@Admiral That happens to me every time I play for more than 10 or 15 minutes. Nothing I type seems to matter and it just sort of does what it wants till I reload.

Well shit. I guess I know where part of my tax return is going.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I don't really see anything wrong with the system, to be honest. I think it could use a bit of a skill overhaul and revision and I think it could use a "Second Edition" that smooths over some of the inconsistencies that have cropped up over the 30 years of supplements that have been made for it but that's about it. I don't think it's quite as slick as D&D 5E but I'd take Palladium Fantasy or Rifts over Pathfinder 1st or 2nd Edition any day.

I love Rifts. It's a glorious monstrosity of a setting where you can be anything and anything can happen. What other game allows a party comprised of a demigod, a vampire, a dragon, and a terminator like cyborg to go up against a Cthulhian like alien monster from another universe?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
People who complain, mock, or ridicule RPG systems that they have no experience with. I've been playing Palladium RPGs and the Hero system since I was in middle school and I love both of them. I get that they may not be the most popular gaming systems out there(especially Palladium) but I enjoy them both very much.
What bugs me are people who say things like, "I've never played Champions but I know it's super complicated and requires an advanced mathematics degree to play and that's just stupid." Or some such. All they do is parrot garbage they read off of forums and act like this makes them experts. Then, when you try to discuss this with them, just just shake their heads and walk away. It's very irritating.
I'm tempted to make a Champions or Heroes Unlimited MUSH just to spite people.

@macha I'm right there with you. I don't think I'd be here today if it wasn't for my little guy. They are the definition of unconditional love.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2020
It's for mourning the dead...except for when it isn't? This is the same forum where, in similar threads, people have posted 'X has died' and it's been followed by a host of "I'm glad he's dead!" posts. I honestly don't care either way but the hypocrisy found in this forum is often hilarious.

RE: Good TV
I guess I'm in a weird minority. I thought all three of the people you mentioned would go on to have decent careers. I always thought a pre-Blade Trinity Ryan Reynolds was akin to a young Chevy Chase, I've liked Henry Cavill since I saw him in The Count of Monte Cristo, and I thought Brie Larson was the only one who COULD act on the few eps of I saw of Raising Dad.

Slowly. I'm a one-man show and there are a lot of moving parts. I'm also trying to get it fully web portal functional so that's adding to the time.

@Tempest Yeah, Pueblo was the first client I remember it working in but I always hated Pueblo. I thought it was clunky and inelegant. I very much like BeipMU, however. Instead of opening the image in the output panel it opens it in a dedicated image panel. I love it.

Even pre-PBs, I didn't read descs.
This +1000. There was very little I hated more than typing 'l (person)' and being greeted with an 8,000 character buffer breaker.
This is why I like BeipMU. On Blood Falls and H&V I encourage players to link to an image in their @descs as it brings up that image in the client itself if people are A) using BeipMU and B) have that feature turned on. Then the actual text desc is used to customize the image with character-specific things.

@ghost You equated my comment about pornographic material being made with the tacit agreement that it'll be used for personal sexual gratification with hacking into someone's phone and posting their private material openly and publically and I'm the one trying to move the goalposts? Okay.
-
RE: Image Attribution & Creative Commons
Well, I think we're talking about very different things when it comes to actually invading someone's privacy and releasing personal information(photos or whatever) and saying "I'm using Ben Affleck for my version of Batman" while someone else says, "Okay, but I'm using Gina Carano for my interpretation of Wonder Woman." And then posting some photos, many often just links to other sites hosting the photos, for reference.
I also think, for the purposes of TS since that seems to be the main crux of your argument, that we're greatly inflating what a "sexual situation" is since most RP takes place in that grand palace that is our imagination where that character could like like anything we want regardless of who the other player has listed as their PB.
-
RE: Image Attribution & Creative Commons
@Ghost I'm not saying I disagree with you(though I'm also not entirely focused solely on the TS aspect of PBs) but while we're in the realm of thought exercise, with a pornographic actor, is it much different than using their photo or video or whatever as masturbation material? You still don't have their permission to use that material for that purpose. Unless you assume that there is a tacit agreement that this material is made FOR that purpose(personal sexual gratification) then might not using them as a PB to fulfill that same purpose be okay?

RE: Image Attribution & Creative Commons
@JinShei I agree. For me, the decision was made because the "influencer/model" in question had only a few thousand followers and most of the pictures were more candid in nature than "photo opportunity" types. I think in this age where we're seeing more and more "regular people" become pseudo-celebrities it's a line that gets blurrier and blurrier every day.

That's amazing. I actually will use that.

RE: Image Attribution & Creative Commons
While I don't ever see using actors/models/whatever as PBs going away I do think this brings up a good discussion. It's one we had on Blood Falls not that long ago as well. Someone wanted to use an Instagram "influencer/model" as their PB and wanted to know if it was okay. I told them I wasn't comfortable with it and would rather people keep their PBs to celebrities and use only "pubic" publicity photos(no paparazzi shots or candid shots from Instagram or anything).
I think it's a thin line but one I justify by saying that celebrities put themselves in the public spotlight. They release photos to publicize themselves and make themselves known. Fan sites have used these photos since the inception of the internet to "fan cast" various things.

I'm familiar with it. Curious how you'd convert it into a MU* though.
