@2mspris LOL One of my characters was on that CrackMUX list.
I also played on med and shadowed for a while too.

It's not that I am impatient, it's just right now I am out of the loop, and every day that goes on without even so much as checking a job for /one note/ that needed to be set, and which was set... I just feel like by the time I am approved, when people who app'd /after/ me are getting approved, there will be no niche for me to place myself into. No way to get involved because the clique's will have already formed and I'll end up being the lone werewolf... and werewolf is /really/ not meant to be played solitary imho.
So every day I end up finding myself having even less and less interest in the game because... what's the point? I'm even going to miss out on the big werewolf plot arc due to this.
So yeah. It's not impatience, it's inertia and apathy building at this point.
I just want to get approved. There's been enough good about the game to make me want to play and greater than 72 hour turnaround on a fucking /note/ is getting to be bullshit. The note was set within a couple hours. This is stupid. I'm watching people who applied after me get approved before me, in my sphere.
@Coin I've played WoD and Firan. I've seen all kinds since 1992. It's not like it's a fight, you two feel differently than I do. Nothing you can say about the quality of your RP or others is going to change my opinion until I run into someone that changes that opinion. I have yet to do so.
@Coin @Arkandel : Call it anecdotal if you want, but I am going to trust my experience over two individuals who are tooting their own horn.
Quality of anything in this medium is subjective.
@Arkandel It's not a generalization, it's my experience. It's what I've seen. I'm not saying that there might not be some good RP'er who use one line or no line descs, just that it's what /I/ have experienced and what I've come to expect because of it.
Just because you may have had other experiences, doesn't invalidate my own.
@mietze said in Shadows Over Reno:
I will confess that the last year I MUSH I almost never looked at anyone ever. If I got spammed with it in every scene I didn't need to, plus RfK's awful room spamming code every time someone looked at someone else cured me of the habit.
And the other place I played on most often had standard clothing descs and screenscrolling personal bits full of flowing hair in the breeze and jovial orbs were discouraged.
So if someone had a crappy desc, it did not affect my desire/willingness to play with them, if they posed well.
I've yet to see a one line desc person pose well consistently. Usually it's a constant 1-2 line pose as well so that's what I've come to expect of 1 line descriptions.
For me, I don't really know anyone yet I am still getting my feet wet and trying to figure out Werewolf politics, packs, etc so I've not looked at the event code at all. I'm also at a new job so most time I get home and don't have a lot of time since I have to be up at an ungodly hour until training is over which isn't for another three weeks and I go on my 2nd shift production schedule (Which will have it's own problems, working 3:30 PM till Midnight EST 5 days a week eats up a lot of prime RP time).
So far I am for the most part enjoying the game. I've only run into a couple people who are snarky just to be snarky assmunches.
I dislike how many people use wiki's to replace writing though. One line and no line descriptions are horrible to me but that's another thread.
I don't have that much of a problem with SGP, I rip some of it out, but much of it works fine even today and I don't see the need to do so. Admittedly I don't have the time, or the skill, to be a psychocoder like Theno, Ashen, or Faraday and the rest but for a hobby coder like myself, I like SGP even if it isn't the sweetest thing ever.
I do code my own stuff for what's missing from SGP as I find it necessary but a lot of it just works and that's fine.
I wouldn't mind seeing something like it for Rhost though, and would welcome it too since it might give me enough code to look at that I might be able to teach myself the differences. I basically am self taught learning through osmosis and help files on what the functions do.
I am sure my code is crap by some accounts but as long as it works, isn't easily broken, and doesn't crash the game then that's all that really matters right?
My biggest problem with oWoD werewolf was the players, not the theme. W:tA had some awesome theme elements that are all to often ruined by people who want to be special snowflakes and don't want to be the 'typical' this or that tribe, which dillutes the flavor and the theme of the game turning it into drama llama ts circles...
I believe it was listed as one of the variants, the ac20 version. Either way...
I am looking forwards to the BattleTech game Harebrained is doing much much more than MWO... they dropped the ball so hard on that one.
@ixokai Can't please everyone.
For what it's worth, a Camarilla/Anarch conflict... is about the /only/ thing that'd make me play a Vampire in any version of WoD.
Ever.
I love me some Anarch goodness.
I can't play the remaster of Skyrim yet, not until some key mods get ported over... I can't handle Bethesdaface.
@Tinuviel It looks like it's one of those sex mu*'s where they try to fit in any genre they can somehow.
Lifepath modules can make a stronger character than normally using priority or point buy, when coding chargen however they an be a minor pain in the ass.
I say this because I have coded lifepath chargen before.
The annoying part is the knowledge skills it gives, the best way I found to do it was to just make a general knowledge skill and language skill pool and let the PC spend those as they wished at the end.
That said, it makes for a more well rounded character overall using the lifepath modules which is I think a good thing.
As for non-north american characters, yeah you have to invent some modules for other countries but it's not that bad imho.
I bought the spring pass for 20$, wasn't a bad thing to me. Gave me more stuff to do and it was pretty fun.
But I have been called out on my like for the game in the past so...
I want to get hyped, but, Tragedy will prolly leave it after it's been finished
Been watching Season 2 of Dark Matter, god I love that show.
