It all seems overcomplicated, to me. "Here, let's give you more artificial balancing acts! Forget having a cool theme/setting!"

I'd rather have lost George Martin than George or Martin.

RE: Good TV
Women's Wrestling could have been a big thing, if not for Fabulous Moolah being an untalented, skeezy slag of a human being.

Belatedly, why am I a grumpy old man? I figured you'd drop me in the Edgelord group. Or the Troll group.
Or even the Autistic group.
I'm a little let down. Maybe I'm getting too old for this. Maybe you damn kids just don't understand what the old days were like.
Goddamnit get off my lawn.

Memes and gifs are truly creative outlets that do not show a lack of originality at all.

I make it a point to never type anything I wouldn't say to someone's face.

So edgy. I will take a stance -against- cancer. That will show people that I am on the right side!
Not like those people who -like- cancer.

RE: Good TV
This is the good TV thread. Not the 'tick all the boxes for a cookie cutter drama' TV thread.
Sense8 is Modern Family for hipsters.

I'm on tramadol right now for severe tooth pain. It makes my whole body itch, keeps me awake, and makes it so I can't go to the bathroom.
I prefer that to the pain.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Austin is not hipster central anymore. A lot of them died off. Also, Austin's public transportation isn't terrible anymore. Also we recently got Uber/Lyft back, and have had Fasten for quite some time so there's really a lot of options if you don't wanna pay 10-15 bucks for a taxi.

RE: RL Anger
My sister bumped my appointments every time I would set one with her to cut my hair. I drive 4-5 hours to visit family, sleep, then go to get my hair done by her the next day. She knows it's my only time to get it done so she uses my appointment as her 'squeeze other clients in' time, since I'm family and she knows I'll wait.
She knows I'll wait, and pay her 20 dollars for a haircut, plus 10-20 dollar tip, plus take the family out to eat after. Well, this time I had enough after she bumped me for a -DYE JOB-. Which is... a long ass time. 1.5-2 hours. She expected me to wait the whole damn time in her lobby. I told her no, and that I wouldn't be using her services again, and that I would be leaving a bad review online.
My mom said 'If you do that you're not welcome here anymore. At least she is -doing- something with her life.' So I immediately hit the big red button, because -fuck them- for saying I am not doing anything. I have my own apartment, my own car, in a city where I moved by myself and handle all my own shit.
My sister has never been alone and bounced from boyfriend to boyfriend to husband to husband, always being taken care of. She's lost custody of her daughter once, and gone bankrupt as well. Also I make more money than her.
But because she's married (third husband) and has a kid, the family just assumes she's doing something more with her life than me? Fuck them. I put up a 1 star review on facebook for a business that has 1500 five-star reviews, moving their total down to... 4.9 stars. And that .1 star is worth the family cutting me off.
So that's the story of how a 1-star review made my family cut me off. Life, am I right?

RE: RL Anger
My entire family recently cut me off over a bad online review.
I'm just about done with family as well.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I've been playing Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. It's... actually a lot of fun. Positioning and communication matter a lot more than just a good shot. Taking objectives and supporting your team give a lot more points than kills, which are mostly inconsequential.
My first experience in the game was hearing that napalm was coming, so I dove through a window. I looked back the way I came and saw my entire squad melting and screaming. If you enjoy FPSes, I highly recommend it.

RE: Subverted Matrix style MU*
I always wanted to write a story where a large portion of the population is inserted into VR and must perform for 'points' in various worlds such as 'Medieval' or the like while the rich enjoy and vote on their favorite actors. When you die, your memory of your previous character is purged and you can use your points to buy advantages for your next character, or improve your out-of-stasis-pod life, or buy a better 'job', such as moving up from dickwasher to janitor or something.
That would probably work pretty well in a MU*, I suppose.

I need to find a TT group in Austin. I see there's a few posted on Meetup who are playtesting the new 5E, but they're on days I work. I am a sad, sad panda.

RE: RL Anger
Whatever their cause, they don't want him to die 'on their watch'. For plausible deniability or some nonsense. Like they keep trying to say the pressure wound was pre-existing and all that, when he was admitted right after his paralysis.

RE: RL Anger
My uncle is in the VA due to incompetence of his doctors. WHile in the care of the VA he developed pressure wounds. He is dying slowly. Now the VA wants to discharge him with his new injuries on top of his full-body paralysis. This I knew. This I accepted.
He can talk, barely, and with great effort. He told my mom that on Monday one of the 'patient relations' people talked to him about how he shouldn't want to be a burden on others and how his family is driving so far to see him, and how he needs to either push to get himself discharged to live with family or, in her words 'Let go'.
...what. The. Fuck. People. My mom called me crying about this, and I just want to drive to Houston where he is and assault that person who told him this. All because they want to shunt him out of the hospital and into private care to avoid responsibility for his inevitable death on their watch.
Fuck this country's healthcare system.

RE: RL Anger
@Misadventure Cheaper rent, everyone I met when I first moved here shook my hand and said 'Welcome to Austin!', people leave each other alone with a super low crime rate, racism is... very mild, and per homophobia I've had two trans co-workers so far and haven't seen a lick of anyone being derogatory to them.
Also our live music scene is the best in the country. So we pretty much beat Seattle at everything except for rain and depression.
