    • RE: CyberSphere - Dead or Alive?

I've played on CS off and on for 15 years. It's a game with a lot of nostalgia value for me.

I agree it needs to be more newbie friendly, however, there is the caveat that you can make 'basic characters' that require no cgen approval and run around the grid doing crazy stuff. And if you decide you like your basic character, you can write up a background/public file for them and get your stats boosted to regular-character levels later on.

So that's a sort of newbie friendly, as long as you accept that death isn't a bad thing. The old 'Find out ICly' mantra of old is gone too. There's also a newbie help channel and OOC channel.

But on the whole, new players are thrown in the mix without a lot of support.

RE: Sindome - Screw Sindome. Johnny is a douche who stole all his code from other people. He even stole his @doing messages from other players, he's that douchy.

Why not just use the old CP2020 system? Wasteland did fine with it.

Cybersphere didn't require you to type out every round of combat. You only had to type anything aside from 'at name' if you were switching modes (aggressive, defensive, etcetera) or targeting a bodypart.

I think the game still exists mostly emptily now though.

The new update is the main reason I've mostly stopped posting on here. I've tried every skin and they all cause me severe eye strain.

So if that's a desired result, I guess it's a good update? Or whatever.

I played 3-4 years ago and cheating wasn't rampant. There were a few cheaters and a few people who accused everyone of cheating, but that was it.

It's not filled with cheaters. Or it wasn't when I last played it. There were a small number of people abusing triggers (and a couple people abusing alts) but for the most part that wasn't a big thing.

CS's BBS system was pretty fantastic. It even had fancy things like disallowing you to read BBS during combat or use the mail system to prevent people mailing their clone details of their death, along with the ability to remove someone's complant entirely to prevent usage of the BBS system.

It even doubled as an IC version of the 'WHO' list.

      Cyberpunk != Sci-fi.

Cyberpunk is alternate universe, where technology evolved differently than in our own.

Negative. The good Peruvian players play on the South America server. I've tested it.

    • RE: DOTA 2

I have about 2800 hours of dota 2 on my accounts and have spent a huge amount of money on stupid, pointless cosmetic items.

And since I play mostly in the morning hours I wind up queued with four-stacks of Peruvians which pretty much ruins the fun of the game.

Why can't they play on the South America server? Why? It's right there! So close to them!

Staffing -is- a job. Just because you volunteer to do it doesn't give it any fewer responsibilities. If you volunteer at a soup kitchen you can't just hang out and not do anything. You're given a job whether it's ladling soup or doing dishes or something else.

I dislike the notion that people seem to have regarding staff that says 'Staff are volunteers, therefore you can't really criticize them for lack of activity or work ethic'. If you can't do the job, don't volunteer to do it.

I dislike mayo except when I use it specifically on chicken sandwiches (in small amounts, very small amounts) or as a cheese thickener on other sandwiches.

My real beef is with bacon. I am so, so, so sick of people putting it on everything. I only eat bacon as part of a breakfast with eggs and hash browns and even then I'd prefer a nice breakfast sausage.

I've given two video games to people, both male. One I know decently well, and have some distant fiscal/emotional connection to, the other a male who "should" be a thorn in my side. Maybe some folks like to give stuff away.

Or maybe we're all programmed to give a little extra to women and children.

I give stuff away to my friends all the time on Steam, male or female. I guess it's different because online gender isn't really an issue. But I really enjoy giving stuff. It gives me charitygasms to see other people happy.

I'm sure there's plenty of guys out there who give gifts to girls wanting to impress them, and I'm sure there's just as many girls using their tits to get free stuff. It's how the world works.

I think this game has potential to be good, even though it's not something I would personally enjoy.

Though it does have me kind of wanting to open a game that has full OOC masq in effect. Because I always loved the mystery of not knowing what to expect from people I meet.

Well yes they are more elaborately coded but they also tend to contain more RP than MUDs. That is the transition I was referring to.
