Is the Insta Pot as good as advertised? What do you do with it?
We're thinking of getting one.

Depends on what you like to eat/end up cooking a lot!
It does things like cutting down cooking time (though by how much depends on what it is) for things like dried beans, bone broth or soup stock, or other things that require long simmering. You can cook a whole chicken in about 30 minutes actual cooking time but you still need to brown it in the pot of you like that so it doesn't end up saving too took much time per se.
It will save you cleaning time since unlike a crock pot you can sautee things in it. (Most also have a slow cooker function so that's yet another appliance you can get rid of if you want). It's relatively compact. Our family does a lot of meatless meals and I often forget to soak beans and that's not a problem with pressure cooking most dried beans. We eat a lot of soup, I do a lot of crock pot cooking usually (because hello four kids from 2-15, I am on my feet running around with everyone's activities), but I also end up forgetting a lot these days or losing time in the mornings, and with a pressure cooker it's no problem.
I love it. I think though if you're more into roasting stuff or do mostly quick cooking stovetop meals it's more of a toy, since it won't save you that much time. But for my purposes it's been fantastic, has saved us a bunch of money, and it's easier to clean up than 3 pots and pans, since the insert is dishwasher safe and can go from appliance to table to fridge/dishwasher.

@Arkandel Yes, Instapot4lyfe! They had some crazy sales over christmas, keep your eyes peeled.

First time ever making sausage gravy. Second time ever making a roux.
And holy shit it's good. like, 'I kinda want to share but I also want it all to myself' level of good.

@Auspice That sounds like it is a moment like the kitten era broccoli moment: goddammit why do I not have a video camera built into my brain so I could have recorded that adorableness to share with the known world!!
Black Mirror had an episode about something like this...just not adorable cats were involved.
-
@Jaded Yeah, I saw part of that one. Hence the 'unless it's endearing and cute fuzzy animals, it would just not work'. Because that show is too dark for even me much of the time.
-
I don't mean to be political, but this really did tickle me the right way.

So they added Prince to Spotify, that alone has made me love Spotify even more.

I am listening to 1999 RIGHT THE FUCK NOW without being shackled to my ITunes library. It's making me so damn happy. The world, it is my oyster.

@Three-Eyed-Crow Hi5!

I ended up going to urgent care tonight because the migraine spiked to where I couldn't function.
So the "love" part is that the toradol brought me from a 10 down to about a 4-6 range. This is the least pain I've been in for over a week and it's glorious.
-
I'm sorry you have a migraine. I understand and also have a love/hate of the migraine drug cocktail. For the pain, for the migraine and for the nausea, but geez do I love that moment that my hair doesn't hurt my brain.
I hope you feel better and it broke up the migraine so that it can fade out the rest of the way too. I personally like ice around forehead and temples with heat on the base of my head. It helps me. I'm not sure if that works for everyone though.

Honestly, Spotify's Discover Weekly.
I mean it also has some cringeworthy shit, like some band called The Dudes who sing songs about wanting some other dude's girl and that he knows she belongs to him but he wants her anyway? Like, it is perhaps the most objectifying song I have ever heard, it was painful.
But then you have awesome stuff like this heavy metal cover of Boombastic, which is amazing.

I love MOST covers, but I especially love good ones. YouTube has been a godsend in a way, because you get people like Holophonics, Postmodern Jukebox, and Walk Off The Earth who do amazing covers.

All true.
Speaking of covers, this song.
I've had some time to process FF XV and its ending, and I've decided it is really good. Really, really good. You get what you put into the game, and although I wasted five fucking hours trying to catch a murk grouper, the plot, the gameplay -- everything -- is pretty stellar. I found myself not really caring that I plowed through the game quite easily -- I didn't master a lot of the subtle, strategic play -- and found myself aching to get through the final 4 chapters. Which means I have to go back and complete some shit, like getting a brontosaurus haunch (I shit you not).

@Ganymede We can trade covers when I have some more time (and am home for easier access).
I love love LOVE punk rock covers of pop/oldies. So you KNOW that Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are basically my idols.

You'd better.
I had a lot of covers linked to Clarice's wiki page at the Reach. Unfortunately, the wiki is down.
-
@Ganymede Sure. I mean, I don't have as many as I used to (hard drive death) but still... so many.

Given that statement I am sure you have already listened to it but for everyone else out there. Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies did an album of all country covers called Love Their Country. As someone who grew up rural and therefore listening to country and is a big punk fan it is one of my favorite CDs ever.
