What was Darkwater? I'm guessing it doesn't refer to the 90s cartoon.

I love AresMUSH, but it would take someone that could code a whole different stat system to pull it together.
I agree, but you can do that. I mean, you're going to have to code up a whole different stat system whether you pick TinyMUX, Evennia or Ares. I don't think the effort to do so is going to be orders of magnitude different no matter which one you pick.
This. It really depends on what language you want to work in.. and what other systems are already available (logging, messaging, etc).

@lisse24 If you haven't seen a Lyme literate doctor yet I'd suggest at least getting a consultation https://www.ilads.org/ has a provider search

RE: Rise of Legends
I get the desire to avoid grizzled vets, but why not allow "non-traditional students"? If magic and stuff is newly returned why not let older folks try their hand at it? personally I was interested in the ad until I saw the teen requirement and that's a non-starter for me and I am probably not alone in that.

abstract popularity meter
People do love their fake popularity.
For me the struggle with this is that it is a generic Lords and Ladies system with no real Wheel of Time flavor to it aside from a couple of nouns. Trying to thing of ways to add more theme to it.. Aes Sedai advisors, Ogier builders, etc.

RE: Good TV
I think it's telling when the best appearance of a character was his cameo on someone else's show. (Iron Fist in Luke Cage season 2)

RE: The Eighth Sea - Here There Be Monsters
My problem was that no one was around to RP with when I could RP most of the time and all the events were scheduled for times I wasn't able to get to so I never really got a feel for what the game was intended to be about. Aside from bar RP about future food/supply scarcity wasn't sure what do to with myself

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
So! some progress.
I've stood up a VPS server that has about 4-5 months worth of time to run before I'll need to top it off with more, decided on a name and even registered a domain.
Name!: Patterns of an Age
Server!: poaamush.win (yes, .win. Was $0.66 for a year! If this gets legs I'll spring for a .net or .pizza)At the moment it is just a basic install of Evennia with postgresql. The server is up on port 4000 if anyone actually wants to login, but I won't promise that the server will actually be up when you try or that it will stay up once connected or that you'll even be able to do anything once you connect.
I may see if I can't install Ares on the same box and compare the two.
And I think I may have settled on theme (for the moment). Fourth Age, shortly after the Last Battle. Instead of basing it in an existing city, a new city is being formed somewhere or another from all the nations involved as a sort of nexus/UN deal with plenty of opportunity for world building for folks that like to do that, politicking for those sorts, and the more adventurous stuff as well

@wildbaboons Trying to connect, but alas, host not found -- it is a baby server after all!
Yeah, DNS may take some time to propagate through everywhere but it should work eventually.
Edit; well it would have if I didn't break it. Like i said! No promises of being functional!

I'm curious to see how this goes!
But is SF really called the Paris of the West? Is it because they both smell like urine?

So can you really blame people to not want to fall flat on their face for no narrative reason other than a fickle die roll?
It can quickly become more like one of those "cat forgets how to cat" gifs than a good part of a story.
Couple real life examples of botched rolls though:

RE: Arx: A New House
OCs are allowed. In the case of this thread you'd be creating an OC for the new House that would only go to Roster if you dropped them as a character.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
My thinking is that an existing city would tie concepts too closely to whatever is in the region and setting things somewhere new would allow everyone from everywhere a place, thought places like the White Tower and the Farm, etc may still be coded ElseWhere where they will likely frequent use, the focus would be on the new place.
I am picturing it as something like the war camps from the Stormlight series. At first everyone starts out in tents, but as the game progresses and different factions want to invest more they can redesc with buildings, etc. Let the players shape the game and all.
I have a very rough idea for a faction/Great Game system that I need to try and flesh out more, but if I can pull it off I think folks will really like
