      How Big Is the Kingdom?
Roughly around half the size of the US, it's not completely theirs, either. There are wild and badlands at the edges of the Kingdom. But it's not inhabited by any other large nation or kingdom.

      Are There Other Kingdoms?
Yes! However, the Sacred Seed Kingdom is very isolationist. They're aware that there are other people's out there-- and even more than the roaming nomads at their borders who terrify them... But they mostly don't have much contact with them. There are rumors of foreign countries with different types of magic, but most non-elemental magic is looked upon with suspicion or downright hostility.

      What's the Tech Level?
Frontier / Wild West kind of... The very very rich Seedless have access to prototypes of cars, and other mechanical wonders. There's telegraphs and maybe even telephones. However, technology containing lead and copper makes the Seeded sick to be around it. So technology has been hampered in some ways. The Seeded control the vast majority of the wealth, and they don't fund things that will make them sick.

      Do Outside Nations of Tech?
Maybe. That might be part of why the Sacred Seeds are so isolationist. Legend has it that they once sent a delegation across the sea by boat to explore the world... For only one survive to come back, terribly ravaged by an unknown sickness, and tell tales of smog choked skies, and ash covered grounds...

Do Outside Nations Have Seeded or Seedless?
No, that is only found in the Kingdom of the Sacred Seed. Whatever magic the outside world has comes from some other source...

@cupcake Yes, but I have everything open. Everything. šŸ˜› Marches down to Baronies.

      @Roz @Sparks

Okay, cool. That's totally understandable and what I figured would be the case. I was just suddenly a little worried that it would be like 'Voices must be social leaders', rather than 'Voices who aren't social voices will need help sometimes'.

I try as my character to stick to my lanes and not start pushing into other people's niches just because I have the XP for it. My prince is clearly written to be not great a politics, but he could become a military commander trying to follow in the footsteps of his uncle. Where as my duchess is more of a social character and has no business in combat, ever. I try not to cross those streams.

Kids do act differently with different people. However, if they learn they can get away with certain behaviors with certain people they will.

My cousin's girl knows if it isn't her turn to go with grandma and grandpa if she cries enough she will go as well.

Having lived in a house with three kids all 5 and under (and niw an infant has been fostered and will likely be adopted), two of have disabilities--

I no longer judge how anyone raises their kids.

Kids are hard, man. Even the toddler who had no disabilities had his little quirks that made him difficult at times.

Kids are hard. I still want -one-, but I am prepared for it to be the hardest thing I ever undertake.

@three-eyed-crow Yeah, to be honest, I wouldn't encourage like a Seedless Fisherman concept. If you want to be a Seedless you're going to be an exceptional one. One with some hook into the tapestry of the story, or one in a position of power that gives you more agency than say Random Baker Seedless (who doesn't work with the fruit).

You're going to be: Captain of the Thorns, or The Up and Coming Chef who is experimenting with how they prep the fruit to improve its effects. You're going to be a member of the secret assassin's guild...

      etc. etc.

So lead and copper have no impact on the Seedless? What about weapons? Are there bans on the materials or can a Seedless grab a copper dagger and really do some damage against one of the Seeded?

Seemingly has no impact on the Seedless, and yes there's probably a ban on those metals in the Seeded Districts. And yeah, a Seedless with their enhanced strength and a copper dagger would fuck up a Seeded pretty bad-- assuming they got close enough to them. A Seeded with fire is going to be harder than Seeded of rain to deal with.

      @tempest said in CoD/W:tF 2E?:

The room you log into still talks about werewolves, last I saw.

Thank you for pointing that out, I’ll get that fixed after I’ve had some sleep. (Not at home right now).

The "wiki" was just a wikidot with a cover page and character pages.

We do have +news up, actually thanks to @JinShei (I believe). Though to be honest they need to be gone through and updated— I’ve been focused more on getting people IC. And well work. Plus this particular wiki is temporary.

I don’t want to rag on the game, but acting like they pulled off some miracle because they copy/pasted a 10 year old MU is....pretty weird and feels very MSB circle jerk-y.

While I appreciate @surreality’s kind words, I don’t think anyone involved in the game thinks we’ve pulled off something super awesome. My point is whether or not it’s slow coming on here and saying it’s slow isn’t going to help draw players.

(Personally I don’t think it’s going to particularly slow except in my updating things for the reboot. Those who are there and approved are RPing plenty.)

ETA: Reading the entire thread helps. I can investigate how Theno'sno's thing stores place descs. I know it is different.

      Who Tends The Sacred Gardens?
The Gardeners. This is often Seedless or Seeded who have an affinity for plants. Once they join the Order of the Sacred Garden, they rarely leave it. They are akin to isolationist monks. Only a select trusted few of the five Courts interact with them. And rumors have it that working so closely with the Sacred Seeds does something to them... When they are outside of their Gardens and before the prying eyes of society, they wear deep hoods, and tend to keep their hands within their robes. They rarely speak above a whisper.

The Gardeners are holy, and honored ... but deeply disturbing.

    • RE: Pitches for plots and characters

Granny Favors: Protagonists happen upon a nice old lady while she was ā€œgardeningā€. She was actually doing something nefarious and needs to get rid of the protagonists in a way that doesn’t lead back to her. So she sends them on a series of increasingly tasks, hoping they’ll die by misadventure.

Originally mage-y these could be edited for other splats:

Jennassa's Worm: This strange parasite is named for the first victim. An Arrow mage by the name of Jennassa. She was an Obrimos and a sentinel of the Consilium of Zurich. She was sent on assignment to investigate an anomaly in Bern. There were reports of people acting strangely and seeing strange creatures when they went into the Aare. There she found a strange create that had floated down the Aare. She found in the crate a bunch of robin's egg sized green rocks. She took them back to the Arrow's headquarters in Bern to try and run some tests on them. While she was experimenting one of them hatched into a medium-sized snake like creature. The creature then bite her and crawled inside of her body. From there it drove her paranoid and insane. She eventually killed herself, but not before killing a sleepwalker that was assisting her. The entire compound was sanitized by the Guardians after an outbreak of the worms caused three more deaths. You can't find anymore recorded incidents of Jennassa's Worms.

Black Motes: You also find a report of an incident where some spirits called the "black motes" were encountered. These motes had the ability to attach themselves to the Amygdala of a person, and force them into a constant state of panic and fear. Once attached to the victims the only way to cure it was said to be death. However, a Master of Mind found that she could alleviate the fear response. The motes were eventually killed via subjecting them to bright lights, and the affects faded with their death.

Azkhahics: Abyssal creatures that live in the dark places. These creatures are said to have dominion over fear. With one touch they can cause someone to die of fear alone. Their powers range from causing hallucinations, mass paranoia, and lifelong mental scaring. They can be banished by facing them with by exemplifying everything they are not. Courage, healthy mind, light, etc.

The Lurking Terrors: Lastly. There is a creature referred to as 'The Lurking Terror'. You can't find if it is Abyssal or Spiritual, but it seems likely to be Abyssal. The creature seems bound to the laws of terror (whatever those are). It has the ability to spread fear like a disease and cause people to hallucinate.

The Laws of Terror: As previously mentioned. The laws of terror are a modern-day notion- according to the Libertines. And a primordial things according to the Mystagoguges. However, you come across a bit of research that is tangentially connected to them. About how the Abyss is spawning new monsters off of what Humanity is bringing into the world. And that the Laws of Terror are connected to several new creatures.

Fear As A Disease: As I mentioned previously. You come across notes and studies. A libertine has published a small essay on fear as a disease. Detailing his experience with a group of sleepers. How one of them gets afraid of something, tells about that fear, and then the fear spreads among them. Becoming stronger and harder to combat. something that could cure Durandal's child in Deus Solum.

Anguish's Tear: This is a legendary artifact said to be able to breathe life into even dust, so long as the dust once held the spark of a soul. It dates back to bcc. It was said to have been kept in an area of the world that is now somewhere part of Africa. It was said to have been formed from the anguished cries of a Life Archmaster whose child was killed by an abyssal intruder. Unfortunately this legend has never been confirmed, and the only images you can find of Anguish's Tears are sketches that are at least a hundred years old. The last mysterium expedition that went looking for it never returned. The one before that about two hundred years ago only one party member came back- a Mastigos master of space, who teleported back to his home base -and he came back wrong. He had signs of abyssal taint and was raving about living shadows.

Dunvegan's Jewel: This legend appears starting about six hundred years ago. Rumors are that deep in the bowels of Castle Dunvegan in Scotland there is a necklace made of perfected gold and perfected diamonds, that while it is worn the wearer cannot die and is afflicted by no disease. You do manage to find what is supposedly a photograph of it, but it is blurry and the glare obnoxious. The quality is so poor you're not certain you would even be able to properly describe it for sympathetic connections.

Janessa's Herb: The last lead you find is an herb created by life/matter Archmage that is said to cure any disease, even those that cannot normally be cured by life magic. The herb only grows in the ruins of her workshop, deep underground in the antarctic. There is a map of the antarctic listed and a couple of places where the mysterium /thinks/ her lab is... but they are not certain. No one has ever gone and come back from Janessa's lab. People tend to disappear when they go to the suspected areas in the antarctic.

      Darkwater had one policy:

"If it's a problem, we'll deal with it."

And then eventually a "conduct" semi-policy that outlined things like:

      • Don't be touchy-feely with people you don't know are okay with it.
      • Stop if someone says stop.
      • No Rape where other people are forced to interact with it if they don't want to.

      Will There Be Roster Characters?
Yes. However, we're thinking that every six-months or sow we will probably increase the amount of XP or stats of characters on the roster. Or characters who have not been played in a long time will be killed off, and the roster given something fresh.

      Will There Be OCs?
Absolutely! If only because I don't want to try and beg @saosmash to come and slave away in the princess mines all the time for me. >.>

Can I Be An OC Royal?
Yes, except not an heir of the rulers. You can be a niece, a nephew, someone at least one family step away from the throne. There will be a certain number of rosters who are children of the Rulers created, and unless others are born or reach age of majority during the course of the game no more will be added.

Can I Be A Seedless Royal OC?
If you really want to, sure. But you'll be one that got cast out of their family. There may be one or two rosters created who are Seedless Royals, if they fit with the story. But otherwise since Seedless Royals are typically Weeded, it's going to be a rare and roster only concept.

      Can I Be A Gardener?
Not a Sacred Gardener. You can be a mundane Gardener. You can play trying to join the Gardeners Order, but once you join that PC would be retired.

    • RE: What series are you reading?

Anyone read the Matthew Swift series by Kate Griffin? It's like a cross of changeling and spirit-mage. She's got a spinoff series for it called Magicals Anonymous where Matthew Swift makes appearances but isn't the narrator anymore.

It's really neat and eccentric and full of amazing things.

One of my favorite quote's from the books is:

"A message scratched into the glass window of the bus—

      END OF THE LINE.

Not from one of the Whites; they knew that such a message could be a threat, as well as an instruction."

I've never finished "Stray Souls" the first in Magicals Anonymous (I really should, maybe I'll read that on the bus home today.) But I tore through the other books. (Maybe it's time to reread them, hmmm.)

      I highly recommend them.
