If it's too offensive for Trump to say, then I'm likely going to ban it on obnoxiousness grounds.
Troll will always out itself.
Yeah, that kind of cements it.

'moon gifts' sounds like archaic code for menstruation
I have .5 - 5% interest in things like demons and mummies and mages, and 0% interest in vampires, werewolves, and changelings. I don't follow these gamelines, I don't know anything about ooc power comparisons or options, but just speaking from a "what is a cool setting" standpoint...I'm over even hearing vamps and werewolves and changelings discussed. Do something new and different, if you are going to do anything.

@auspice dick is a gendered insult, but I have yet to see anyone politely ask others not to call them a dick because it's gendered and that's not cool and be laughed at. Wee little straw man, there.
@arkandel I'm not going to watch the show, they want like $8 a month for their streaming service.
Is this thread for bad tv, too? Because I have watched that Teen Titans trailer and oh my god what the what. When even turning off all the lights on set can't hide how bad your wigs are...

I wonder, if somebody you're taught to hate, viscerally hate, espouses some ideas, would you be more or less opposed to them?
do you actually wonder this
@tinuviel Yeah, I agree.
I was telling apos last night that I, like many American people of my generation, used to use the word 'gay' to indicate something was lame, or whack. If you'd asked me if I had a problem with homosexuals, I would have been appalled. I didn't. I never, ever have, I think they should have all the rights and consideration anyone else does. I didn't think homosexuality was lame, or bad, or gross. I just used gay, with different context.
Then I grew up a little. I realized that intention is not the same thing as effect, and that even though I wasn't intending it as a condemnation of any person, they could certainly take it that way. And, since 'calling things gay instead of a dozen other words' is not an INTRINSIC FUCKING PART of my identity, I made the effort to stop.
It's really hard to admit when you've been an asshole, but doing so makes both you (the general you) and the world slightly better.
ETA: TLDR it's best to only cry 'my freedom of expression is being impugned upon" when what you are being asked/told to stop is an integral part of your identity, or is important to you.
@deadculture ok that's like a nosedive down a slippery slope there, cowboy. Maybe pump the brakes.
@friendlybee i don't think it has anything at all to do with being 'conservative'. Most conservatives I know don't resort to namecalling for the sake of being edgy. Calling someone a cunt is just someone being an asshole. It's not a political thing at all until people start dropping "SJW" to dismiss those who object.
@ganymede Now, how to convince people who think they are just giving their (as valid as anyone else's) input on something that they are maliciously dogpiling?

Arx is inspired by Brandon Sanderon's "First Law," supposedly, so that might help understand some of the elements.
I'm so sorry to be that guy, but the First Law is by Joe Abercrombie. Brandon Sanderson has written a lot of other stuff, some of which I enjoy a lot - none of which Apos has read.
@arkandel Wait, so this is meant to be a discussion about dogpiling, now?
I mean, it's a message forum, where things are written out, and not in real time. How are you going to stop 'dogpiling' in a way that isn't 'only X number of people may give their opinion on any topic/post"?
@deadculture hence my confusion at this topic being a thing.
It seems almost designed - or destined, whatever - to be nothing but argument about labels and who is the most OPPRESSED.
Self-regulation is never going to work if 'we don't do that here' is not true. If we do that here, then what can anyone say to anyone else? I'm not even saying I feel the kind of speech being discussed needs to be moderated, but that sort of passive community influence only works if the community is mostly homogeneous in their view of a behavior, or if that behavior is mandated or outlawed by some kind of policy.

Truthful non snark: @surreality, I'm not reading your posts, so responding to me is going to be a one sided conversation. Just so you know I don't see it if you are asking me questions or something.
