You are not wrong. Fuck. War is horrific, period.

RE: RL things I love
Tonight I am going to be going out with my boys, both of whom are adults, and we're going to be going out for a little bit. I love it when we do stuff together, even if it's something as simple as just walking to the store, and I know tonight will be fun.

RE: Vietnam War MUSH
This is why I said what I said about how I didn't think it'd be well received. Were/are all wars bad? Yes, but it seems like the Vietnam War was particularly so (I was born about a month after the war supposedly ended, and my memory for historical facts is shoddy af, so I remember very little of the actual details about it, I have to admit). I don't think this is a subject that should be broached at all, even in loose/broad strokes.

RE: Things We Should Have Learned Sooner
That just because someone is nice to me doesn't mean they're my friend. I need to stop being so trusting and naive. I've gotten a lot better about it over the years, especially since March of this year, but people still manage to slip in under my radar and hurt me.

How the hell am I only a .644? I thought people liked me!?
(How is reputation figured out, anyhow... number of upvotes?)

Oh, I agree. That's why I said 'if'. And conversely, staff have to be willing to be explanatory and very specific in WHY they are saying no. It takes reasonable personalities on both sides, and sometimes you don't get that. But it's what we should strive for as MU* staffers, because games continue to tank because of people not being reasonable and being all "MY WAY ONLY'. Compromise is necessary to make things work.I agree. Compromise is one of those things that is needed, from players and staff.
I think a lot of why staffers get a bad rap isn't because they are truly as bad as they are but because the players in question are not willing to work with them and try to find a happy middle ground. Maybe people would find less to grouse about here if they were willing to do that.

RE: Shameless Self-Promotion: Extra Life 2017
Extra Life is a legit charity that supports various children's hospitals. I have several friends from Twitch who do this and who wouldn't do this if they felt it was not on the up and up.

RE: The Shame Game
Shaming is a dual-edged sword. In most cases it is a horrible thing - like shaming a woman who happens to enjoy having sex and is happy with having more than one partner - but, on the flip side of the coin, it can also be a very powerful tool. While it might fall upon deaf ears (or blind eyes, if it's done on a forum such as this) it just might get someone's attention and make them realize their behavior is unacceptable and help them to decide to try and change it. I don't condone using it except in the most extreme of cases and only if you're sure that the shaming won't cause more harm than it might cause possible good.

RE: RL things I love
Being able to watch RPGs like D&D being streamed live.
Especially when Matt Mercer and Joe Manganiello are involved.
Ahem.
(I'll be in my bunk.)

RE: Emotional separation from fictional content
To play a bit of Devil's Advocate, here, not everyone's going to know something will trigger them until the scene gets to that point. Sometimes a person might be fine with something usually but they are triggered by the subject matter due to not having a good day or somehow being off their game. And other times, someone might be new to the style of offered RP and not realize it's a bit more than they can handle, emotionally, until it's too late.

RE: Comfort Food...
A Mexican restaurant opened within walking distance of us. This has been a blessing as such things as carne asada tacos and copious amounts of guacamole seem to be a current comfort food for me. I could seriously eat that at least once a week and not get sick of it.

RE: Recipes!
My take on baked potato soup:
Potatoes: Baked
Bacon
Onion (not red/purple)
Milk
Salt & Pepper
Baked potato toppings: Chives, shredded cheddar, bacon bits, sour cream, etc.(I don't use/give amounts for the various ingredients because this is totally something you can do to taste or based on what you have on hand.)
Bake potatoes until just a little over the done stage and saute onions and bacon together (bacon won't get crispy). Drain a little of the grease off if you want but don't drain it entirely as it flavors the soup along with the bacon/onion mixture. When the potatoes are done you cut them open and put the tater innards into the pot with the mixture and add milk until it's the desired consistency you want. I tend to go for something between a thinner mashed potato and a thicker chowder base after everything's mashed together. Heat through, salt and pepper to taste (most likely won't need too much salt due to the bacon) and serve with baked potato toppings if desired.
(This is not diet/artery friendly, consider yourself warned!)
ETA: To give an example of what measurements I use for a very hungry family of four:
1 bag of potatoes (usually use the whole thing since these potatoes tend to be on the small side)
1-1 1/2 pound of bacon (some brands are just a pound, others a pound and a half)
1 large yellow or white onion
However much milk needed for desired consistency - usually about half a gallon -
RE: RL things I love
Just finished up a backup D&D character for our Saturday game. I'm really excited about possibly playing as her, or, if my cleric doesn't die or something, perhaps playing her in another game.

RE: RL things I love
I used to spoil myself a bit by keeping a stock of loose tea, usually several flavors at a time. I had to stop doing that because holy crap, it can get expensive. Been several years, but I was able to get some loose tea as part of a mug/infuser set and I had forgotten how much better loose tea is over teabags. Don't get me wrong. I love a lot of teas that come in teabags. But this? OMG, so fucking goooood!

RE: RL things I love
A friend was super sweet and sent me a care package which included an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. I got ProCreate and managed to make an emote for Twitch that doesn't look like a total dumpster fire.
Today is a good day, despite being Monday 2.0.

The fact that such things exist befuddles and infuriates me beyond measure.
They are a thing, and more of a thing than people realize, unfortunately. We're kind of in that situation.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2019
I am so sad. I know that places of great historical importance have burned down and been rebuilt in the past, but this is so devastating.
