@arkandel I fucking hate sending @mail in TinyMUX. Penn's alright, but tbh I really appreciate the work @faraday did with her +mail code. It's the best mail system I've seen/used in MUing.

RE: A new platform?
@thatguythere I think the overwhelming popularity of programs like Slack and Discord kind of indicate that people generally like having channels be their own pages. At least it's not something I've ever seen someone complain about.
Also, I'm on a Discord with several hundred people as well as a Slack that has almost a thousand people in it. Having channels be their own page makes catching up on conversations far, far easier. I'd probably shoot myself if I had to go through all the slack messages to see which ones I was actually interested in. So much easier to just click on the channel and catch up on what I missed.

RE: Experienced Tiers or How much is too much?
@thenomain said in Experienced Tiers or How much is too much?:
This is what I honestly think about Tiers:
They're stupid.
Look, give everyone 300xp (or whatever) and then go back to the slower-xp system that WoD/CoD expects.
Throwing people all over the map for what they can and can't get involved in just tweaks me the wrong way. I can elucidate, but for the moment it's just a knee-jerk reaction of "barf".
100% agree with all of this.

Thanks to @Ifrit's never ending patience (and telling me how to do stuff) and @Tehom's code as reference we have a roller! Hoozah!
<Roll> Hibiscus gained 7 successes at difficulty 5. [12, 8, 9, 10, 3, 2, 6, 9, 2, 5]
Nice, looks like it's based on rolling d12s?

I have to say @SunnyJ's post seems pretty spot on. This feels like a "Fallcoast's who list dropped to 30 and another 'generic multisphere WoD' game opened, panic!!!!" kind of move.
Like...log into Fallcoast to discuss "code ideas"???
I just want to add that I did log onto Fallcoast and I'm on the GameDev channel and I've seen absolutely nothing being discussed today.

@sunny Yes. Dates like that are always placeholders.
@Thenomain And we do kinda know what it is -- https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333 -
RE: Development Thread: Sacred Seed
@cobaltasaurus What kind of weaponry do people use anyway. You mentioned some level of technology, but are the weapons more melee-based? I could see guns and other ranged weapons would probably be something the Seeded might not want to have used against them.

What's the Tech Level?
Frontier / Wild West kind of... The very very rich Seedless have access to prototypes of cars, and other mechanical wonders. There's telegraphs and maybe even telephones. However, technology containing lead and copper makes the Seeded sick to be around it. So technology has been hampered in some ways. The Seeded control the vast majority of the wealth, and they don't fund things that will make them sick.So lead and copper have no impact on the Seedless? What about weapons? Are there bans on the materials or can a Seedless grab a copper dagger and really do some damage against one of the Seeded?

@coin @Cobaltasaurus lol, well this is what happens when we read forums at work.

I just wish they'd hurry the fuck up with Changeling and Sin-Eater so people can stop making 1e games. >.>
Absolutely this right here. Unfortunately it feels like that's going to be a long while still.

So I said...

And let's be honest, if people got Staff to cave on adding a few equipment items from those books, then they'd start wanting more. And more.
And then you said...
@magee101 said in San Francisco: Paris of the West:
Some of the merits are fine and in fact there is two concepts in particular that are so suboptimal as to be useless in wod without the fs merits provided in armory reloaded.
Also your use of the word "suboptimal" just tells me you want some of the broken toys to make some crazy min-max characters with.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@magee101 said in San Francisco: Paris of the West:
@sunny I half disagree. Sure WoD games are not entirely about gear, but gear (material things and wantinf those things) is a core facet in a lot of concepts, storylines, and drama. Saying WoD is not about gear is like saying DnD is not about roleplay.
There are plenty of options in the corebook which don't bring into account some of the dumb stuff Armory and Armory: Reloaded brought into the game. And let's be honest, if people got Staff to cave on adding a few equipment items from those books, then they'd start wanting more. And more.

My only concern (other than 1e broken combat merits, yes I am looking at you multi-action merits, and some other splat specific merits) is that XP Tiers always segregate RP.
Those who come in with big xp can just obliterate lower xp people. A lot of it is dependent on how pvp is handled and such but in general... not had a lot of good experience with xp tiers personally.
Will be giving this a chance eventually though.
That's an understandable concern with XP Tiers, and is something we're keeping a very close eye on in the early stages.
As for broken combat merits... we do not use Armory or Armory Reloaded on Paris of the West. No Fighting Styles are allowed.
Gunslinger isn't a fighting style and it's on your list of allowed merits and is pretty broken.

@magee101 Our 'alpha' is more about allowing people to log in and look around (right now, we're locked down to staff logins only). CharGen is still being coded, and our Wiki is still being built, but we'd like the opportunity to see who's interested in our idea, set up a dialog, kick around some story ideas with our first 'wave' of players. At some point during Alpha, we'll open up Chargen, because I'm very sure that people will find bugs in my code, and I'd rather find them sooner than later.
Beta is where we start talking about character approval. Some of our House Rules may still be in flux during this point as well, but will be firm by the time we open.
Sounds awesome. Looking forward to hopping on and checking it out.

So what's the word on The Reach 3: The Reach Around? Curious because I was listening to some 80s tunes earlier.

RE: Valorous Dominion
If some changes are going to be made, can someone please make it a bit wider? I have an ultrawide monitor and while I only use my browser on half the screen, it's still incredibly narrow and I think it could help with adding more dropdown menus up top as well.

RE: Valorous Dominion
So I updated the Gaspari house page with some openings in the house in case someone's looking for hooks or anything:
http://valorous.wikidot.com/house:gaspari
I'm also more than happy to have cousins who married out as well, or another sibling who did. So hit me up if you are looking for a hook there.
