@reason I don't have extensive experience with it but from what I've heard, so long as you're okay with their unique dice system, it's not bad.

Norm Macdonald This one really sucks, IMO.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
@runescryer I'd play that! I might even help staff it if it got off the ground.
And Cobra-La might have had it's goofier elements but it also gave us Golobulus and Nemesis who I think are just a fantastic characters.

RE: Good TV
The dialogue in the first couple of eps was pretty bad. I thought it got better as the series went. I still think it really could have benefited from a prequel series to setup some of the things from this series and to help those people who might not be familiar with the original series.
Even so, I still enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next batch of eps.

@squirreltalk 1) It was just an idea. 2) I never said it was the perfect solution. 3) I never said anything about people playing each other or having to buy a video game. I said the matches would be simulated(by a booker/staff member). If you used Firepro or WWE 2KX they'd also be a watchable show that could be streamed on YouTube or Twitch.
I think there are other advantages but ,clearly, we're not on the same page with the idea.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
Yeah, I like the idea that it's real. The feuds are real, the wrestling is real, everything is real. Even if there was a touch of the fantastic involved.
The hard part is the matches. The way I see it you could go 1 of 3 ways complex, basic, and simple.
Complex: Use a system that lets you do things round by round.
Basic: Break the matches up into Early, Middle, Late. Have some sort of stats involved and have each wrestler roll off at the beginning of a phase then RP appropriately. First wrestler to win 2 phases wins the match.
Simple: Don't RP the matches at all and use a wrestling simulator(TNM7, Firepro Wrestling, WWE 2KX, etc).
The more I think about it the more I dig simulating the matches because then you could have NPCs involved really easily.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
@squirreltalk I think a pro wrestling game would be really cool. Either one based in "reality" or a fantastical one that takes place in the far future(Champions of the Galaxy style) or even in a fantasy realm.
There's a WWE RPG that I think might translate well or even a hacked version of the diceless Marvel Universe RPG.

I'd love an anthropomorphic animal game. TMNT, After the Bomb, Mutant: Year Zero. I'd even go for a game set in DC comics Earth C.

RE: Good TV
I get being disappointed by some of the things in the show. Like I said, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. In the end, however, it made me wish there was more of it so that's a good thing. My main gripe is that this season(or 5 episodes) felt like they came after something we didn't get to watch. I wish there had been a setup season to this one.

RE: Good TV
As a lifeline fan of Masters of the Universe I was nervous going into this series but I ended up really enjoying it. Not exactly what I was hoping for but close enough. I think they did a good job and I can't wait for the second half of the season.

RE: 7th Sea?
@runescryer I think it could be cool. If you don't mind my asking, why 1st edition as opposed to 2nd Edition?

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
Been think about games I'd love to make but never will a lot lately and know what one is really high on that list? An Amalgam game. Not one based on the actual Amalgam comics but a DC/Marvel game where players take a character from each universe and smash them together. I mean, someone could be Dark Claw, sure but they wouldn't have to be.
My biggest fear is the game just becoming a glorious mess.

@lotherio Yeah, I was tempted to try something like that to scratch that motu itch using Masters of Umdaar.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
Sadly I think it's time I came to terms with the fact there are several games I'd love to make but probably won't.
Masters of the Universe. Even with the recent resurgence I just don't think this theme would work well. Even if you expanded it to include other, similar, properties such as Thundercats. I think you'd have a hard time getting people to "play it straight" and take the theme seriously.
Heroes Reborn. A Marvel Universe game with no X-characters. I always wanted to do a game where the focus was on non-X types.

RE: OC Superhero Discussion
@lotherio I think that's where the "how you define success" comes in. If you're looking for a slam dunk of a game with dozens of players and hundreds of logins, you might be let down. Looking for maybe a dozen dedicated players and an equal number of logins? Well, there might be something here for you.

RE: OC Superhero Discussion
To be clear, nothing is set in stone. This also isn't a "ZombieGenesis" project, I was hoping this thread might help anyone who has been on the fence about opening an OC game.
I think the thread has shown a few things. First, there's clearly hunger out there for a Masks game. Second, there's also hunger out there for a non-Masks game. There's room for both to exist in this world and if someone has been thinking about opening one(or the other), there's a chance they could find success with it(depending on you they define success I suppose).

RE: OC Superhero Discussion
@squirreltalk Right now I'm just looking at code. There are aspects of M&M 3E that I'm wondering are worth the trouble to try and code up properly(arrays and some other stuff).

@zombiegenesis I'd be down for this as well. I' say M&M would be the better system if we're just using a system for power modeling.
Yeah, while I have some issues with M&M 3E as a system they all kind of vanish when looked at in this light. I might have to spool up an Ares server and take a stab at it, see how it feels.

I am still a huge advocate for use a game system to design characters, sort of a way to make sure everyone has the same number and power of options, and then just free form it from there.
This is exactly how I feel about it. For supers anyway. I like sheets as a way to give an "at-a-glance" look at a character. It's easier to look at a sheet and go "Oh, he has Strength 15 and Invulnerability 10", which tells you how hard he can hit and how much damage he can take in 20 or 30 characters, rather than reading through a few paragraphs of powers to get the same information.
