies from some random illness that you just know is starting to spread through work. And you are trying to survive as best you can, lest the Deathclaw named Flu or Strep eyes in on you because it tracks by movement.

RE: The Woodward Agency
I have no horse in this, but is having a city of 1 million people important to the game? Genuine question. I live in a city of 500k and I can tell you it's definitely pretty damn big.

RE: Muahaha
As someone who's working at the grindstone of their worldbuilding, the one thing I try to keep in mind is not to create too much world. Because I'm accutely aware of how players can just check out if there's too much.

RE: Happy Holidays erryone <3
So, I feel like I'm mildly interested in stuff people may of gotten this year for the holiday. For myself, I'm pretty happy with the bottle my brother got me this year.
Goku in the background approves.

RE: The Haul
A lot of booze. Which I'm not really sure what that says about me.
A bottle of 14 year Glenfiddich scotch
A bottle of a local distillery's whiskey, which I'll likely be using for mixing.
A set of copper mugs.
A new bar spoon from Barfly(gunmetal).
A copy of Imbibe, a book regarding the historical accounting of cocktails from the 1910s and 1920s.There might be a theme with what people got me this year.
