    • RE: RL things I love

      I work in IT. I am doing so from home.

      My coworkers that are working in the office dropping everything to run and be my hands for 2 minutes for part of a bit of troubleshooting? It's ducking priceless. I cannot possibly express my appreciation for them enough. Not having to send somebody back into a ticketing system because I can't physically flip a switch is super, super helpful.

      The analogy I have been having fun with lately is that we are all running a 10 mile marathon. None of us has gone over 5 miles before. We are at 9 miles. We can see the finish line. That last mile, though, may as well be a hundred right at the moment. But it’s so close, so the temptation to just push through without a rest is...so strong. But you can’t, once you hit that wall. You gotta rest.

      I had to google it the other week myself. Only reason I knew.

      Morning. Nice day for fishin, innit?

      That was really, really good, lol. I saw what it was and laughed, intending to watch a couple of seconds, and now here I am having finished it. I'm impressed with a lot of things about it, but particularly the actors' ability to convey emotion and intent.

      I was going to correct myself, but then I saw my last post time and figured out how it works. So it DOES update the "last login" whenever you post, even if you're set invisible (like I am).

      Nah, just somebody set to not show their logins. If they're invisible or show offline or whatever it is, it doesn't out you by giving you a new last login date.

      I just got the best performance eval at work that I have ever had in my life. I did not realize how such a thing would make me feel. I am so, so blessed to be able to do work professionally that I'm good at.

      Oh, awesome. Those are great!

      Taking a second dose after you've taken the first dose and aren't feeling it can be dangerous until you know how your body processes it. If these things are sneaking up on you, you won't recognize the signs. On the other side of the coin, generally the worst that's going to happen is you're going to sleep the sleep of the dead (and maybe get a little queasy), so it's not the end of the world. It's just not...useful, to figuring out future dosages. It isn't likely to harm you in any way to follow the "after 2 hours" recommendation, but it will poison your data (so to speak).

      Also, if you're going for sleep-aid, try to get something that's 1:1 CBD:THC. The CBD is actually the important part for that, and again, a lot of the products strip it out (because people only want to get high, and CBD can interact with that in weird ways).

      @alamias

      Okay, cool. Sativas tend to trigger anxiety more than indica; the problem with the edibles (and a lot of the other products made from distillates) is that they take out EVERYTHING except for the THC, and part of the parts they take out is like, the anti-anxiety stuff. Look for "whole plant" and "strain specific" type of labeling, it's going to be better for you and run into less of a chance of side-effects.

      What I'd recommend in your shoes is to buy a 10 pack of the 10mg; you already know 10mg doesn't give much of an impact, so on a Friday night (or whatever; you don't want to fuck yourself up for work the next day on accident) increase the dose you took last time, see what happens. So do 2 candies. If you see no appreciable difference, next Friday, have 3 candies. Do NOT, as a noob, "wait two hours and just take another" -- that's only once you're familiar with what it does to you, and you can more accurately judge safety/impact while you're NOT impaired.

      Indica is a body high / relaxant, sativa is a head high and tends to spur "creativity" (though most of what it spurs is right proper stupid, mind). Many many people's experience with Indica is "take that, go to sleep", so be aware that a nap might be your end result.

      @alamias

      At 10mg it's entirely possible that the only impact was a little bit of chill and mellow, and maaaybe a tiny bit of floaty, which is really easily attributed to "I want to notice this, so I'm noticing it, but there's not actually anything happening" when there IS actually a bit of floaty. There's a lot of factors around dosage just like there is with any other medication, so I wouldn't be too bothered by "no effect", and it's good to start with a small dose. Mostly though at that dosage level, what you're going to be "feeling" is just...mellow. The dog barking isn't as irritating. The bitching your neighbor does is funny. Stupid jokes are a little more amusing. It's not all that distinguishable from having taken a really nice, long bath.

      When you start increasing the dosage to "high" levels, you'll get head-floaty and your limbs will just feel...good. At that point though, be aware that if you have anxiety issues, there is a good chance of running into a strain that will trigger those, especially when you're talking edibles that don't have a specific strain noted on them.

      If you have the oomph and energy to do so (you should not feel like you're obligated), you could consider reporting her to her oversight board in your state/county. She's unlikely to face consequences from a single complaint of this sort of thing, but having a record of it on file will help, and if other people have ALSO complained--it might eventually get teeth.

      Also, it's super helpful from a 'cement in my mind she was WRONG WRONG WRONG' standpoint. Because she was. So wrong. I'm really sorry you went through this.

      And then...time passes. And no one asks for RP. And the little voice goes, "Oh. OH. So I was bothering people, and no one actually enjoys playing with me. That sucks. Now I feel bad that I was being a pain in the ass for people."

      Literally the meltdown I had that I was referencing, yes! That's exactly what I did!

      But I was in such an awful place IRL that I was unable to get to the other side, internalized the "I was being a pain in the ass", and ran with it (to the point of THAT getting under peoples' skin). Instead of "people are creatures of habit, and they're in the habit of me being the asker", which was the actual truth in the situation.

      I don't know that there's much of a solution to this beyond being vocal about it happening and being a thing to watch for in the hobby so that when the stupid tiny voice starts talking, it's easier to shut up.
