Look, obviously I'm going to be a Xena clone with a badass chakram and an awesome singing voice and a metal bustier over my little leather mini romper skirt dress. I'll know all the cool people like Caesar and Cleopatra and Abraham and Ulysses, and will bang both the God of War and my adorable blonde sidekick.

      I can do that, right?

      You cannot do that, no.

The God of War is [redacted]. As are all the other Gods.

You can totally bang someone pretending to be the God of War, though.

Changelings were kept out of New Orleans due to some kind of big magic contract that was enacted 100 years ago. Somehow it failed and they've started to trickle in. Possible threads: What happened 100 years ago? What caused it to fail? Was it good, or bad?

The Shadow Accords explain this well. Especially if it was originally a True Fae bargain. TIE-INS GALORE

My original thought was that a Title was a signatory of the Accords, but SOMETHING or SOMEONE killed it last summer, and nobody knows what.

It was some evil Mummy thing, what do it.

@Livia Mystery Cults! But they sound suspiciously non-bee.

      Not everything is about bees!

Correct. Those things are Sneks and/or Mummies!

... what if it Claims somebody? How much work are you willing to do to save the human that spirit has merged with? What are you willing to sacrifice to get the spirit to willingly unmerge, since that's basically the only way to unClaim someone? When that spirit unmerges and the person beneath is still a murderer, are you a "good guy" for killing him even though he wasn't your prey and you may have let your prey go back to the Shadow unharmed to save him? Lots of room for complex.

The Urged/Ridden/Claimed situation is weird. In 1e, once you passed a certain point, the spirit cannot unclaim a thing without killing it. Even if you can get a spirit to move out willingly. This is why killing people wasn't a breaking point for harmony.

No idea if that's still the case with 2e or not, because I'm lazy.

@Rinel Werewolves are spirit cops. They make sure the spirits stay on one side of the gauntley, and humans stay on the other side.

This is GOOD when a murder or rage spirit crosses over and makes humans go on a MurderDeathKill-spree.

This is SHITTY when a healing spirit crosses over and helps keep the death toll at the local hospital down.

I like the idea of becoming a not-total-monster being an almost impossible task, but the heavy emphasis here is on "almost."
ANYWAY the setting is what it is, so I'm gonna quit bitchin' and start learning about warwilfs.

      YAY WHEREWOOFS

I mean I don't play but...ughhh I love wherewoofs. I really ought to make one.

Everyone should make werewolves. ESPECIALLY @Rinel and @Ganymede. And they should come to court with my Elodoth. Not like... vampire court. Lawyer-court. And they can watch me just reenact scenes from The Grinder, and Phoenix Wright, and other nonsense lawyer-fu that definitely should not work, but does, because DICE, BITCHES.

Edit to make @names happen and shit.

See, I like this. What I don't like, and I guess it's just the reason Vampire isn't the sphere for me, is how even at level 10 humanity you're an awful creature. Is there really no room for Kindred who go off and suck cow blood?

There is! Crones have a specific title for people who have not murdered anyone, even. It's all in how you do you, as usual.

I just. REALLY wish they had done Vampire as that Harmony/Clarity sliding scale. Ditto Mage. And I HOPE Mummy has it, too.

Uh. Are there any ones who aren't, you know... awful?

Ordo aren't inherently awful. They are the most likely to do SCIENCE and whatnot. Their coils used to be about lessening the curse by varying degrees, I'm not 100% sure if that is still the case.

@Jennkryst Allow me to clarify my point:

That literally goes against the core of how Mage works.

Mage works the way staff says it works. Thus the HR. That section on the golden rule of 'use what you want, ignore what you don't' that all RPGs have.

@toreadorfool said in CoD Ancient Rome game...:

Mummy: With reworking time-wimey stuff and some other things, this could be interesting given the time period and connection to Egypt. Another 'when it comes out, discuss further' thing, like Geist.

This is the best thing ever, and I know it's only on here because I shouted loudly, constantly, but still. THUMBS UP!
