I'm appreciative of the upvotes, but there hasn't been much nterest in the offer.(aside from one maybe. So there is hope!) I'm a little disappointed! Maybe if I rephrase it so it sounds like moving in would be doing me a huge favor? I know this community likes helping folks out and all. Or it might mean we are all doing well. Which would be awesome.

The best part? Supposedly it's not even the best ramen in town. I have -better ramen- to look forward to.

Being four hours out of town when I realize my apartment keys are missing and being told by the apartment office that no, they can't help me because it's their lunch break soon and to call back later only to finally get someone two hours later after calling repeatedly who tells me that they couldn't help me and tell me I wasted my time by calling thus trapping me in a limbo of wondering if I told them to change the locks in time and if my apartment will be bare and empty when I return. I hope I wasn't robbed. But I won't know until Friday. Because the apartment people won't even freaking check for me so I can file a police report.

Well I'd ask folks I sent money or help to post here as a reference but I totally forgot who I did and also don't want to embarrass people. But I am on the level. This is a serious offer, at least until I find a roommate and then it will probably be off the table. I'll post if that happens though.

You can't take advantage of someone if they don't consider it being taken advantage of.

As for being murdered... eh. It is what it is.

I get free downtown parking 24/7, so anyone with me has super easy access to SXSW. It's a private building with a private parking garage, so no tourists/out of towners will be there. Convenient as -fuck-.

So, this isn't an open call to crazies, but... talking to someone else on here about their situation got me to thinking.

Years ago, I met people on a MUSH and they let me move in with them and... I screwed it up for myself and couldn't hold down a job and ruined it. But they made that offer for me, and I would really like to pay it forward.

I've donated money to a few people on here already and given out bus tickets/etcetera when people needed it. So this isn't a 'first' for me. I'm not some creeper who is trying to lure people in.

So... if you can pass a criminal background check/initial drug test? I can -possibly- get you a job in Austin for 11-13 an hour to start. Or if you can get your own interviews before moving... great!

I can also let you crash at my efficiency (There is a bedroom, but no door on the doorway) if you need a place to stay until you get settled. I can assist with food and will provide decent internet as well, until you get a job locked down and a paycheck. In some cases I can even assist with travel expenses to Austin, but those -will- need to be paid back eventually.

Why would you want to live in Austin? Lots of geeks. Lots of job opportunities. Very laid back atmosphere, low crime rate. Weirdos aren't that weird. I saw a guy in a lion mask and business suit just walking through downtown the other day.

There are a few caveats:

1. Gender doesn't matter, but I have no interest in sleeping with you. No sex for room trade. Please respect my life choices.

2. Hygiene is important. Showering every day. Washing clothes. Brushing teeth. Not only does it keep you clean but having daily rituals helps you build a system and hold down a job better.

3. Personal space is important. Sheets can be hung. Whatever it takes. Also I don't like people touching my computer. The PS4 is fine, but the PC is sacred.

4. No thieves. If you steal from me, well. You'll probably get away with it. But you'll only hurt someone else who could have really benefited from the opportunity I am offering.

5. No severe mental issues. If you have severe mental issues (aside from the standard social anxiety/social issues many of us MU*ers have. I am not ashamed to say I have them myself!) you won't be able to hold down a job in an unfamiliar city and you'll only be hurting yourself by doing this.

6. Money. I don't expect to be 'paid back in full' for any help I offer but kicking a little back to me would be really, really helpful. I'm not rich by any means, but with budgeting and careful spending I can make this work.

So, why am I making this offer? Well I want to help out the community, obviously, but it's selfish too. If I can find a geek roommate I would love to move into a two bedroom apartment soon. So if we click I get a friend and better apartment out of the deal!

If you're interested? Well, drop me a private message on here. I'll consider anyone who meets the aforementioned specifications but we'll need to talk quite a bit before I do this. I'm not going to jump into it and damage someone's life by taking in someone who wouldn't do well here (or who might screw up mine!), but there's no harm at all in talking about it! None at all, so don't be shy. If nobody is interested? No big deal! I'm doing fine here.

@Bobotron I drive a Kia Forte, 200 bucks a month, 75 a month for my car insurance.

I get about 28 mpg city and 39-40 highway.

It's been pretty reliable thus far.

@Catsmeow They don't pay to relocate, but they are hiring. And the pay is only $13 an hour. But I get to wear a suit and tie to work and have other cool perks so it's alright. But I can afford my own efficiency, and if I had a roommate a two-bedroom with a roomie (split bills) at this complex would actually be cheaper than what I'm in now.

I'm absolutely willing to pay the 300 fee required to transfer my lease to a bigger apartment if I find a roommate and am actively looking for one. I mean. Honestly. If you actually want to move to Austin I'd be glad to try to help you out. If nothing else you could sleep in my efficiency until you found a place of your own if it got weird.

Good luck with that. It sounds like a solid car. I know it's hard as hell to find good cars in some areas used. Where I was living before it was insane how bad the cars were and how much they cost.

I had the same problem with finding work. You might just have to relocate. I got offered a job here immediately and have had a few others even. Plus my company is always hiring. It's just security but hey, tons of breaks almost no physical work at all and you don't deal with people at most sites. Check major cities and stuff, but make sure they will pay a damn living wage. None of that 10 dollar an hour crap.

I didn't care for suicide squad really. I liked it in theory and I think a sequel might be fantastic. Just there wasn't enough development for me and killer croc looked 5 and a half feet tall instead of massive.

So, I have no friends. Well, let me rephrase. I have no friends where I live now, which is Austin. I was thinking if there is any interest we could do a meetup of mu people or something. Or someone could suggest local stuff to get involved in. I'm already going to hit up one of the local Wednesday board game nights when I get the chance. Also I have free downtown parking so I might roam that area some night too. Thoughts? Ideas? Interest?

Yeah. It's not a big deal I know but personally I'm not a fan of Hollywood doing that. It reminds me of blackface and Charlie Chan. Hey, capitalism! We are all free to watch or not watch.

I'd watch Kubo but I'm still boycotting it unfortunately. Sometimes you just have to miss out on things I guess.
