@sunnyj You posted in a development thread saying “announcing games before they come out kills them”. @ZombieGenesis didn’t announce a game, he opened a development thread discussing what he wants to do and asking people for opinions and ideas.

RE: The Shift Life (Changing Breeds + GMC)
I've got enough details of the metaplot worked out now, and some more people giving me some sounding board thoughts for it. So things are progressing along well enough. There's some codey things that need to be done, and the breed bonuses will be worked out.
We'll let folks know when we're done.

RE: Arx on github
It’s really tempting to grab this and run (as it is I have some stuff I do want to take I just haven’t had a chance to install more than basic code), but I’ve been a little bit worried about seeming to be an “Arx clone” if we went with the same diceroller / system stuff even with changes we’d need to make for our particular thematics.

RE: Development Thread: Sacred Seed
Small Update, mostly decisions:
A) Unless someone wants to volunteer to make a bunch of houses / rosters— I’m going to make rosters for the major duchies of each court, and the guilds, and then anyone that pops up in the backgrounds of those characters.
B) I’m thinking about using FAE for the game, and so am thinking of doing a small campaign to test it out. If you have an interest in that it would like run on Fridays. Will be set in the past of the games timeline.
C) I thought about reloading with the Arx DB but I’m worried I won’t learn python as much if I just take the code already available— as much as I love the Arx code. But I waffle because “why reinvent the wheel?”.

@Three-Eyed-Crow we are definitely not banning trans people or anything like that.
I didn't seriously think so and was mostly being tongue and cheek and also wanted to say WE ALL KNOW THIS GAME THIS THREAD IS ABOUT ISN'T BANNING TRANS PEOPLE, RIGHT?
No I appreciate that interjection, as someone looking to someday make a character on GH and who usually plays some flavor of non-hetero characters.

And now he's having movie night in our living room with a bunch of people from work. -_-
His Xmas party is how we caught covid.
....Have you considered setting his hair on fire and telling him not to worry about it because he can just put on a hat? Because I feel like that would be a reasonable response at this point.
Ugh, might need to.
@Ominous unfortunately no cellars here to wall him into.
I only need to make it until June, and then the boyfriend and I are getting our own place. I'm so tired of living with these people. :x

RE: Arx on github
@tehom It is a little bit of a silly worry since there's a lot of WoD games built on the bones of Darkwater and I think at this point @Thenomain and I might but the only ones who could point out where those bones are. However, Arx is so unique and even Darkwater was just one of many WoD games so I think it would be easier to pinpoint things.

@Cobaltasaurus AUGH About 1 in 5 of my underwear does this, there are just a few pairs that will ROLL THEMSELVES DOWN MY BODY FOR NO REASON. So I'll be walking in the grocery store and my underwear is just peeling itself down the inside of my pants and I'm trying to surreptitiously fix it by shoving my arm down my pants in the middle of an aisle hoping no one rounds the corner on this space fo 10 seconds....
99% of my underwear. ....until I started wearing thongs recently. Which are apparently magic. insert shrug emoji All my normal underwear? 99% of it will have rolled itself down my ass like they're living entities that hate my butt.

@cobaltasaurus You are allowed to tell your doctor 'No.'
While technically this is true, many of us have such limited health-care options that we kinda aren't, because if the doctor fires us, we can't get another before we die.
Yeah, I'm pretty fucking pissed because the radiologist gave me my report. They couldn't go over it with me but the impression is pretty damned clear. And what's wrong could be something easily remedied with antibiotics OR it could be life threatening.
I've got an appointment with a new primary doctor and I can take the radiologist's report with me when I go. But that's assume I don't give them my insurance and they go: "You have to pay your entire deductible before you can be seen" like the last primary I tried to see.
If that happens again I have to go back to seeing this doctor that is letting me be in a situation which could either be a relative easy fix (but I am being stuck in pain until it is), or it could be life threatening.

@highfalutin Of course, thank you! I'm glad to see it being used.

RE: The OOC Masquerade ?
Yeah I kinda like the idea of a game that still uses character wikis but tells people not to spoil things, so you find our for yourself what everyone is.
Like I would even wanna go so far as to not have many channels...

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
@Carex Except you could have started with 'What do you mean by what is and isn't acceptable in your house, Buttercup'? Rather than going full force. No one disagrees that telling your kid what they can explore is ok. But we do disagree that trying to keep them safe while they explore is abusive.

Not sure whether to put this in real world peeves or health thread but:
Had an ultrasound on Monday, got told "your doctor will have the results by this afternoon". Doctor told me "if you don't hear back from us in 24hrs, call us". Didn't hear anything on Monday, so called Tuesday to find out what was up...
"Oh, <your doctor> isn't going to be in for the rest of the week."
New doctor has looked over the results and taken the five minutes needed to assure me I am probably not dying.

To avoid TS-related mishaps I'd say definitely clear the log as soon as a room is vacant, time it out if an hour has passed since the last pose, etc etc.
So.
On WindyCity Whirlwind had coded up the places code to grab snippits of things posed in them. So that people with post cognition merits would get them at random intervals based on gamewide activity, and would see things that had taken places in public places, right?
People TS'd in bars, dinners, and nightclubs via places code often. So if you had post cognition, wherein a public place, and the grid was active that night you'd have a fairly good chance of getting someone's TS scene suddenly shunted at you via your post cognition ability.
Whirlwind eventually had to turn the code off because people got tired of seeing TS.
ETA: I @Whirlwind, but he was a good example for me of: 'I can code this, but should I code this'.

RE: Welcome to the Euphoria!
@TiredEwok @Testament Thanks! I'm working on a small paragraph on the different races atm, but here's a little thing to note about characters:
We're All A Little Mad Here
Waking up from extended cryogenic sleep tends to play havoc on the mind or the body, or both! As such everyone aboard the Euphoria has their own little quirk or character tick. Every character comes out of chargen with two character quirks or flaws. They can be mental, social, or physical. One is chosen by the player, and one is chosen by staff. A mental quirk might be nightmares or the belief that they are being watched by something outside of the ship. A physical flaw might be the character being hard of hearing, or the having a limp. A social quirk might be having a stutter or not liking to make eye contact. Flaws and quirks can range to mild inconveniences to things that make daily life difficult but should never be things that make the character unplayable in the long term.

@buttercup I don't really think thanks is necessary, here. I feel like most of read what you were saying and got what you meant. That it wasn't WHAT but HOW. However, thank you for clarifying for us.

Oh hey @Cobaltasaurus, this is higher end "designer" code I guess, but if there was a system that could calculate your weapon(s) into initiative, since everyone, myself included, forgets them...
So that would fall under a equip/combat code.
