To be fair, there was a grounder/delinquent romance in the show, even, and it doesn't really seem unthemely to me.

I was pretty bummed to realize elsethread how many people hate scheduling. It’s an extremely rare case in which I can just do pickup rp. I don’t like it either, but it’s kind of schedule or nothing for me at this point.
I do not think it's a majority of people that don't like to schedule, but instead a very vocal minority, if that helps.

Also I think my love for Invincible has made me more content then I should be with my super hero fill of greatness!
I love Invincible SO MUCH. I can't really do gore so it gets rough at moments, but gosh, the characters and storytelling are so good it keeps me watching despite my hangups.

RE: The 100: The Mush
@Miss-Demeanor How does it having a playstyle that you personally do not like make it less of a game that other people can play on and participate in?

So, alternative currency, maybe use it to play an antagonist for a specific time and plotr, to skip[ PRP justifications, to create a side economy of trifles and gewgaws and other limited one use items from across the spheres. Cash in for a personal plot about your past. Theres a lot of ways to use an alternate currency that isnt directly related to inflating your character's stats more.
I am a huge alternate currency fan. There are a LOT of things that you can do that will motivate people just fine, starting with "fate points" and wiki badges and going from there.
It is an interesting thought to me: what if you made said alternate currency tradable between players, as well? So like, you earn some, and you can pay Bob 5 of it to do something for you, and then Bob can use it to buy whatever from staff (or someone else). If you did it right you could encourage all sorts of things.

Augh I didn't look (and won't, because I am such a baby about these things) but I am IMAGINING and it's terrible. GROSS.

RE: The 100: The Mush
@Miss-Demeanor Okay, and so I go back to, what about the people playing it who do enjoy it?
Why does having a playstyle that you (and a few others, because the BS 'oh somebody said something to me but I refuse to name names but it's a LOT OF PEOPLE GUYS is bullshit) don't like make it a sandbox?

The? No. It shows that it is A way to get story.
That's your opinion as a person that thinks inter-personal RP via staff NPCs is fine.
Mine (as someone who does not think it's fine) is that I just saw Sue get a cool new weapon because she went 18-holes with StafferBob, and I did not get anything because I don't enjoy that particular flavor of RP and didn't jump on StafferBob's putter.
I may be completely wrong and pettily jealous, but now I'm completely wrong and jealous over here, on a game where I'm more comfortable with how staff uses their NPCs.
Why is this being presented as if it's a problem? If someone is going to be completely wrong and pettily jealous -- and behave in accordance with those feelings -- I don't want them on my game anyway, so it sounds to ME like in this scenario, literally everyone is winning.
Just wanting to understand, so I'm asking to clarify.
Are you saying that if Bob is upset and jealous that Steve got a shiny cool weapon with great stats after 18 sessions of TS with a staffer (and that Bob has not had this opportunity made available to him), that Bob's behavior is petty and that if he is removed from the game everyone wins?
If that is what you are saying, then I disagree.
It's not what I'm saying.

Just throwing my definition out there...
I interpret a "sandbox" game as something more akin to the video game definition, where a familiar setting is provided, but story is primarily up to the players to generate. Staff is there to approve characters, keep the game running from a code perspective, and generally provide structure without giving much in the ways of plot.
Sandbox games are usually wide, but shallow in terms of what story is provided by staff, giving players a lot more free reign to create their own RP.
EDIT: Not saying my definition is right, but I have very little experience with sandboxing, only having dipped my toe into the concept recently on a different game. I have almost entirely operated on what is defined as "open games."
Sandbox in the context being used is more like 'my backyard sandbox' where it's focused on staff and a small group of friends doing their thing.
Edit: Also. Just because people share personal tastes doesn't make something less a matter of personal taste. I do not like eating fish. Other people do not like eating fish. That does not actually mean that fish are bad to eat, nor that people who enjoy eating fish are bad, even though there are certainly people who express loudly and regularly that anything that they don't like is clearly bad.

What are "reduction of harm" policies?
It's not a thing beyond in that sentence, I was just trying to give an impression. Policies like 'NPCs can't have sex with PCs', because they're addressing 'some staffers do X' instead of being the good policy of 'I will fire people who abuse personal roleplay with players'.

( the John Cena post )
... I don't get it.
John Cena likes to put his hand up in front of his face like the LARP gesture for obfuscate, coupling it with, "You can't see me."
The joke is he's invisible in the picture.

Okay, I take it back. Sushi is gross and you're all horrible people for liking it.
(Not really, I actually like sushi, for the reasons @Taika mentioned, but I couldn't resist saying it)

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
So I got a pair of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018WPOQSG
If I can get used to having them in my ears, this will pretty much be the best thing I ever did. I put them in and it cut a TON of the background sounds out (not everything; I can still hear the air filter a little bit) and I felt an immediate physical difference in my stress level, like it dialed it down two notches. I seem to have no problems hearing things I need to hear, it makes ME sound weird to me but I anticipate getting used to it.

RE: The 100: The Mush
Sure, but shrieking bloody murder over a personal preference is ridiculous, and while trashing places is the thing, the expectation that folks who ARE having fun should just shut up is also ridiculous.

@Sunny So you don't think that having a sexual relationship with a person in power over the community that you are invested in is a detriment to the rest of the community? That it doesn't undermine trust as an impartial staffer?
Nope, because it's not actually a sexual relationship. No sex is happening.
ETA: GM's girlfriend is a thing because the girlfriend is ACTUALLY FUCKING the GM.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
The biggest difference it's made for me is cutting out the low hum of my desktop box / monitors, and the traffic noise of the fairly busy residential street. I can still hear the air purifier. I don't really encounter like, chewing noises, so I couldn't say there.

RE: Dragon Age: Smoke & Shadows
Okay. So. The objection I had was that this is a game about X. It was then stated that no, it is not a game about X. Which turned my question into 'why have X at all'?
I don't think it makes them bad people or even a bad game, it's just that hell would freeze over before I'd play on a game with this setup.

The comment hit home and as a result I did get emotional, and hurt, and I am withdrawing from engaging with you with a roll of my eyes. I'm not going to explain it because I don't owe that to you. That I'm bothering to tell you it hurt my feelings is a favor.
