Am I miscommunicating? That's not a rhetorical question, I'm just really confused here. I never proposed anything about using monsters as PCs. Or even using them as-is from their original versions. There are no vampires the way the WoD understands them in this game, after all.

The idea was simply to have some villains based on characters people have liked in the past, probably as a caricature or heavily distorted version at that. Not that different than running an NPC based on a movie or book one, but using our own past words for kicks and giggles.

I never suggested we pull a former character from TR and use them verbatim here, let alone play them as PCs. Why would we want that?

@Pyrephox If you assume the very worst about players and are worried about trying new things out because of what someone might conceivably do or find an excuse to complain about then we do disagree on what a "fun thing" might be.

I like to experiment. If it doesn't work it doesn't work. It's okay, the world won't end, we're just playing games here.

@Pyrephox If staff in any game is paralysed because people might complain and blow up for inane reasons nothing will ever happen. Drama will happen anyway eventually, at least this way everyone else gets to do things in the mean time.

Just let TJ deal with the fallout and do fun things! That's what he's getting paid the big bucks for.

@Pyrephox I think most people who run something like this would do it to have fun. If not, that's what @Tragedyjones is for, let him deal with the drama while we play his game.

Pitch: Although this isn't a World of Darkness MU*, allow/encourage/bribe people to release their favorite former PCs from WoD games as the NPC monsters they could be in a world like yours.

Let them go all comic-book like alternate universe evil versions of their biggest hits and see what kind of havoc they can wreak on their new ones (and everyone around them).

My sports movies/TV shows peeve FOREVER is how hard it is to pull off a basketball one.

The reason it's so hard is that for some sports like (say, football or hockey) they get to hide athletes behind helmets, and for other sports you can fake playing well since there are specific but generic enough moves involved (baseball, golf) so they can teach someone to execute them convincingly.

Basketball? There's no way in hell someone can just pick up decent enough dribbling skills for one movie enough to do even a crossover halfway convincingly. That guy who can't dribble and shoot a jumper like a pro - and we've seen pros' shots thousands of times so the difference would be noticeable immediately - will stick out like a sore thumb.

@tragedyjones You need to neg the hotties first. Duh.

@Three-Eyed-Crow FNL falls into this weird category for me where I don't like the sport it's about at all but some of my favorite TV shows or movies are in it. Same thing as baseball; I hate the actual sport but The Natural is one of my favorite films of all time.

I'm just going to leave this here then walk away.

You should (?) see her when she's listening to Beyonce or Queen, that damn pink featherball goes crazy with excitement. But she's really sweet (for example she'd never bite anyone even though she can chomp through enormous pieces of wood in a heartbeat and she murders cardboard boxes), especially when she's being petted. An annoying little raptor she can be but she means well.

I have two dogs (and a cat, and a cockatoo...). If they're barking I go bring them inside immediately; if they do it at my neighbors for any amount of time I'm embarrassed and want to apologize, not blame them for having the audacity to stand outside their own home while my pets make noise and disturb everyone.
