Rifts was a lot of fun. But the system is kind of terrible.

I've always thought of a working class hero as someone that was born into the working class, but succeeded in rising into the leisure class. I never thought it connoted having no knowledge or appreciation of other classes.
This.

RE: Old Yeller
When you google image 'my little mecha pony' there's a ton of hits.
I didn't need to know this.

RE: Outline of a possible MUSH
Sounds interesting. If you build it, they will come.

RE: RL Anger
@VulgarKitten Start a conversation. At some point when talking about your day, say "And there was this person near me chewing gum with his mouth open. I couldn't fucking concentrate because all I heard was him.'

RE: Old Yeller
Are you paying anything for it?
If so, immediately.
If not, what's it really matter? You could also make the active players new staff and give the place to them.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
This board is made up of people who've been on it, in one incarnation or another, for fifteen years or more. If anyone has overstayed their welcome...

RE: Fitness and Whatnot
What worked for me is phentermine. It's an old, cheap, proven amphetamine that has very few (none for me) side effects and is not at all addictive. It really works to kill your appetite. After a while, you build a tolerance so need to go off it for X length of time before starting again.
I also changed my diet, of course but the drug is excellent for as long as you can get it to last. Talk to your doctor.

RE: RL things I love
@ThatGuyThere I've actually heard about this kind of thing before. It even made the news. Meeting groups where all people did was hug and cuddle because they didn't get enough human touch in their lives otherwise.
-
RE: RL things I love
@HelloRaptor Not even from a professional cuddle worker? I wonder what their rates are. Do they charge by the cuddle? The minute? Do people cuddle for an hour? Do they practice safe cuddling?

Plus, when it comes to prescription drugs, unless it's changed in the last couple years, it's illegal for the government to try to get better drug prices from the pharmaceutical companies for Medicare. And who pays for Medicare? The taxpayers! So we get screwed that way too.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. That makes so much negative sense. Who put that stupid rule into effect and when?
The politicians in Congress, of course. Who coincidentally get hefty reelection campaign donations from Big Pharma.

RE: RL Anger
And speaking of which...
I HATE election years. Especially since it's almost two years long.
I also HATE the media for giving the shit bag Republican candidates a forum. Donald Trump is not a serious candidate. Ted Cruz is not a serious candidate. Mike Huckabee is not a serious candidate.
I HATE Republican voters for potentially making shit bags serious candidates.

RE: Indulgence of the Night
@WTFE At first I thought it was an egg, perhaps aged. But seeing that reddish end, I'm going to guess it's something's testicle.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
I played GSIII a long, long time ago. Back when it was a service on GEnie and they charged by the hour on dial up. Gods, I wasted so much money back then. But at least I never called in during prime time. I wonder if my character is still there, archived somewhere.

Just in case you haven't read any other threads here, you're not being treated any differently than anyone else. Debates here are pretty blunt.

Can you clarify what you mean by "coded" perma-death?
The perma-death requirement is simply that a character can be killed without the consent of the player behind it.
Then forget the coded part. If that game qualifies for your list, then too should most non-consent Mushes.

For example lets look at Sindome which is arguably the least perma-death game with coded death on Optional Realities. It is almost impossible to actually permanently die on that game due to the setting, theme, and cloning being one of the fundamental technologies for the people of that world. I played there for a short time, wasn't my cup of tea, but their roleplay wasn't any worse than other RP muds I've tried over the last 15 years. Yet even with cloning being a fundamental part of their setting they still choose to include the ability to permanently die. Why?
So it sounds like they have fewer permanent character deaths than many non-consent dark themed games. Which makes the requirement for coded permadeath seem arbitrary and irrelevant.
