It's a shitty thing to say said by well-meaning people who are genuinely intending to help. It's not usually said from a place that desires to be hurtful, which is why I'm sure that when he gets back to the computer and reads all of this he's going to feel not great. Message delivered loud and clear, I'm pretty sure.
Well, I mean, you walked into a conversation where people with medical conditions were discussing how they had difficulty specifically losing fat, and dropped that pearl of "wisdom" on their heads, I'm not sure what kind of reaction you were expecting.

Mash all leftover potatoes together, sweet and yam and regular. Put all the marshmallows and syrup and everything right on in. Then add egg and milk and flour by sight until you have a batter that looks like pancake batter. Cook like pancakes. WIN.
Frozen let them rise then bake them cinnamon rolls. I am so thankful for them right now.
Our local gaming and comic shop just posted on their FB that they have enough food.for everyone, yes, everyone, and the doors are open and there is room at the table. The woman who owns it is an amazing human.

We just got to that part. I think this is currently my favorite, lol. We've been binging the X-files lately too though, since we realized recently that the spawn has never seen it.

Stomach problems, apparently. I said things to her and she's going in today.
My baby sister is on FB talking about how she's only been getting a few hundred calories a day for a month and she's sick and blah blah but apparently this is not, in braindead land, enough for her to go to the damned doctor. I don't know what to do. I'm considering being objectively terrible to get her to do something. She will hate me for a few years, but.
I work for a tribe. Thanksgiving is not at all awkward here. It is a family focused holiday, and family is the thing. It's way different in other places in the country, obviously, this culture is way different than non-Salish tribes. But. "Celebrating" Thanksgiving as a time to get together with family and count our blessings doesn't make you a bad person. If you really are serious and upset about it, spend the holiday learning the history of one of your local tribes. Find out what issues they are facing, and see what you can do to help.
Learning (and teaching) the ACTUAL history of people is one of the things to do about the holiday.
I have had to kick people out of games and venues before for touching, grabbing, and once, kissing. We had a very, very strict no contact rule though, because we had too many people who wanted to rules lawyer consent to someone being touched I am not even kidding.
Yeah. I have had way worse experiences in other more mainstream but not actually mainstream hobbies. LARP creeper per capita is the highest I've encountered, in my anecdotal experience.
I have met tons of people. I had a few bad experiences, but mostly good. Better crowd than LARP was when I was a kid. People are mostly normal.
I do NOT voice chat with anyone I haven't already known for years, though, period. Not any more. Phone to meet up for plans? Yes. Discord talk? Never ever again. The assumption that voice chat means I want to talk sexy with someone is--really gross, and I have had a huge, huge problem with mushers and mmo players both. Apparently this is the fault of my particular voice, but whatever.
Also, no, no pictures. I don't care. I have a FB. Some people have seen it. I am an old fat woman. My bits are old. I do not need to send pictures.
