Hey @Royal? I tried to jump on Fallcoast a couple nights ago as a Guest to inquire if you were about with a mutual acquaintance. You weren't, apparently. So this is the only route that I can provide this to you.

I picked up The Witcher: Enhanced Edition or whatever. I definitely understand what people were talking about with the combat, it's clunky and relies heavily on timing. I've not really had any issues with it myself, but I definitely understand where folks could have experienced some.
I also found out why you don't kill town guards, even if it's due to a misunderstanding... I was trying to TALK to the traveling merchant outside your gates, not smoke him in the gourd with a sword! Took down the four guards, only for a Super Mega Faceplosion Doombringer DeathGuard to track me down later, looking to collect a bounty. That was a fun, interesting, two-hit fight!
I've also been having fun pestering Mrs. Faceless by carrying on conversations with her in Geralt Voice, while staring at her. Because I don't think that I've noticed my character blinking at all. Does he blink at all in later installments of the series?
I also think I may be playing this game wrong. I've not sexed anything up yet; male, female, beast, or extra-dimensional entity.
Overall it's a pretty fun and interesting world so far though.

I caught a full cup of milk to the grill today, when my aspiring MLBer of a 2 y/o chucked it full-speed at my face. Then he locked himself in his room and I discovered that we don't have a key for that particular lock. Thankfully it's a junk interior door lock so I was able to get that open with ease, without the need to boot it.
Meanwhile, at 14:00, my wife was having mixed drinks on the job. Then toward the end of her day went down and sampled different wines. While being paid. Why? No reason. The CEO just wanted to do it. Oh and they have beer on tap in the lobby, of which she informs me she loves the pumpkin spice beer. Vending machines? Nah. Snacks just sort of out in the open and free. Like they're feeding a bunch of damn pigeons in the park.
Upside? I didn't have to put on pants today. While I think that maybe I should renegotiate my benefits package, I may come out ahead purely for that reason.
Edit: No, there was a reason for the wine. "It's First Friday! Every first Friday of the month we have a party!", "Why?", "Because it's First Friday!", "......"
Edit2: No, this does not actually make me angry. I'm actually quite happy that she loves her company and they do things that make her love her job. It just didn't seem something to put in RL Things I Love, since there was some grumbling on my part.
The Witcher series is on sale on Steam. Witcher 3's GotY Edition is also on sale, so make sure to grab that one rather than the stock version. Whole series for right around $25 as opposed to the usual $70($80 with GotY).
Sale lasts until 11 February, iirc.
It began as invite only. As time and I imagine enthusiasm has gone on, they're likely in search of new/fresh blood. Sure, it feels like you're being picked as a runner-up in the dating pool only after they were shot down by the person they have the hots for, but just deal with it. Play there or don't, a simple choice.

Do I think the game can work? Sure. In fact, my biggest issue is with the one planet aspect. The FC presence is a thing, one which I've saw fail time and time again in the past. In nearly two decades of various Star Wars games, I can say I've not saw it work out with 100% success. Moderate? Sure. Full? No. In fact, a recent conversation about another Star Wars game had mention of how some staffer's special snowflake character got hitched to Jabba the Hutt(the FC) so she could become "Empress" of a terraformed Tatooine. So, yeah.
No, my biggest qualm is with the whole rebel cell on Corellia thing. There's a reason that the Rebel Alliance kept largely on the backwater planets; safety. Yavin, Hoth, Dantooine(in mention), Sullust(used as a rally point), and all the EU mentions. The Rebellion runs, that's what they do. On a planet like Corellia, I imagine they'd be discovered within a few days. Star Wars Rebels provides evidence that a planet-based insurgency on a world with a moderate to heavy Imperial presence would quickly be put on it's heels and would have to flee; and that's on a relatively minor planet, by all appearances. The Rebellion runs, it's their thing. That too, of course, can be overcome. It only requires a level of disbelief suspension that I can't thoroughly wrap my head around. So that means the game is not for me, which does not mean it's not for others, and that's okay.
After seeing it mentioned here a few times and a couple other MUers strongly advising me to read them for about 8-10 months now, I finally ordered The First Law trilogy last night. Gotta get dat hardback on, yo. So in a couple weeks I'll start that.
Does anyone have any recommendations for non-fantasy series? I don't mind fiction at all, I just don't tend to get too deep into one genre or another. So if I'm reading a lot of fantasy(which I have been) I like to offset that with some solid futuristic sci-fi or something just not magic and swords and armor and dwarves. My hope is to buy a dozen or so books this Christmas for myself, to round out my bookshelves a little more. So I'm building a list.
I will also will go on to make the claim that Tactics has the best immersive, instrumental soundtrack of any FF game.
@tangent to be clear my comments earlier in this thread were not directed at you specifically. My tongue-in-cheek commentary was intended more for the historical acts you find of Big FC Names on a Star Wars MU? Yes. Not you specifically in this case. The easy access FC TS character aside the other frequent activity of most played FCs that was mentioned by another party previously: they ultimately end up idling in a room and ignoring the game-at-large.
In fact, I hope you do the role justice and absolutely rock it. Along with any other played FCs. Fun is fun, even if it's not my type of fun. While I don't intend on playing at Insurgency, I do hope you at least have a killer time and prove yourself the exception to the unwritten rule. Good luck!
