A constructive thread, I hope. I have, in the past, probably in the past 10 to fifteen minutes, mentioned that I am not terribly fond of House Rules when they are not necessary.

I feel that, whenever possible, it is best, and simplest, to stick to the rules presented in the book for whatever game you are running. On a MU especially, House Rules add confusion and pollute the community with expectations. What is actually a HR on a popular game becomes ingrained in the zeitgeist and assumed to be "just how it is".

Also, HRs can be poorly designed and/or written - sometimes the most awesome of rules is poorly explained by those who write it.

Now I am not saying that HRs are evil - they have a place. Some things are just not workable as written, either for a MU environment, or for balance or sanity reasons. Sometimes the rules in a book are poorly explained and need a solid interpretation.

But I am curious where most people sit on this issue, and thus, a thread is born.

I mentioned playing it, yes. I just wanted to start the thread off with something!

If Wendigo asks me I'll flesh out the Vampire sphere with some stuff and/or things. But I do hope the game takes off, people want to play!

A (hopefully) fun idea for a thread. Give a brief elevator pitch of a concept you are considering on a MU. The next poster gives a little critique, such as if they think would be fun to play with, is super cliche, special snowflake, whatever. But then they have to post a concept of their own.

I will start with a concept I actually used in a Beta of a game but never remade:

A Vampire the Requiem character who was embraced by a clueless neonate, and knows nothing of Kindred society, but instead pretends to be a grand and powerful Vampyre with all of their knowledge from self-experimentation and pop culture. How do they react to the real Midnight Society? Can they adjust, or are they destined to be mocked at best, destroyed at worst?

I'm just in it for Kara.

So I watched my first episode of Flash today. Because Supergirl. Crossover is fun so far even if the "4 night event" was a little disingenuous of the advertising.

What I want from YOU: Tell me I'm a pretty princess, but, like, in a manly way. Bonus points for constantly referencing how big my beard and or penis are. Double bonus points if your RL husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/body pillow is totally not as sexy as I am. Also, I am going to like, own your character. I mean not literally, that is slavery. But don't expect to play with anyone else. Unless they are a hot chick and totally want to make out. Then do it. And log it. And send it to me.

What you get: You get to be ignored by me! Except when I demand attention. Also I won't TS you because I will be busy not logging in for days at a time and honestly, who has the time for that? But I'll make you think I want it and if I change my mind, I promise, you'll be first on the list.
