      So, RP Prefs.

This debate is confusing me. Rp Prefs have been used on a few text games that I've played on, (Some which would help you find players who enjoyed what you enjoyed by matching percentages or something).

In discussions about what I'd want if I ever wanted to work on another game, I've been all about using a system like this, where players could rate how much they enjoyed various types of rp (political conflict, PvE mega-battles, etc,) on a scale of 1 to something, and maybe also let players add an ooc blurb on the bottom about specific things they want other players to do (Such as, I don't feel comfortable doing TS, I want to rp romantic relationships but fade to black on those details, or 'I really am freaked out by kidnapping plots and do not ever want to be exposed to them' or etc.

I thought about it when I read the article and I'd have to get paid more than a bit to decide that going to a sweat-box full of strangers and unfamiliar politics is worth it. Get me a new bike and I'll tear it up.

I just prefer the convenience of working out in my own home whenever the chance appears. Though we are considering membership to our local YMCA, that is mostly so my kid can have swim lessons.

You are correct, I was merging 'bar' and 'club' in my head, and they are not the same. Also high heels are never -required- but when one is young and trying to look as cute as possible all the time they are often deployed. I only have one pair of heels now, and have not worn them in several years.

Just throwing in here that I don't mind bar rp at all! It's fine and sometimes fun and I participate in it willingly. I was just musing on what made it the default and adding silly commentary for fun.

I actually wonder why bar rp is such a thing. Are the undead super focused on the final four based on nostalgia for their one time alma mater?

Especially because strangers talking to you at a bar can be really creepy, it doesn't seem like the best setting for meeting new people, or old people.

Is it because people like rping in a new situation with a pretend drink in their hand, just like in real life having one to hold gives you something to do and thus lubricates the awkwardness of being around all those strangers?

Bars are only cool for a short window of life, then they are the worst.

You must live in an area without a bar/pub culture. I sit at the actual bar of local microbreweries at least once a week and just strike up conversations with people. I have had some of my most interesting interactions in this way. Prohibition and the temperance movement really did a number on what is a very natural way to socialize - grab some good beer and talk to strangers for no reason but to just relax and have fun.

Dude I live in Washington DC. There is a bar culture, there are even several varieties of bar cultures. In my 20's I sampled many of them. But now I am old, I don't like to wear high heels unless I know I'll be sitting, and if I want to drink I prefer to do so over dinner at a restaurant or in the comfort of my own home.

Now I'm curious if anybody else had a cat that randomly licks plastic bags. Our wee insane Siamese did that, and we would just hear the quiet, raspy rattle of plastic for twenty minute stretches or so, and for some reason it was oddly creepy. We'd try to call her over to make it stop, but then she'd just look at us with Innocent Face<tm>, and then go right back to licking the plastic bag.

That cat's Innocent Face<tm> was simply never to be believed.

My cat is terrified of plastic bags so its kind of the opposite of that. Nothing has her bolting out of the room faster than me shaking out a fresh trash bag.

She is obsessed with socks and hides stashes of them around the house and then later brings them to us as gifts.

We had a sock cat once. We'd find oddly stacked socks like weird art in the hallway.

She always seemed to know when I had a date coming over, though, because unfailingly, that's when she'd drag a bra right out into the middle of the living room floor, in easy view of the door. She never did it any other time, either. Damn fuzzbutt must have been psychic.

I don't know if that makes her worst cat, for embarrassing me in a spectacularly entertaining fashion, or best cat, because maybe she was trying to make sure I got laid regularly. It's been over twenty years now since then, and it remains a mystery.

It is hilarious. I had to buy my daughter three packages of socks because wherever her stash is now it is more innovative than previous stashes and I have yet to find it.

It's also so cute when I'm in bed with a migraine and miserable to medicate and fall into groggy sleep only to wake up a few hours later with 12 assorted socks next to me on the bed. 12! Real number!

      PS

If she comes near me and I don't pet her because I am busy she has been known to walk over the keyboard in order to get between me and the screen so I properly focus my attention. Or to bat my Nook away with her paws so I stop reading and acknowledge her.

Do we need a 'cat lady' thread?

Okay I do not have as many cute cat pictures stored up for situations such as these and she is currently sitting under my husband's desk on his feet and not feeling like modeling. Probably being a diva and insisting we don't have the Perrier she ordered and she won't agree to pose and might call her manager.

I like your cat. But I will get a picture of her sock stash the next time I find it and competition is ON.

One real life thing I love, more than many many other things, is summer.

Not working for 2 months is amazing, and I get to do it every year. I think every profession should be 'on 10 months, off 2' Productivity will plummet and we'll all be struggling financially but relaxing on the porch with my coffee every morning is BLISS.

I wish it wasn't already August. They go by SO fast.

I don't think producitivity would plummet; it's just a matter of organization. Same with amount of hours per day worked.

Capitalism convinces us we need to do things with the intensity and enormity we do now, but it's a lie.

      @Coin for President!

But for true, I'm going to part time next year. One hour over half time. In part for my health and the migraines, but also heavily for my work/life balance. I want to get home from work and have the mental and physical energy to be a parent, to exercise properly, to keep the house in good shape, and to nap and read novels. It's going to be AMAZING except for my paycheck in comparison. Still, AMAZING.

      Answer ya damn gtalk.

      I love my cat.

Like she is the best cat.

The coolest most awesome cat to ever fucking cat.

I mean sometimes she's a butthead, but I love her. So does everyone else that knows her. I mean seriously, how many cats receive gifts from other people? (My friend gave her one of those cat water fountains a few months ago. ...I'd say she refuses to drink from anything else, but she learned how to turn on the kitchen sink last week.)

Do we have the same cat because MY cat is the best cat. She is obsessed with socks and hides stashes of them around the house and then later brings them to us as gifts.

What migraine meds did they change you to? Preventative or acute or both?

I somehow forgot this thread was a thing so forgive me for asking a question related to something you said a month ago

I am on the generic of Trokendi for a preventative. And then when it stopped working completely, we added maxalt for when migraines do hit. Which is sort of so-so.

Topirimate? I was on that for a couple of years. It worked great at first and then didn't so much. That's been the case with every migraine preventative I've ever tried though. Like my body adapts to the foreign substance and then pushes me back to my 'natural state' of brain pain.

I've never tried Maxalt but I've tried several other triptans. My go-to currently is Zomig. The nasal spray is pretty epic, it works crazy fast. If only I could use it every day...

@Gingerlily Pizza is the best food in the world. Delicious, easy to make, easier to eat - you don't even have to look at it while you're munching, let alone use plates or utensils. It can literally come to your door and once you're done, go out in that same box as well. I love it.

I eat pizza twice a year.

      I mean, life's not fair. 😞

But is a life without cookies, or Breyer's Black Raspberry Ice Cream, truly worth living?

(I'm jesting and not, I've been working on cutting out sugar all summer and have added wheat too and it's just -torture-. But I have failed utterly and done the thing where I behave all day and then 'crack' at 8pm or so, going downstairs and scrounging for whatever contains the most sugar in our kitchen. It's /hard/)
