RE: Rotating Theme
Well, I think a zombie scenario is a perfect setting to just throw random people together. Just about any highly lethal horror scenario really. But maybe if the arc lasted a year instead of three months, that might be better for some people?

RE: Rotating Theme
I'd love to play a game like that! I think it would keep characters from getting too powerful, it would keep things nice and fresh and best of all, it ends. I've been obsessed with story arcs concluding properly in mu* lately and if one "season" is successful, you could always bring it back later on! I'd definitely give something like that a try!

RE: How did you discover text-based gaming?
I was always the chick that people yelled at for trying to read and listen to npc's while on a new quest/instance. Everybody else would be running around knowing what to do and I'd still be standing there listening to the first npc.
I also don't like grind for loot games, so something like Destiny I just couldn't get into. Playing the same level over and over just to get the orange pistol of doom? Nah I'm good, imma just play the story mode, then send it back to gamefly.
If mu* were to figure out a way to advertise themselves better. There's probably a whole generation of potential players out there.

RE: How did you discover text-based gaming?
I think the mid-90s to about 2000 could be considered the golden age of Mu*. There were hundreds to choose from and not all of them were good. Obviously mmorpgs funneled a large amount of new players from mu*s, but things like Reddit and hipster "retro" love are bringing in new players again.

RE: Scenes You Have Always Wanted to Have...
I've always wanted to roll up a necromancer and go into a tavern and do the Thriller dance with a team of zombies behind me.

RE: How did you discover text-based gaming?
Started playing Gemstone on AOL back in 1994, ran around killing monsters, getting PK'd for loot, didn't really get into it because I was a sixteen year old that was more into chatting, but it was a nice diversion and it planted a seed.
Went to college the next year, got involved in a DnD group and immediately got hooked into that, since I was an English Lit/Drama major. I was still into chat and got introduced to ISCA bbs from an Intro to Computers class (remember those?). Somebody on there suggested, I try muds and I was like "Oh that thing like Gemstone? Ok..." Still didn't grab me, then I read something about Armageddon Mud on Isca. You had to create a character, apply for the character and people actually RP'd on it. Well back then it was pretty much a PK game with some RP, but I had fun playing it. I played for a couple years..but it didnt scratch that itch.
Then I discovered mushes, by then I was familiar with enough table top RPGs to play those and they actually had even more RP than Armageddon. So I bounced around on a few Star Wars, Shadowrun, DnD mushes.
I still go back and forth between Mud and Mushes to this day.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
I think you had a lot of people saying they would play a 2050 setting too though.

RE: What are you listening to?!
I'm so loving Rihanna's new album right now!

RE: Chat blocking
Honestly, I mostly scrolled past his posts, gifs and memes. If he was getting abusive though, oh well, see ya buddy.

RE: Good TV
Ugh frickin Amazon has some weird Starz package now, so I'll probably have to wait until the season's over to buy it.
I think a pirate mu* could work if it was in a pirate haven setting like Black Sails. Throw some politics in there for people that like that sort of thing.

RE: Evolution of Esos- An RPI
Role call for EoE!
- A male Nadu who is interested in sales, fashion and being filthy rich.
- A Kavka enclaved worker grunt, this could be a fun support role for someone with limited time but wanting to do SOMETHING.
- A Sergeant of the Army, Kaden enclave blood. Either sex. TONS of options for appearance.
- An Avasar, male or female, who just wants to watch the world burn.
- A Sundown. Hunter, crafter, whatever. Someone who wants to just LIVE.
All roles will be appropriately adjusted to their background.

Evolution of Esos- An RPI
No, it's not George Martin's Esos. It's an original world, currently set in the area surrounding the city of Kaiden, the last known human city on Esos. The humans have been pushed to the city by an extinction level event, most believe was magical in nature. As a result magic is feared, hated and rarely seen all at the same time. The humans have taken the city from the dwarven race, who after a number of years as second class citizens, inexplicably packed up their shit and left. An uneasy cease-fire is occuring with the elves to the south, where any misstep could kick off a war and possibly wipe the humans out completely.
The Human race consists of five clannish families that control certain aspects of the city.
The Nadu family: controls banking and fineries such as art and wine
The Kavka family: controls the making of arms and armor
The Kaden family: controls the military
The Avasar family: controls farming and livestock
The Sundown family: are hunters of exotic game and excellent scouts
The unaffiliated: are usually people that live in slums and are usually the dregs of society. You can apply to be a member of any of the families or simply create a character and find work with one of the families or fend for yourself.
This is a DIKU based Mud, so those familiar with this type of code will have an easy time adapting. The game is class/skill based, you have to choose a starting class, but you can learn any mundane skill in the game with practice. The world is huge. I've run out of graph paper a couple of times trying to map it out. The world is dangerous, there are some creatures out there that would love to rip you apart! The playerbase is fairly small, usually around 16-17 between 8-12am EST, but is looking to grow. The playerbase is also friendly and open to RP.
Come check it out! Staff is really good about approving applications with a fairly quick turnaround.

RE: Good TV
Mad Dogs on Amazon is pretty damned good too! I'm about three episodes in good acting and story.
