I recently got (OK: found buried in my Humble Bundle stuff from back when I was still getting the Monthlies) 'This is the Police' and it's a fun casual game to play while RPing. It's resource management with a steep curve that isn't so frustrating that I get angry.

The story is a nice touch and I think it's well-balanced. I recommend checking it out if you like the style.

I'm glad to hear this! I thought it looked pretty good, but I know I'm in that weird niche of geeks who also likes cars.

I was just agreeing with it as a general point. I didn't play on The 100 (the theme didn't interest me), so I don't know what the 'starting' range was. I saw it as a general point for games that roll from beta to live and was agreeing with it. Don't worry.

The other issue with it is this: people can be shitty purposefully to force a thread into the Pit.

I've suspected that to be the case at least a few times.

It's time consuming because nodebb is shit about splitting threads. Hence the idea of deleting the offending posts (which as Roz brings up, means the person being lashed out at no longer has to see it). The thread could stay intact, it's an actual consequence, and it takes up less time overall.

That's how it has been done and clearly doesn't work. We've discussed deleting the offending posts and some people are very opposed to it.

The number of times my 'Hey this needs to be taken elsewhere' has actually worked is nil. I haven't seen it work for Gany, either. Sometimes people listen to Ark when he steps in, but....

I try it, because it's what people want (being given a warning for behavior they know full well is in poor taste), but at this point I'm feeling like it's just so people have more fodder for insisting we're useless/half-assing it/whatever insult is the favorite of the week on us three.

This sort of thing vexes me. So I'm glad the community is like "guys please, take all the time you need," but it's just frustrating that these companies still won't learn.

Like, gamers by and far are on board with the concept of: we will wait a few weeks to a few months longer for a polished game.

But the Studios still don't get it. Like hey, guys? We don't hate EA just because of monetization. We hate EA also because of their long history of treating their employees like shit.

If your game isn't ready, it isn't ready. Sit back, take a few weeks, polish the game. Let your people rest. Let them see their families. Let them work at the pace they need to make a polished, ready game that everyone will love.

Don't push yourselves and your people to make a deadline with something that isn't gonna be what you want. Because if you do that? Everyone's gonna be disappointed.

And it's just... vexing that the studios still don't get this point.

Well, it's just for Shadowhunter PCs, for one. You can be a gay vampire or mundane and have no issue whatsoever. I think the 'don't react' is more of a: don't sit on channels and accuse staff of being homophobic for retaining this aspect of theme / don't go around acting like staff is attacking you IRL for this.

And, I mean, some people like to RP that. I've encountered a few players over the years who are so obsessive over playing the person persecuted for their sexuality that they've convinced Staff to let them subvert theme (such as: the overall theme is that homosexuality is totally OK, but they somehow managed to be super persecuted by the society in game that is... accepting towards everyone else). So, for some? Might be a great theme to play.

The policy could use some improved wording, I agree... But it appears it's a) only in affect for one group on the game (not the game overall), and b) basically going 'This is just us retaining what we felt was an important part of theme. Staff is LGBT positive and we support your RL lifestyle. Please don't lash out at us or other players for what happens IC.'
