Speaking as an atheist, it seems to me like the universe put this dog who needs a new home in your way. Pure chance? Of course it is. Unless you're not an atheist in which case you decide.

    • RE: What Do You Love About WoD?

I love urban fantasy. For the most part, WoD is it except for the rare times when some other game system/setting comes along. And even when they do, they then have to actually take off.

Season your food. Herbs and spices like oregano and cinnamon don't just make food taste better...

Speaking of... cinnamon lowers blood sugar. Capsules can also raise your liver functions to above normal on blood tests. Not necessarily high but noticeable.

Plants and herbs can have medicinal effects but keep in mind they're also medicine. Many/most medicines came from plants in the first place such as foxglove (digitalis) and willow bark (aspirin).

@Derp What Arkandel was referring to was. Which is what you were responding to. Which is obvious unless one chooses to deliberately obfuscate the broader picture by focusing only on the very last post made.

Actually, it's incorrect to label it non-Western. The swastika appears on ancient Greek coins up to 2500 years ago.

    • RE: MU-Gateway.com

I used to check out OGR regularly. I'd look at embassies. I'd read the boards. If a game went down, I knew I could find the people there. It was a good resource.

Not saying he doesn't have a point. And there are certainly ways to make things more newbie friendly. But.

Call me elitist if you want but given the problems with punctuation, capitalization, grammar, syntax, the overuse of 'well', etc I'm not sure Mu*s need to be geared to 13 year olds.

By all means, we should make things easier for people to learn how to use the game but I suspect he'd have problems anyway.

@Ganymede In no way am I referring to the change in software or site address. I'm referring to the change in tone and rules you decided were necessary.

There are exceptions to the rule, but I am much of your opinion where this is concerned.

Actually, I didn't say that was the norm. You only have to look here to find people who act like... you know, adults. For every Bigbad there are 10 (a statistic pulled out of thin air) who aren't. I think that, generally, most people aren't assholes. Not even Muers despite the stereotype. WORA, and to a lesser extent this board, are echo chamber for all the worst Mu behavior. That's what it was created for: to complain about assholes while being assholes.

It's a sad fact that the squeaky wheel gets the oil and that assholes are the ones who get the attention. Dismiss them and you'll find that who's left are generally regular people, both good and bad. But there's still a tendency for a lot of people to not care how they present themselves because it's anonymous.

You also have to be pro-active. If a faction group like the one @Derp mentions says it's taking new members, talk to them about it. Don't wait for them to come to you.

Don't even wait for them to say it's taking new members. Page one of them and ask.

I think there's probably also a substantial number of people in the hobby who just like to write backgrounds. The joke used to be that all mudders are frustrated writers, and while that's not entirely fair there's an element of truth to it.

I love writing vampire backgrounds. I don't care about the writing, it's the research. I love picking out an interesting time period, researching it and some interesting event that happened during it and getting into the head of a person who lived through it. His mortal history is what makes the character tick and shapes his entire existence.

Unfortunately, it seems that I hate playing vampires since I've never successfully managed to do so for any length of time.

Also, I don't care what it says about the human race until it starts sexualizing zombies. Cause eww.

Marvel: 1963 uses Faraday's code. In fact, she helped set it up. We don't use the combat system or any of the related code. It's not Anomaly jobs though.

I've used both Zenni and Eyebuydirect. They're excellent. I need a strong prescription and they'd cost me about $400 getting them at a store nearby. At either place I can get them for less than $150. Anyone who needs glasses should check them out.

    • RE: The Desired Experience

I'd say that what a player should expect from staff after asking what's needed depends on staff's response.

If staff answers 'Well, there are no Gangrel bikers.' then staff is just acting as a talking +census command. However, if staff answers 'We need Gangrel bikers.' then they're speaking ex cathedra and implying there is an actual NEED for that role from staff's POV and that it comes with specific plot points and involvement.

    • RE: Return to last position box

Periodically, weird things happen with that 'go to last post' box. And yes, I refresh and it works again. This wasn't the case. But suddenly it's working again - I'm guessing because the latest posts are on a brand new page. Maybe someone has an idea why that made a difference. I don't. But it's also mostly irrelevant now except as a point of curiosity.
