My personal turning point is about the burden of entertainment. If I have a few scenes with a player and it's on me to set the scene AND keep it going AND shoehorn some direction into it each time, I will lose all interest. When "Let's RP" starts to sound like "entertain me the way I like", I dial out.

Fairness is about consistency. No one is perfect, and no one can perfectly be consistent, but meeting complaints about consistency with dismissive glibness isn't the way to enable understanding.

THIS THREAD is turning into a hogpit style "no u" "no I said this read better" "no u".

If this place got rid of the hog pit and didn't allow the drama and slapfighting that goes on there, this place's traffic would slow down a lot, and it would eventually be mostly the same half dozen people posting gifs and RL gripes and occasionally an ad thread would blow through, like a tumbleweed.

It's not the worst thing in the world. But it seems like it would be a lot of work to maintain a board that could easily be a discord chat.

The Ritual was surprisingly good. Much better than I was expecting.
