At episode 6, season 1 of 100. Wtf is it called 100? They're dying like goddamn flies, more like 87 or so by now!

I'd like to amend my previous statement. Vampire: the Masquerade is where it's at for me, although part of that could be nostalgia since it was the first time I got into the World of Darkness with RL friends (a guy at work played so I got pulled into their group) and had a blast.

For starters the layered metaplot you could do anything you wanted with, where you could plant as much paranoia as you liked and it could still be plausible. Playing inhuman hypocrites on a cycle of endlessly repeating their own mistakes, telling each other and themselves lies about freedom and independence when it's obvious they've neither of those things, fighting an utterly meaningless war between factions led, essentially, by the exact same kinds of Elders, all of it for nothing. And then the idea of having to figure out secrets so ancient there aren't records of them because writing hadn't been invented yet at the time, so the truth is hidden behind high-immortal methuselahs who don't even remember how to be people any more. But also the entire system of Generations and power held in the vitae (and stolen, if possible) was excellent, I really missed the pyramid scheme of Elder, ancillae and neonate in Requiem.

That's where it's at for me.

How are you planning to keep it from being an island-sphere (doing its own thing aside from all the others) and at the same time keeping its identity (so the PCs aren't merely yet another weird kind of Superfriends)?

It's never systems (sorry @Misadventure) or mechanics that make me care either way about a game. It's always people.

With some games it's nostalgia; I remember, possibly through rose colored lenses, how I was back at the time I was playing them. The things I was encountering for the first time, the fun I had when my own life was different.

With others - most of them - it's who I was playing with; folks whom I might not have spoken to in a while or who're on MSB reading this right now. 'Dream teams' which lasted for some time and produced roleplay I still remember to this day.

But none of it is transferable to others. I never loved a game because it was perfectly set up or just had some sort of perfect storm of a theme. It's always been people who evoked the strongest response from me - give me great players to be around and that's my favorite game.

So after my Fitbit kept losing its charge way faster than it ought to their support looked into it and verified there's something wrong with it... so they're sending me a replacement one directly (even though it was originally purchased from a SportsChek and not directly through their web site).

      So, awesome support from Fitbit!

@lordbelh I really liked The Magicians. SOME PEOPLE did not, but they are wrong.

      @Ghost Wtf.

All I can say is... okay, the first time someone pulls this off is fine, they didn't know. The second time... whatever, they maybe thought it was an isolated scenario.

At some point though they aren't going there for the hunting, are they.

As for that teenager, didn't she have parents or someone with custody who could intervene? That's pretty disturbing because at least the others were adults and could make their own choices.

Thoughts on The Man In The High Castle?

I'm kinda digging it, up to episode 4 atm. It has twists, and the villains are actually intelligent (in fact it's the heroes who're not).

    • RE: Are there any historically-themed WoD mu*?

@Misadventure The idea is to use the setting (as in the atmosphere, the general politics, the locale, the look-and-feel) rather than the plotlines themselves, I believe.

It's not about recreating PD, in fact we'd probably have to toss a lot of its specifics out right from the start.

@Groth I'll help run it, but I won't head it.

You have a bad habit of getting people to hypothesize and get into an idea and then going, "but I'm not gonna be in charge!" 😛

When I'm in charge it'll be because I code it. And since that hasn't happened yet... 🙂

@Ghost Wait, are we talking about a non WoD game using the CoD rules? I'm not clear on that.

@Coin I don't have a preference at this point about other supernaturals - I thought someone mentioned vampires so why not. Plus it gives people more options. But it's not important on its own, and more spheres could be added if there's interest.

I'd go for a Penny Dreadful kind of game in London, sure.

    • RE: Are there any historically-themed WoD mu*?

@Groth How about dividing the political pie into Houses?

The old Queen Victoria is dying, no one knows what will happen once she passes away. There's stability but it could be merely an image, an illusion... no one knows. Maybe have certain Houses strongly influenced/governed by specific supernatural types (there's a Vampire-themed one based on temporal political power, a Werewolf-based one with strong routes in military and law enforcement, etc).

Then we can have them all trying to do their thing while waiting for their world to be changed - maybe introduce a meta-threat looming in the horizon.

The real London of that age was fascinated with mysticism anyway so that works, too.
