RE: Critters!
We brought baby Calypso to my sister's wedding with us and this is her happily sitting with my brother and his service dog Levi. This is the first time since his accident (17 years ago) he has gotten to hold or pet a cat since most won't sit this serenely.

Alas, no. It isn't till evening. Thankfully my father and brother made it through. So that is good. Some of the extended family has bowed out.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Living in the mountains presents all SORTS of problems. Right now it's mud slides that keep washing out the interstates and making them impassable.
Usually it's just one way - but the last few days both sides of the valley have ended up blocked off, almost completely isolating the town I grew up in. This would be whatever, take the +2 hour detour, whatever - but my sister's wedding is this weekend and the interstate is KIND OF important. Also, if it's blocked in both directions, then there ~isn't~ a good detour.
One friend replied "Leave early!" to my concern and it took everything in me to go, "My quadraplegic brother is at the mercy of his caretakers with young children and literally ~can't~ leave earlier. He can leave when his caretakers get him up, my father arrives, and he gets packed. A 2+ hour detour means they arrive around midnight, and blocked roads in both directions means not only my brother but possibly my father might miss my sister's wedding."
#grump.
If it could just stop raining for a bit please.

RE: Critters!
I felt bad leaving our singleton foster (seen above and named Calypso for sure) even with the person who is going to foster sit our other four... so we brought her with us for my sister's wedding!
She is running around our hotel room like a madman because it is ALL SO COOL. Then she'll abruptly run back to me for a small pet before she is OFF AGAIN.
No pictures, cuz she hasn't settled long enough for me to take one.

Remind me to go shout outside people's doors again soon.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
When I'm doing a more social scene I have to put a lot more effort in to creating the kind of drama (as in the flavor of what people react to, not like omg kind of stuff) that will get people engaged. So often it is "hi how are you" back and forth and that just gets boring.
Speaking of, @thesuntsar is the best at this. 10/10 would coffee shop again.

Time to get some nail polish or washi tape to mark that for next time.
I'm being agressivly positive that this will be fine.

RE: Critters!
It is crazy how different their personalities are! My Kiva is a total "whats up, oh, forgot I don't care" type while my Lyra is "OMG A SOUND I MUST HIDE WHAT IF IT GETS ME".

RE: Podcasts
Lol, the best quote so far is:
Science is the process of getting things a little less wrong.

RE: Podcasts
The name basically says exactly what it is about. It follows times that a wide held belief was just plain... wrong. I just finished an episode about leaded fuel and it was amazing.

RE: Critters!
This is the new foster baby. I say baby because legit, just one.
See, this family brought her in and surrendered her yesterday.
Then they called back a few hours later sobbing about how they had made a terrible decision and could they PLEASE have her back, swear promise- everything under the sun. The shelter believes them. Super appreciative family shows up and takes her home in a shower of love.
Today a man shows up with her and surrenders her again. Problem is that the foster family she WAS going to go with had just taken in another spur of the moment surrender of five kittens.
So the shelter didn't HAVE a place for her. So as they talked about where they could possibly put her (the best option being a little pop up pen in someone's room), I opened my mouth and volunteered our home and bathroom because we'd moved the bigger kittens to our guest room. (Note, SOs are allowed to get peeved at decisions like this where they aren't included in the decision process...)
So now she is with us. And I want to slap some people silly because she is SO scared and SO sad.
Don't take an animal into your home unless you are ready for the lifetime commitment. They do feel.

RE: MU* Clients
I've never claimed to do it well. X.x
Mukluk allows you to pause the scrolling, and if I need to edit a pose I copy it over to a note app and edit there so I can see the whole thing.
Mostly I propose like wwwoooaaahh.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
During the summer I literally don't know what day it is from moment to moment.
So I put everything in my calendar.
Except that doesn't work when the event doesn't saaavvveee. X.x
This woman I'm foster-kitty-sitting for is probably wondering if she made a mistake by not finding someone else. X.x

RE: MU* Clients
Currently I use MukLuk on my phone. It is simple and streamlined. No bells and whistles. Only a single line for input and with my phone keyboard the delete and enter button are right next to each other so I hit enter before I'm done a lot.
On my Chrome book I use an extension called DuckClient. Again, basic, but functional. It logs and you can set some basic triggers (I've only ever colored my name).

RE: Critters!
Now if they could just get over their respiratory infection....
(They are on their third round of antibiotics - a different kind this time.)
It is a good thing they are forgiving for the amount of medicine I stuff in their mouths and ointment I wipe on their eyes.
