      @Autumn said in RL Anger:

When I approach a traffic light and see that, on the far side of the intersection, traffic has ground to a halt so that I will be sticking out into traffic if I proceed through, I come to a halt at the traffic light even if it's still green.

Sometimes, once I've stopped, traffic on the far side lurches forward far enough to allow me to proceed through, and, if the light is still green, I will do just that.

And every time, without fail, every single one of the paste-eating morons behind me follows right on through and blocks the intersection anyway.

This is why I'll often stop, even if there's enough room for me and, say, one car behind me.

Because I hate being in the other lanes and unable to go because the intersection is blocked.

uh oh guys you better stop before @surreality shows up and tells you off for not using the political forum and having too much fun

Politics brews anger. That's why it's not appropriate for RL Things I Love.

Because, y'know, how dare some of us want to go to the RL Things I Love thread and talk about uplifting/cool stuff, not see some psychotic rant about politicians anally fisting people.

Can we maybe go back to keeping politics in the politics section, maybe? Because really, we have one for that purpose.

      A hundred times this.

    • RE: Star Wars: Insurgency

I personally feel equating Star Wars FCs to comic book FCs in a MU* sense is sort of unfair.

The reason being that the vast majority of comic book games do a 'Year One' style for FCs. Meaning you choose what history to build for them. Which comic era or even your own take on their background. Add that to the fact that there are so many more of them (with the size of the MU* community nowadays, I think it'd be impossible to run out of Marvel FCs).

But with Star Wars, you have a fairly small pool of FCs unless you go into people apping random Cantina patrons and the like. And a lot of us have been there. On games with FCs. Where plot crops up and the whole scene centers on the FCs in the plot, treating OCs as if they're just there to ooh and ahh at the FCs. Or the majority of FCs sit in their rooms and idle.

Will that happen here? Maybe not. But I've been in the shoes of the OC-player because I'm not cool or Staff-friendly enough to play an FC, struggling to ever feel involved and being told that to 'keep with the spirit of the game' everything must filter through the FCs. Being told 'Your character is special because they get to witness these major figures do their thing!'

That's like telling the kid who sat on the bench the entire season that they're special because they're part of the team.

Who knows. Maybe in six months or so, this game will be great and someone I trust will come along and tell me 'No, seriously, people who aren't FCs and aren't bffs with Staff DO get to be involved!' and I'll happen on by. But I just don't have the energy anymore to put a lot of time and love into an app only to sit on the fringes at every turn.

@Auspice I choose "resting bitch face" characters all the time! There is just a certain appeal there.

And Aubrey Plaza is perfect for it, really.

@Auspice I had a feeling we had some character types we enjoy to play in common.

      What can I say...

I took a certain pleasure in having 'Resting Bitch Face' in my description. 😄

Weird gallstones are... well, weird. A friend of mine had to have her gall bladder out and the stones it had were apparently crystalline in shape. Like, long, narrow, faceted.

I wonder how that sort of thing happens?

Keeping busy, yeah. I'm learning to, when my brain starts to go off into 'panic mode.' Happened last night, so I went off and followed a half hour yoga video.

      It helped, immensely.

The radio play is quite good, too.

Sometimes when you're new to a character, your character will 'click' with someone... but you sorta missed the boat on any possible IC relationship. But the RP around that can still be good.

Like two chars that you established have been friends for a while. And she (your char) works on convincing him that he should 'try dating again,' with the secret hope that he'll ask her.

And then they're chatting and he starts telling her how he's going to ask out someone else. She eventually sheepishly admits that she'd been hoping he'd ask her (and he admits that he had sorta considered it, but wasn't sure)...

... and it was a good enough scene that in the end, I'm good with whatever outcome. Like there was no OOC weirdness or anything. Just that sort of realistic / interesting dynamic that (IMO) gives depth to PCs and can lead to good things down the road. Will they be awkward around each other? How will it affect the friendship moving forward? Will he ask out the other girl and if so... what if she finds out that my char has/had an interest in him?

Lots of potential for dynamic RP. I am pleased.

Having been on trazodone for insomnia two separate times in my life... It can be very hit or miss.

The first time, it was amazing. Mind, I would be hella drugged as it was kicking in (I had friends who would call just to talk to me; never remembered the convos, but apparently they were hilarious).

The second time, I'd still stay up all night... but spend the following day feeling drugged (like that 'just woke up from anesthesia' type of drugged).

I wish I could offer advice, but I usually end up finding myself on ambien when the insomnia cycles get real bad. When they're only 'mostly bad' (like usual), I find that puzzles help. Sudoku is my go-to. It keeps my brain occupied with something positive and sleep has a better chance of sneaking up on me.

That's exactly what pets are good for!

      Unless it's a porcupine.

Or one of those asshole cats that don't want hugs unless you don't want hugs.

My cat can be one of those cats.

Wake me up at 3 AM for cuddles? SURE!
Snuggle with me when I need hugs? NOPE.

Climb up to stand on my boobs while I'm trying to work? Every damn day.
Curl up by my side when I'm sick? Heck no, that's prime 'throw my ball' time.

Having a day where everything hurts.

I don't have many good days (a few a year, roughly), but I definitely have worse ones. Ones where I can't push the 'noise' to the back of my head as easily. Days where I want to just sleep because at least then, I won't be as aware of it.

I could really use a hug.
