RE: Atom Editor Language Definition
if you use this and notice your version goes down to 0.5, no that's not a bug. Apparently github got out of sync with my local copy. It is now back in sync. I also don't remember why I made it 1.0. So yeah, it's 0.5 now because you shouldn't code when tired.

RE: OBF and Umbra Objects
@thenomain You could simulate it pretty easy. Set something dark, code your room parent to check if they should show. Though it'd just be a hack. Nothing like that exists inherently.

RE: Outside the Box MU* Design/Theory
@thenomain I thought Novum was pretty simple, though I never finished it. I could probably stand to finish writing it.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
My only real problem with a fading suns mush has been finding the books. I basically only have one and have no clue what edition it is.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
@sundown i too would like to play more fading suns except without a crazy person at the helm. I was playing with making a ROTK game at one point, i even coded some stuff for it. https://github.com/ccubed/War

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
@thenomain Haven is a mud type. Reason: Objects have hard coded types.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
@icanbeyourmuse I don't think people mind bad things happening. What poisons that well is when people perceive that the bad things aren't equally applied.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
This thread reminds me of a saying. It's an important saying.
Sun Tzu said:
He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
@jaunt It's not 'foggy.'
Optional Realities is a community and design blog for text-based, online Roleplaying Games, with a focus on character and story-driven games that include permanent character death as a feature.
This is pretty clear. Text based, Online RPGs with a focus on stories and characters that include permanent character death.
While many call this genre of game an RPI, Optional Realities is dedicated to all text-based Roleplaying Games of this nature...
You go on to say this is usually called an RPI but clarify that you totally aren't focused on that.
Where is it 'foggy'?

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
I do kind of want to play on a 7th seas mush to be fair, but i've never actually wanted to code it.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Gingerlily Yes people tend to gravitate towards the capital city, but let's not pretend it is the only place people RP. It's not even the only place represented on grid. Even my small city was represented on grid. So 'Everyone is in the capital city' seems like a cheap reflection. You also seem to be keen on quietly stepping around the issue as presented. You say 'people are doing ambassadorial things,' yes they are with skaldia, but don't bring up the giant NPC post that made it illegal to do those things. You say 'rp with others' but don't address that people are telling you they tried and were shut out. I'm not entirely sure what your position is on the game, but dodging legitimate concerns seems counter-productive. I sent in plenty of jobs and goals when I played, I just didn't enjoy playing roll the dice with myself after my avenues got closed by staff of all people. Even if I understand the reasoning behind it, it still struck me as counter productive to game health for staff to make people not want to RP knowing that plenty of people were banking on that particular avenue.

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
@gwynn do you want the 7th seas books? I have them and offer them up to you. As to GURPS, GURPS is the RPG system made from a coder's wet dream. I like it, but i'm a coder.

It is officially a chore to open this thread due to the images.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
It seems silly to frame it in reference to only the capital city when there are several other cities on grid they could be assaulting, many of which have ports as their main staples. In any case, I figured that navy would be a hit and miss scenario, much like military, so didn't just rely on those. Trading and Ambassadorial pursuits were also kind of dead at the time.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Gingerlily wait, pirates are assaulting a land locked city? So let me get this straight, pirates which sail on ships and attack other ships are attacking a land locked city, which means there is no sea for pirates to terrorize. Sure, OK.
In other news, the lack of naval rumors makes more sense now. Can't very well assault the pirate menace of a land locked city with a ship.
