@thugheaven I readily accept that you are advertising on here and that you might get folks interested. But it's aggravating to watch the thread go around in circles instead of just going "Yeah, this is part of the playstyle, if you're not into it probably not the game for you." Instead it's a whole defensive spiral about why the playstyle ISN'T THAT BAD and IT USED TO BE WAY WORSE or something.

@aria Parks & Rec and The Good Place are the first that comes to mind for upswings.
No joke on The Good Place. There is not a single episode that I should not positive. I haven’t felt this hopeful for characters since Pushing Daisies.
Pushing Daisies is another great suggestion!

RE: Doctor Strange
I'm glad he's doing it with an accent, at least. They were weirdly cagey about whether he'd be playing it American.

I don't think I've seen gender swaps a lot, however, so much as creative interpretations of FC sexuality. Which is also always someone just wanting to bring out their particular fetish into the FC. I don't think I've ever seen that go over well. Ever.
Wait, what?
Yeah, uh, are we talking about "adding hardcore fetish interest to an FC" or are we having the argument "taking an FC who generally appears as straight in canon and exploring bisexuality on a MU* is about someone playing a fetish"? Because if it's the latter, that's gross to say, and also, I have seen it go over well plenty of times.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@thugheaven It's bad to some people, because they don't like it. Belaboring the point to people who aren't interested in it is the definition of unproductive.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@auspice I remember this going through my Tumblr dash years ago and thinking it looked neat even if I don't really draw.

RE: Doctor Strange
Yeah, I'm not seeing where the issue lies, either. Strange is on a totally different battleground, as it were. I don't see why Strange is different than any other major hero they'll be introducing. I mean, they're doing an origin story.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
If a bunch of people start going to the same coffee shop to talk to each other on a regular basis -- like every day -- then yeah, it's a community. If there's a guy who goes in and just stops by long enough to say hi and put a poster up on the bulletin board, maybe he's not engaging in the community, but he'll clearly be able to see that it's the same people chatting there every day, so denying that a community of sorts exists seems pretty blind.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@thugheaven No, I'm saying that the people who are in this thread talking about not liking the idea of the playstyle are not going to be convinced by your pages and pages of defense of it.

(@Sparks, you should put your forums back up sometime.)

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@thatguythere So I think it's really about the fact that the community exists but you personally don't engage with it beyond the surface level. Which is fine! But it's really inaccurate to say that the community aspect isn't already going on. You're just not personally interested in it.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@thugheaven So you're saying Armageddon has an equal amount of OOC communication and collaboration as your average MUSH or MUX in regards to OOC mistakes?

@Sparks Well, I really appreciate the client, its so WIN compared to the other options out there. FURTHERMORE... it makes all Windows clients look like a toddler drew on your screen in crayon... JUST SAYING.
No joke, Sparks now has friends who sigh wistfully at her to write a Windows version of Atlantis. (I am not one of them because I already have a Mac.)

Loner-slash-misanthropes don't work on MU*. They can work, I suppose, if you're OOC well connected and set them up in just the right way, but why burden yourself like that?
My favorite is when people app characters who are TOTAL LONERS and DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ANYONE and then whine about not getting good RP.
Like, man, you made your bed. You're right that they CAN work, but they require planning and a lot of proactivity from the player. Setting up built-in PC connections with players you like helps. But nothing drives me crazier than people apping misanthropic loners and then expecting everyone else to continually make a huge effort to hook them into RP.

@lithium It is client side. You set up a timer in your client to send the word "idle" like you would with "@@" on another codebase

9/10 straight women agree: Happy boners best boner. Angry boners come in at number two, and way at the bottom of the pack, nobodies favorite: Sad boners. Poor, poor sad boners. No body wins with a sad boner. T-T
A sad boner shouldn't even be in this thread. Monsters.
Better take out that Kylo Ren gif, then.

Our playerbase on Alpha & Omega was very much not nWoD players, but WORA sneered at us because we were running a limited consent game on MOO without sheets or statted combat.
Right, but folks that like limited consent and non-statted actions would probably feel comfortable with FS3. It's a pretty simple system that doesn't require giant tomes to achieve awesomeness.
Oh! I totally misread your post. I thought you were saying that you were predicting getting nWoD players. Because I'm dumb and distracted.
I will try to think on my experience with limited consent and FS3 type players and say something smart. Also I'm sure that the other staffers and players from A&O might chime in.
I do think that you're starting off right by limiting your setting and faction. For A&O, we were on Omega (which is a GREAT setting for a MU, perfect size) and all our PCs were in one merc company. So similar type of deal in terms of focusing.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
Well, the mod team was asked to make it clearer when they're speaking as moderators and when they aren't. Glitch and ES just weren't prolific posters, which is a really relevant difference. That said, they were the ones to start the MOD VOICE trend, and they actually offered it as a suggestion when the board was handed over. But there was less confusion with Glitch and ES because they just didn't post as much. So, like. Idek.
