@lisse24 That or you are just a bit more south of me to get only ice. We're getting rain mixed with snow (Because Floridians have never /heard/ of the word 'sleet' before) and actual snow, that might actually stick. Wouldn't that be something...

      SOMETHING DREADFUL!

Wintry mix and sleet are different things!

Hellblade is another game I need to pick up at some point. But it was either that or Uncharted 4, which I had been meaning play for literally forever and never had a chance. Saw it used for 11 bucks and thew that in with it.

Hellblade is one of the reasons I really need a desk again. I had just started to delve into it before I moved.

      It is an amazing game.

@Auspice I even mentioned that to Raziel, that Cade would be willing to marry some lesbian and they'd both do their duty to keep the bloodlines going. Though with a tradition of arranged marriages, any woman would work and they could both have a guy on the side.

OK. That could be a lot of fun. Plus, y'know, younger generation. They could just go and get a home insemination kit. >.>

Ahem. All that said - yeah, it may not be a comfortable place for some. I get that. But I also, having read the first 3 (or maybe 4?) books... like @TNP said, the Clave is hella old fashioned. Like the city the Hunters live in is basically 1600s era Italy (or similar; been a handful of years since I read said books) and the older generation very much lives that way. It's part of why some of the main characters, I think, rebel in the ways they do (partying, etc.).

So I also think that you're not going to be as inclined to see a lot of lashback IC since it is the older generation like that and not the younger.

That kinda makes me think of how numb I am when customers would threaten to sue for x or y reason as a scare tactic. Please, feel free. Sue the company all you want. It doesn't scare me, it just annoys me that you keep talking out of your ass.
      #JadedByCustomerService

I frequently screencap/share those threats with my team with a 'please do' joke.

Or my other favorite. the 'I'M CALLING THE BBB.' Yes. Because we're following our clearly posted policies.
      Have fun with that.

Y'know, this makes me think of maybe a system where... activity could earn you the slot. Like, be an active/contributing player (not just a vote-whore, tho most games limit you anyway these days to only vote/nom someone once n a week) and you can be a Force User.

Lower bar, but rewards people for being involved, not just popular, and could also help in keeping an active non-FU populace.

(Me, I really just want a Miraluka who is properly force sensitive vs. just 'sees in the Force' so the restrictions don't bother me)

This is who I work for.
      It's a job. That's really all I can say.

...cause it starts at like, $9/hr. And hours aren't guaranteed at the outset. So for people looking for work and desperate, it's something... but I wouldn't recommend it or suggest it long-term. 😕

Does this game have the super detailed code system that every other SAGA seems to have?

IE all the info files on feats and what not, and the +map system?

I dunno about map system, but! It has the super detailed +sinfo files. Dahan's on board for codeage.

@mietze Personally? I'd make 'logs on wiki' as a big part of it, if I were designing it. Like can we look at the wiki and see that you're getting out there and contributing among a variety of people? Ok!

It's not an easy thing to balance.

Most of us want to play a Jedi because of reasons @Arkandel stated. In my case... 18+ years MU*ing and I've never gotten the opportunity. While making it a vote by playerbase does still have favoritism, it at least increases my odds because on past SW games, I've never been close enough to Staff to be chosen.

But I also don't want a game that's All Jedi All the Time (unless it's like, a specific Jedi Academy game which now that I think about it could be pretty awesome).

I'm totally happy with my spy/pilot on FoH. I'll keep playing her even if I get to play a Force Sensitive alt. I think that's the main worry a lot of places have: if we don't limit things somehow, we'll have a game of FUs and nothing else.

@ghost said in Good or New Movies Review:

Also, bear in mind, Heather Langenkamp is a name from Nightmare on Elm Street. Ashley Laurence is not reprising the role of Kirsty. IIRC the last one she was in (despite me having a soft spot for it) was apparently a mess and it helped her redo her kitchen.

I'm okay without Doug Bradley as the Hellpriest. I believe there are other people who could have made that role amazing. For example, could you imagine if Bill Nighy had chosen to play Pinhead instead of Viktor in Underworld? I think we would have shit ourselves with how well Nighy might have handled that.

Or even take an idea from the comics and have Doug Bradley escape Hell as Spencer and Ashley Laurence take his place as the Kirsty Hellpriest.

There's a LOT Hellraiser can do, but even now Clive Barker isn't writing this content like he used to. The Scarlet Gospels was disappointing, IMO, and the idea of a Harry D'Amour (Lord of Illusions Bakula character) and Hellpriest showdown was pure fucking gold...but Barker 2017 isn't Barker 1992. It felt off, with a weird Scooby Squad element and another magical negro trope.

Another thing to consider... if they'd let the IP go and a big name studio picked it up... Doug Bradley is not a young man anymore. The likelihood of another studio simply replacing him would have been extremely high.

(Probably by doing a 'reboot' of the series, at that.)

I honestly doubt we'll see another with Clive Barker fully on board, etc... even if Dimension ever lets it go.

I don't know quite where the sweet spot is for campaign length, but a frequent change of scenery is definitely something I think is key to the game's concept. The freedom of being able to go different places was the primary reason I picked a First Cylon War setting over the traditional Second War one.

Yeah, this is what's always made me REALLY want to dig into the First Cylon War as a setting. The holocaust of the reimagined series is INCREDIBLY compelling, but it makes those games difficult to sustain. You always have to kind of reach to find excuses for new PCs to rando show up (though we managed on Cerb and other games), and it cuts off a huge amount of the setting. I love how on BSU you can treat Tauron/Picon/Canceron/Etc. as actual planets that are being tangibly fought for, not just blasted wastes people occasionally get sentimental about.

I've actually wanted to do a First War game for a really long time, as a number of people have known. So I was really excited when I learned about BSU. 🙂

"Ugh, that girl is skinny! She needs to eat a sandwich."

There is no way they'd ever say "that girl is overweight, she needs to stop eating sandwiches". What gives?

Not around you. You're a guy.

But trust me: they say this all the time.

      They do.
Or they find way to subtly nitpick the way you eat your sandwiches. Particularly relatives.

My mother, who after her weight loss surgery still weighs more than I do, is still trying to convince me that I should get weight loss surgery.

And I've been around the women who will try telling you how you should check out this or that fad diet. They may not be telling you directly to stop eating sandwiches, but they're telling you.
