@meg I just edited it out! But yeah, it made me laugh too. Can you tell I've been doing a fuckton of IC writing shit on my game right now?

RE: criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong
1000 percent agree and wish that Ad forum posts were locked at the first one. The maker of that post can always edit, IIRC, even if it's impossible for others to comment upon, so it can still be updated, ect. (Or maybe game makers will just have to decide if they want to blow their chance on an incomplete/coming game, or maybe just advertise once they're fully prepared for people to log in/go through CG).
There are ample opportunities for people to present criticism either constructive or otherwise in the appropriate forums for the tone/manner of their criticism.

RE: Back in my day....
When I was first allowed to run about unsupervised (like 6 years old I think. 2nd grade-ish), a bunch of the other kids and I loved going out on the base proving grounds because it had a lot of cool obstacles and you could find neat stuff there.
Also in the summer I always loved to ride my horse at my aunt's house into their pond. My cousins and I would take turns jumping off her back into the water and the swimming back/climbing back on her. While she would just stand there in the water letting us do this. Also we would ride her double bareback along the busy road to the corner shop to get candy. No helmet of course.
When I was a teen my friends dad would tie a bunch of ropes and inner tubes to the back of his truck and haul ass down the base fence side roads (he was a MP) when it was muddy, with us sitting in the innertubes.
Before I die (maybe immediately before) I am going to get drunk and do a barbie car race at my cousin's place (they have dirt bike/atv trails all over their property).

RE: Back in my day....
I once jumped off the roof of our house after opening up the patio table umbrella because I thought it would be a parachute like in cartoons.
It wasn't.
Luckily this was shitty ass base housing so it wasn't a huge fall. For awhile I was certain it would have worked from a higher elevation.

RE: RL things I love
Cute, hilarious, and so totally American--
My friend who won her election to the state legislature was born in India, but moved to the US while she was still a baby pretty much. So she does not speak Hindi at all, knows how to read her name, but that's it.
But, apparently this is super big news in the area of India her family is from, so she's being tagged in all these news stories, people are sending her newspaper and FB new articles about her, ect. and she doesn't know what in the hell any of them are saying about her, it's other people that know her that are translating for her what they're saying (I mean her parents could too, but she's getting quicker translations on her personal FB). Since they're pulling pictures from her public facebook, lots of her RL friends are showing up in these news stories too. It is super funny.
This makes me smile so hard. And get even more excited about the next round of elections because we have a ton of candidates that we've been recruiting/working with who are first gen Americans, first potential office holders in their entire family history, young people, old people who never saw themselves running for anything before, you name it. Every time I feel sad or tired, I love to spend time hanging out with these folks, and it makes me believe everything's gonna be ok in the long term.

RE: Ideal Scene Length?
2ish hours. 3 can be comfortable depending. But this is in regards to a social scene. For a GMed scene I can easily deal with 3 because theres time usually for me to stretch/walk around, ect. When I GM, I prefer to keep things under 4 hours from time of scheduled start (I build in time for scheduled breaks and unscheduled breaks). I am old. Literally I start to hurt pretty bad if I am stuck without a physical stretch break of 5-15 minutes every 90 mins or so.

RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
I am super interested in the game, and would totally app in at some later date should there be a die off of active players a few months from now (as I am 90 percent sure will happen). I do not like to get in on opening day on any game these days because of the surge/whining that it isnt what tons of players thought it would be/die off pattern that is standard for games endorsed by popular folks now, because it can be a game killer. I find the sweet spot is 6 months or more after a game opens if it is super popular.

RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
Games have absolutely been overwhelmed and even damaged by the flood of apps when excitement peaks here or other word of mouth situations. Both in the front end work (dealing with the avalanche) and then dealing with the volume of the usual complaints (mushers can be like angry locusts) and then inevitably by the sudden holes when 80 percent of the influx flakes out or loses interest or never even makes one grid scene.
It is a known issue. If the staff are doing things to keep it manageable FOR THEMSELVES rather than chasing the needs/wants of the huge group most of whom who will not stay, that's a good thing for the game, even if it might inconvenience some players.

RE: Looking for...
Please no wiki of people. That went way off the rails in the last iteration, into grossness.

RE: A theme-less, CGen-less game
I wouldn't use it. But I have no objections! More simple venues are better than less, IMO.

RE: The Board Game Thread
@sab you might really really love legacy betrayal then!

RE: RL things I love
TFW your 17 year old asks if we can do a family dinner out and then all go run around to all the geeky stores at the mall together for their birthday (while they spend their own money not yours) with all their sibs and hang out after the little goes to bed to play a round of betrayal legacy. Def worth dumping all the online schedule for. It's making me teary eyed actually.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
It is meant for sore/chapped/cracked nipples for breastfeeding moms, which I understand may turn some people off but it is a really excellent balm for any part of the body that is experiencing chapping/cracking skin.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
This might seem gross, but the only thing that has worked super well on winter split/chapped lips/skin for me (and my kids) is lansinoh. You find it in the baby care section. Basically it is lanolin (dont use if you are allergic to wool). It is a lot cheaper than lip balm but it is a awesome moisture seal and barrier. No scent. It was the only thing that cleared up the horrible weeping rash that one of my kiddos used to get from licking his chapped lips in the winter. I use it as a barrier to keep my hands from getting g chapped when it is cold and dry and I am handling lots of thin handled but heavy bags for work.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
I have hyper mobile joints, but that has gotten progressively worse with each pregnancy. Now I will randomly dislocate metatarsal bones in my feet by walking esp while weight bearing. My hands and wrist bones will dislocate too but it for whatever reason is not as painful as my feet, which depending on which metatarsal and what end they dislocate is blinding near fainting pain for a flash (then just normal pain until I can take off my shoes and manipulate things back into place. I partially dislocated a hip joint using improper body mechanics in massage school, and always have my pubis synthesis joint go out of alignment several times during pregnancy.
I can do cool stuff with my body and nice parlor tricks, but as I get older the more painful the accidental/incidental/just walking around dislocations are. The pubis and feet are the worst though. At least for me. I have never had a knee go out, though.

RE: RL things I love
Family movie is watched, stockings are stuffed, single santa gift for the 4 year old (a matchbox car garage with carwash/repair shop) is assembled, I've prepped as much as I can for a house full of chosen family to join hubby, the kids, and I for dinner tomorrow (standing rib roast, cornish hens, yorkshire puddings, all the fixings). My heart is very happy.

RE: Holiday materialism! Let's talk gifts.

RE: The Board Game Thread
Super excited to start a family game of Legacy Betrayal after tomorrow (we got a copy for the big kids, since our most requested game on family game night for the teens is Betrayal at House on the Hill. Though they like Redneck Life too (we have all the expansions).

RE: Poll: Are MU* video games?
I wouldn't call a mush a video game to other gamers. It has been useful to just say I like to play computer games, that's my hobby that I spend hours on doing, when I am talking to mundanes who are not into interactive screen activities with whom I'm having nice pleasant conversation with.

RE: What drew you to MU*?
@arkandel I think that failure as a term in mushing is meaningless.
Failed=closed?
Failed=scandal laden but still open?
Failed=Hired That Person I Don't Like?
Failed=Fired That Person I Don't Know I'm Not Supposed to Like?
Failed=I cannot get RP no matter how much I demand it on channel or try to put myself out there?
Failed=I see people getting stuff I dont know how to but want so they must be cheating/staff favorites?
