@zombiegenesis If you could get ahold of the BuffyMUD code from Tyr and make a new rp focused game, I would love you and play everyday. Not interested in a MU version of Buffyverse, would rather play VtR and I hate vampire in WoD.

RE: Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
@arkandel When it comes to MtA1e (The one that was on TR and FC), I have found some of the most fun as a Mage player when I wanted to mess with a plot was to get scenes to help lower my sympathetic connections to the rest of the plot, as a GM those are the sorts of scenes and plots I would throw to my Mage players who will be later down the road using spells in off-time. That way it still feels like they did more than just throw some spells at it and gets some juicy RP logs outta the sitch. Now I can't say that's the normal, but for me as a player thats what I was looking for out of plottage.
I really enjoy with Time/Fate how you can appear to be a mostly passive observer but you actually know the whole deck and you're the one putting cards in people's hands. It feels like your Charlie to the Angels, but more interesting than a speaker box.

RE: Development Thread: Sacred Seed
@maira I cannot count on both my hands and feet the number of players that have been let down by overly ambitious Staffers and designers. The fact that you took the time to twist and cajole and worry about my relationship with the OP is hilarious enough before you try and go out of your way to make this into a hogpit thread. You know, the reason people say no offense and MEAN IT is when they know what they say will sound offensive and sound like being an asshole but in truth they are just trying to say something they feel needs to be said but are npt trying to be intentionally mean. Have a good day, take your toxic shit to the hogpit.
ETA: I was not trying to be mean to Cobalt, what I saw was her saying I am getting overwhelmed in creation and work with this project, which is what she said about the last game she just closed and so I was just trying to be like "Welp, maybe you should look at not doing this for a minute." I think it is more important to look at the reality of a project or projects, what it will accomplish out of doing it or only partially doing it vs. The cost it takes to get there. If the process is becoming overwhelming to the point it is happening on more than one project maybe you need to look at going about it a different way or doing a different type of project. I am in no way trying to shit on Cobalt's parade, I am just trying to be the cold bucket of water after a weekend bender.

I have found myself a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of writing that in general needs to be done, because I don't have enough of a grasp to be sure if I have enough written and laid out in a readable format or how to get to that point.
So progress is going a lot slow, plus @coin and I have both had RL stuff going on.
But if anyone is interested in working with me on theme stuff, I would be grateful for the help. This could be taking stuff I write about and transforming it to staff easily understandable on the wiki, or putting up blank sketches on the wiki / website of what needs to be written so people will be able to understand the world and the play, and point me at the write.
Basically:
Someone help me tame the chaos in my mind.
No offense Cobalt, but I am thinking it might be time for you to kind of hang up your hat on creating games. You didn't have enough time for the last one, so you shut it down, and now you're creating another within a year? Not to mention the half dozen or so staff positions on other games you've phased out of.

@magee101 @Derp Yeah, boooo. Who likes being technically correct and going off what the websites say...
That's the problem with cultures, technically correct and actually correct can be vastly different. If they had called it CofD ten years ago, well we'd all call nWoD CofD, but they took too long, we have our own names for it, and it will probably never be widespread in the hobby that CofD=all nWoD material.

@skew said in Crescent Moon Mux / New Orleans CoD Mux:
@magee101 I don't want to be that guy but I'm super trying to avoid work right now... The entire (new) World of Darkness gameline is under the CofD umbrella. They retroactively changed the name. See here where it says, "After an extensive overhaul of the concepts of the World of Darkness, the Chronicles of Darkness (sometimes โCofDโ) was developed in 2004 with the release of the World of Darkness Rulebook..."
You can also look here and see how CofD Second Edition is mentioned, as a separate thing from CofD First Edition. And as it, too, says, "In December of that year, the "new" World of Darkness saw its name changed to "Chronicles of Darkness" to more fully distinguish it from the "classic" World of Darkness."
Lastly, the Wikipedia that states, "As White Wolf Publishing attempted to keep the original World of Darkness separate, the new World of Darkness was rebranded as the Chronicles of Darkness..."
So, when we refer to "Chronicles of Darkness", it's not nWoD 2E. It's nWoD, by Onyx Path marketing lingo. We'd technically need to refer to CofD 1E vs CofD 2E to differentiate between the 2004 book and the 2015 core rulebook.
And just to be super clear, all the books that are Chronicles of Darkness are here.
It was a move done by a publishing company after the fact to help dismiss confusion that had already been in the community for a decade. as @Derp says, might be technically correct, but for us here in the hobby, CofD is 2nd Edition NWoD and is represented that way on these forums.
ETA: Basically, just because someone has retroactively rebranded something to make things "simplier" does not mean that the vast majority of their customers agree or follow their new branding system ten years after the fact.

@shaggy This sounds absolutely disheartening.
I agree. The idea that game designers are just churning out WoD game #115 in (Insert city here) is very disheartening but it does feel that way, none of these recent WoD games seem to have much going for them astheticly or metawise except for the Descent which now appears to be dead.

"active" is a very loose phrase. I've checked on the place from time to time, it's mostly idle people.
I'm not sure we want to go down a rabbit hole of debating whether games are active. I think if the owners feel it qualifies, we leave it at that, whether it has 6 players or 600.
As @faraday says. You could have a playerbase of 6000000 players, if over 50% of them idled consistently I would probably still call that place active. DoD has like 15-20 connected (which I know from playing there previously that most of those connections are alts of players) of which most are idling for hours if not days. Sure it is open, but not active

I'm fairly sure CofD refers to all New World of Darkness, and it distinguishes nWoD vs oWoD. As in, Vampire: The Requiem vs Vampire: The Masquerade. Not 1e vs 2e.
@BlackDahlia I will surely help, as I offer to help everyone else. But I'll agree with the rabble rabble... Give me a little something to get excited! Well, I mean, besides that you're not doing ANOTHER 1E game... That does get me excited...
If you're on TinyMUX (or Penn/Rhost, presumably), I can help with some code. If you're on MediaWiki, I can help with Wiki.
Uh no. World of Darlness first edition is just world of darkness. They didnt change names of the core game between old and new world, just the names in the splats. Werewolf forsalen instead of apcolypse etc. Chronicles of darkness is the post GMC material veing released by Onyx right now

@gingerlily I have been MU'ing since 1996, and my best experience so far ever was at The Reach back in 2006-2008? I have had a really hard time getting into a game since TR closed in any significant fashion.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
@deadculture But calling them an asshole and a bully just starts up a cycle. I think the best part of freedom of speech os that people can also choose to shut up and/or not be forced into saying things they dont believe in. 9/10 times it is more empowering to just give an asshole a haughty stare and then ignore them like they dont exist
-
RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
Freedom of speech is an awesome thing but it takes responsibility and wisdom to correctly express your opinion and knowing when to keep shit locked up in your own dome. Any ten year old kid can tell you to go fuck your mother, that Hitler was right and to kys (kill yourself). Freedom of speech is not meant as a scapegoat to say what ever shitty horrible bullying cancerous thing you want to say, it is intended to keep people being opressed from being unable to express that without censorship. It is meant to help allow the ability to suss out corruption without fear of reprisals. People use freedom of speech as an excuse to be assholes and bullies
