@ganymede Yeah I really can't handle Japanese RPGs. They were ok when I was 19, but now the only thing I get from them is moments of LOL WTF. Yes, I do.

As you point out, there is a difference between a beat and a break. A beat is a short pause; a break is much longer one. It is a rare thing to use because simply writing 'break' indicates no movement or action other than the break itself. Still, a break ought not last longer than two seconds.

And, yes, the intent is to interrupt the flow of conversation.

It makes me not want to keep reading, though. It makes me want to run down the court and wait for the pass.

@thenomain Like as a setting, it appeals. But as a game, it surely doesn't. You'd have players injecting 20s and 30s biases and sterotypes and sexism and racism and other stupidity because HISTORY even if it made no sense and all the people had been replaced by much more egalitarian people.

I predict it would be annoying af.

100% modern. Seeing/playing them struggling to unlock things home computers and smart phones to try and understand how the world works would be amazing.

i mean, players wouldn't do it on their own. But it would be cool.

I have good health insurance. I use the Duke medical network, which is supposedly one of the best.

AND YET I still have what feels like a lot of runaround, disbelief, and bad experiences. Like, what the fuck are we even up in arms about preserving, here? Even with money and good insurance in this country, your healthcare is a total crapshoot.

Riot games sucks and it's really disappointing to me, because I put a lot of hours and a lot of money into their game. If things I love could stop letting me down that would be great.

@thenomain True, in some cases! Though there are probably lots of workaday-type jobs in writing, too. Copy writing, freelance journalism...buzzfeed articles.
