Rando thought of the day. (Okay, okay, one of them) If I had my ADHD properly medicated, would I stop having a constant stream of music in my head??

@rightmeow Yep. This. Because when it's over, your brain seems to go from 'normal' to Blender on high again. It's overwhelming.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@wretched This is true, because our brains are chaos, so when the situation is chaos, it's like we're completely chill because we're used to this.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@rightmeow It is not just you. You did nothing wrong.
"If you think it's you, it's you***"
*** Except in those with anxiety, as this condition may worsen with this treatment.
@GreenFlashlight I can't speak for others, but if I ever tire of you, or am just not in a mood to talk - I'll let you know. No subtext BS.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
There is some of that implied, and some "Well, if we start you later, after an hour of unpaid leave, it'll be better, right? " ...that's not how it works, jerks.
I have a Dr appt next week. For a new ADHD med, and I will get a fucking note for work. They can suuuuuuuck my big spirit dick.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
Annnnnnnnd I just got a tag team call from HR, because my boss' boss decided that I needed to have HR in my face.
I straight up told the 2 people from HR, "Look, I have ADHD. Executive dysfunction happens some mornings. I'm trying, but working from home can make it hard."
So now I have a bunch of links and bullshit.

@ninjakitten My problem is that I tend to read too fast and skip over things, or things just read differently to me. I've had to learn to stop and look over the poses I'm responding to

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@ninjakitten Yep!
The following six clusters of executive functions tend to be impaired in individuals with ADHD:
Activation: organizing tasks and materials, estimating time, getting started
Focus: finding, sustaining, and shifting attention as needed
Effort: regulating alertness, sustaining motivation and processing speed
Emotion: managing frustration and modulating feelings
Memory: using working memory and accessing recall
Action: monitoring and regulating physical activity -
RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
So, my boss and I had a 'talk' on Friday, and his boss joined us.
They complained that I 'get a slow start' (hello executive dysfunction), and in the afternoon I 'burn through work in hours'. Boss thinks I'm 'in a panic' when I get all that work done in a few hours.I told my boss flat out. Mornings are slow with exec. dysfunction, and what he thinks is 'panic' is hyperfocus. Welcome to the world of ADHD, boss.
But you want to give me a Verbal, though I'm getting more than my fair share of work done, because you don't like how I use my time? ... Time to talk to the doctor. ADHD is covered by the ADA, and I'm tired of getting shit for disabilities I have. (I also got talked to about my sugar crashes, and how I need to talk to some dept about 'time' I can take in the morning, etc, to deal with my issues. Now, I've recently had some significant med changes, which effs with my sugars. I've let them know, I've kept them in the loop. But they apparently want to complain.
I love my boss. I know this warning was NOT his idea, he looked SO unhappy and uncomfortable. But I will come full force with all the medical documentation.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@ganymede Our rent for a 2 bedroom is 1035, currently. Which while not awesome in relation, isn't bad, either.
I wanted to STAY in this unit, because the roommates were willing to move out into their own place. But that's when they denied us to stay where I am.
Push come to shove, she or I could afford the rent on our own, short term. But because it's not each of us making over 44k a year, or something ridiculous, they won't allow it.
So maybe they're going to try and hike rents, or something. Someone said maybe they're going to just redo all the buildings and try to go more luxury. But that won't fly, here, if the other places I've seen are anything to go by.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I am trying to find a place and amicably split from my roommates, since they're planning on getting married, etc.
I love the area I live in, I like the apartment layout. A friend of mine who got a job here in my city needs to find a place, but she's hours away, and well, Covid.
My complex, where I've lived coming up on 2 years, won't rent a place to me, because she and I do not make 4 times the rent. I don't mean the two of us together. I mean each of us, separately.
We'd have to make over 80k, combined, to live here. Though my credit is LOADS better than when we got the place originally, and I make more than I did then.
They have empty units that I can SEE from my window. They're not being refurbed or anything, which means no one is moving in anytime soon. So like... WTF?

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@wretched I second this. You guys have made me feel so much... Well, I guess - less freakish? It's really nice knowing people who have some of the same exact issues as I do.

RE: Sensitivity in gaming
There was once a scene I got through, even though it was.. pushing limits. I can't go back and read the log, because it creeps me right out.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@wretched What the hell did I ever do to you?! Why you callin' me out like this, man! We're in public!

RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition
@betternow Aww man. That guy was great. I saw multiple interviews with him, and he seemed delightful. He got knighted by the Queen, and was tickled that people everywhere were donating to his little fundraiser.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition
@tnp Aww. I loved him in SOA. And back in a weird ass 80s horror movie I saw as a kid, and again later in my 20s. The Unholy.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@cassite This. So much of this. You feel the pain, metaphorically. (and possibly literally). Thankfully, I had a couple of days where there was pain but I had enough energy to plow through work to be caught up.. and we're in a very slow spot, for the moment. So I can drag ass.
Otherwise I'd be in big shit.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I'd like a day with low/no pain. Just one, where I could feel like a functioning human being again.
