@Derp You have to click it, not hover over it.

RE: Upvote vs Downvote Question
It doesn't notify on downvotes, only upvotes. I don't know why. You can see who has downvoted a post, however. If you click on the number between the up and down arrows, it'll list out all who have voted.

RE: New forum version
Okay, so a new minor version has gone up and I've set up an instance of it you guys can poke at before I transition to it for the main site. You can log in normally, but it's a db clone, so posting there won't post here and vice versa. You can check it out here.
Unless there are major concerns raised, we'll be shifting over to the new version in a week or so.

RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
Without some pre-existing, and noted, understanding about player leave, it sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not much of a fan of freezing, despite how much I myself have abused it. Besides, killing off new "NPCs" for plot purposes sounds like a good way to use an otherwise wasted resource.

RE: Lifehacks and Helpful Hints
Don't know how many people this might work for, but if you live in the north and are willing to make a drive, international flights out of Canada are a lot cheaper than out of America. Particularly now, with the strong dollar.
I recently went to Japan and ended up saving about $550 per ticket with an additional $200 or so from currency luck.

RE: The Flame of Darkness (Marvel Universe RP Game)
@RoguePotato I think what @Misadventure was after was a description of how powers are dealt with, though it escalated rather quickly and absurdly. I believe several people have answered by suggesting it may be trait-based, as in, a textual description of what is capable with the power noted on the character for reference. Is this the case? I think this is mostly just a misunderstanding.
As a side note, PvP can most certainly be RP and even integral to it. So let's just keep this topic informative regarding the game and a discussion on PvP and RP can be spun up in another category.

I don't think it's unfair, provided everyone had more or less the same chance/opportunity without counting in their own actions or limitations.
If I give everyone the same chance "I am running plots Wednesdays and Sundays" and those plots lead to things such as the ones mentioned above, it's not my fault if you can't make those days because of your life/job/preferences/kids/whatever. It's not. No matter how much people want me to bend, I also have a life, and the days I am willing and able to run things are those days.
It isn't your fault, but as a game admin, it is certainly your responsibility. You'd have a lot more leeway to assert the above as just another player, but you're not.
ETA: That isn't to say you must change the days you offer plot, but addressing the problem, rather than brushing it off as something you're not willing to "bend" on, is definitely something I think is your responsibility.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
@Jaded Before I even thought, "too bad", I thought, "I wonder if that means region-locking might disappear". Priorities.

RE: Comics Stuff
New Superman v Batman trailer and Wonder Woman makes an appearance.

RE: Artists and Artsy People
I like SAI as a possible contender for manga creation. It's not free, about 50-60 bucks, but it's got a 30 day trial and I found it really pleasant to use and more focused than photoshop.

RE: Myrddin's +bbnew on MUX
Is the intention of +bbnew to spam out all unread bbposts?

RE: Whispers in the Dark - A Buffy MUX looking for help
I think you probably know what you're about, but I'd just like to suggest that digitalocean.com has a pretty quick and painless setup for a small wiki virtual server for 5 bucks a month. It features in a large part of a tutorial I did here.

RE: Good TV
@Roz I thought the premise and the characters themselves were pretty good, but I guess I wasn't as impressed by the story/conflict/whatever? I watched it all, don't get me wrong, but I was perhaps too hyped for it.
Also: Too. Much. Birthing.

@HelloRaptor said:
it rarely comes up how much money those fat cat CEOs bring into the company.
I associate company performance with financial performance. That statement reads to me like CEOs are responsible for bringing money in to the company and, therefore, positively impacting the bottom line of a company. I'm saying they do not generally bring anymore to the table than anyone else and that, according to that study, they may in fact act as a detriment in some important cases. I do not deny the scope of their position, but I do contend that they are not necessarily money-makers for the company.

RE: RL Anger
@HelloRaptor I can't really give specifics other than what I look up right this second, but from what news I pay attention to, CEO pay has never correlated to company performance. Top link I found was a Forbes article from last year that suggests that CEO pay is even negatively correlated to company performance.

RE: What Do You Love About WoD?
@Coin It's not that @Arkandel is saying everyone everywhere doesn't use it, but that it is the case for a majority. I don't know if he's right or not, but there's always going to be some small group that enjoys some slice of something that most don't like. When the game then changes because a majority finds it less than compelling, they become "filthy casuals".
From the discussion so far, I think you're probably in the minority. It doesn't make you wrong for enjoying the game like you do, but it also doesn't make you representative.
