@sockmonkey I think Batman, right now, is a bit played out. At the very least they could continue the The Dark Knight franchise, but they might have to get creative as to why Damian Wayne is Catwoman's son rather than Talia's, among other things.

@wahoo Yeah, I had a couple more years of being shitty to people after that, but I've mellowed out consistently and now I play in chill games and only pay mind to having fun by playing my characters and entertaining others with plots.

@wahoo All the same, Firan brought out the worst in all of us, but I can't blame the game culture alone. We all had it in us to be shitty people to one another, so that's my take away after almost 4 years of it (blessedly) closing down.

@wahoo I'm pretty sure they only did that in certain cases, sadly! I haven't heard of staff warning murder victims in any other situation.

Just as a, like, completely unrelated note, the impunity of the murder itself is bullshit, considering Taleena/Firan staff sure loved to punish criminals by skewing criminal investigations way into the Guard's advantage.

@caryatid He tends to haunt Lords and Ladies games and Battlestar MUSHes for the most part. I've never seen him on a WoD game.

Yeah, one story I heard directly from him was how he was an Army Vet who saw the breaking down of the Wall of Berlin and then got his legs blown off by an IED in Iraq.

The other story that I heard from others is that he has cancer, et cetera. I don't think either story is true, and maybe he needs sympathy to feed into some sort of complex.

Either way, I have seen him use that manipulative behavior on staff to make them feel as though some other player was giving him a hard time, because she refused to cross boundaries with him. It wasn't good to see a friend slandered like that and when I tried to talk to staff about it, it was too late; they sided with him.

He also has this nasty habit of leaving a game as a set of characters, then using a VPN and coming back as another set.

Someone should rename this thread to 'The Roast'

One thing you could also do is up the general competency. I love the new MET for that. New MET, your dots are much different, and you have a different spread. You start with one skill at 4 dots, two at 3 dots, three at 2 dots and four at 1 dot, then you have 30 XP on top of that. XP is generally incremental though, so it doesn't 'stretch' as far as 30 would in 2e.

It provides what I feel is a good level of competency and spread, and you don't have as many min-max options so you get things a bit more organic (someone can min max, sure, but it's more difficult to do s0). At least that's how it feels to me.

Well, I am a fan of Tempest's model more so than any others. I don't really mind if 35 XP is huge in 2e or not.

The problem with WoD is 'starting' characters are never complete. So unless everybody in the game is a babyvamp, it feels weird.

I like 40xp. But I also like zero further XP gain after that. You get 40xp. Make your character. The end.

My preference is not popular though.

On a different note, please don't ever let people go past 100xp.

Agreed. Also, if any character has over 100 XP it just gets into an arms race of comic proportions, which, frankly, sucks.

I think all mythologies have stories that would parallel what Earth magic is: a mixture of fate and luck blessings and curses, dragon's blood that renders people invincible, dunking your child in a sacred, God-blessed river to make them invulnerable.

@zombiegenesis Yeah, I don't think 10 XP isn't enough for me to build someone well-rounded so I probably wouldn't play. I like the 30-35 range fine, with that said. Even if it's 25+10 as incentive.

I like 40-50 XP starting, and yeah, cutting down the dailies and going with cycles measured in logs and PrPs, up to a weekly limit. (Say, 4, tops?)
