I can guarantee you that the number of people willing to RP mundane chain-of-command stuff and RP via +reports, will be very small indeed.

Oh my god, I used to think that too, and as it turns out I was so wrong.

It's true from my perspective but then I tend to favor heavily coded games over pure RP style games.

I want to have to deal with protecting territory, expanding territory, making sure your Locus is safe, facing off against the Pure and everything else, and not really knowing if I can trust the neighboring packs or not without a greater threat to us all in play.

Fair enough. I'll ask, but the project will back-burner.

I just don't think a lot of people want to run a W:tF 2E game right now, partly because some of the interests you've raised haven't been handled well in the past or there's no code to assist in it.

I'll say there is a RPG called Phoenix Dawn Command which is card based. Not a normal deck of cards mind, but it has an aspect of deck building where various classes gets access to various cards, and as you level up you basically do deck building and challenges are made by using cards with various values and modifiers based on class abilities.

      It's quite neat.

Well I had set the line limit using @admin to 1000 a while back, so that wasn't a problem, just Potato, but now that I've got the bulk of SGP in and am just making adjustments and tearing stuff out, it's not so bad. Using wholly original code I usually do the database that is the largest chunks, the actual lines of working code I do almost line by line to test functionality before I move on.

I just started with Linode a few days ago and it's going great. $5/month is nothing (and the first few are paid by a coupon thing), I got root access on a distro of my choice, and the machine is fast and responsive. No complaints.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" ... "Yessir, the check is in the mail.

@Cupcake Nah I just permanently freeze 'em unless the creator comes back, unless they specifically told me they wanna see them rostered. I think most people would feel weird about someone else playing their own creation so unless I hear otherwise that's what I go with.

@Lithium Diku and Circle are both written in C and neither of them use MUX softcode that I know of. If you wanted to make a more traditional MUX, I probably wouldn't say anything, but with your desire for a highly coded game, evennia is very much a better choice if you don't know C.

Not unless it changed when I wasn't looking.

There's my userscript (over in Userscript for Ignoring Users and/or Threads) but since that's clientside the board still pops notifications and therefore still needs to be marked read, so it may not help a lot for this case.

@Ashen-Shugar Thanks for the information. I am guessing that it was something to do with a power fluctuation or something because there wasn't a lot of code on it at the time, and what code I had in place, I have already put in place again with zero issues.

I suppose I could have opened the wrong thing in cpanel while the game was up as well, so it could have been that too.

Interesting stuff, even if it is as you said, a necro and a non-issue currently 🙂

Alright, so the BESM stuff isn't for this topic, please take to chat or messages or whatever.

So far I have one person wanting a loose rule set, and one wanting a very strict rule set, but both wanting Supers! which is funny all things considered.

Hmm... Supers is a bit more low powered than I was wanting so will also take some tweaking as well.

Aberrant on one hand, (with a completely new setting, I have ideas of how the world reacts to the Nova's and the cause of them, no Divis Mal etc), or a beefed up Supers on the other (Talking like, 7 to 8D instead of 4-5D caps).

I'm obviously a big fan of M&M. I especially enjoy M&M 3E. That said the system is not without its flaws. The biggest of which also doubles as its greatest strength, the idea of Power Levels.

In theory 2 characters that are PL 10 should be equal to each other. In practice that's not necessarily the case. First, you have the overall PL of 10 which means you have 150 points to spend. You have to check their offensive PLs (Attack Bonus + Damage = 20) and their defensive PLs (Dodge/Parry + Toughness = 20). So you could potentially have 3 different PLs for combat purposes which are only connected to the overall character PL by a sense of what that character SHOULD have. I ran a TT game where we set the PP at PL 8 (120 PP) but allowed for up to PL 10 combat PLs for an X-Men type level game.

If that's not confusing enough you then have to deal with artificial PL inflating (my concept doesn't really call for me to have a Will save this high but for PL purposes I'm going to dump a bunch of points into it...) and powers/abilities that exist outside the PL framework such as teleportation or flight.

I'm sure this is a problem that exists for all point based character generation systems. I'm sure 2 characters made of the same number of points in GURPS or HERO are not necessarily equal across the board. At least M&M gives you defined measuring systems to know where you stand compared to other people of comparable levels. I just think the system could do a better job of letting you know what those levels are. Treat each section as a dial that can be set. How many points can be spent, Offensive PL, Defensive PL, Skill PL, etc.
