I will probably be resubbing for this. My old pvp guildies keep popping up in the strangest places (how did they even get my new discord wtf) asking if I was gonna put together a team, sooooo yeah. Probably!

    • RE: Space Games and Travel Time? Why? Why Not?

I am not actually a WoD player, either. However, I still feel like there's no reason for travel time to be strictly enforced on screen, let alone with space. If I have 2 hours to play tonight, and only 2 hours, I want to be able to go play, not sit for those two hours waiting to get to where the people are.

I think that ANY code/system/policy that interferes OOCly with players playing is not a good system. Code-enforced OOC travel time interferes with peoples' ability to roleplay. Thus, I think it's a bad idea.

I am going to guess it is the game that they already have and have been making commentary on and asking for feedback on.

There is a difference in orders of magnitude between "keep a game that already exists moving along" and "build a new game from scratch", and willingness to do the former does not in any way indicate the latter. It's not a fair request to make of somebody. Yeah, it would be great to build a new Firefly game, and somebody who thinks that should be done ought to do it. It's not the same project.

      My mom.

She's awesome and we have a great relationship these days. We haven't always, but as the years pass it gets better and better. The more I work at being present with her where she is, and working on understanding her for who she IS, not who I think she SHOULD be (as a mom), the better our relationship gets. I am so, so, so glad I was able to get my headspace in line enough to enjoy her for her. I'm a lucky duck.

No reset has been done on the game in recent years, and doing so would require a conversation with the other game admins. Some of the long-standing, overpowered players are gone, and some still exist but don't really play any more. This is really a good time to start something fresh on the game. None of the long-running plots are active. So come join us!

Something to consider, since you're using this as a selling point of the game now, is that if you do successfully revive the game and things get active/running again, is that a lot of those dinos / overpowered people / long-running plots will see that activity rearing its head, and once it's up and going again, they come back and stomp all over everything again.

This is a very standard cycle for games with this sort of -- situation. The problems all go inactive, so without those problems, a chosen few manage to get things swinging again. As soon as things start swinging again, the problems swoop back in because now there's a playground for them to mess up / dominate again. If you want to make it stick, you have to actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, rather than assuming the inactivity is a solution. It's not.

I was in somebody's office today, so I snagged a buddy to come watch me (my personal policy for going into peoples' locked offices without them). I bend over to inspect the printer and hear a gasp and a muffled sound from behind me. I look, my coworker very delicately asks me if I'm aware I have a rip in my pants.

No, no, I was not. It is a rip alllllllllllllllllllll the way down the seam along my rear end. Errything is on display (or at least my very adorable underclothing). EEK. So I am standing like a cat outside for the first time, staring and frozen, trying to figure out how I get back to my office to get my coat to wrap it around me, and my co-worker volunteers to walk Right Behind Me to ensure NOBODY WILL SEE. So she does. I get my coat, check in with my boss, head to the closest buy-pants-store.

Everyone at the store was REALLY nice, and the lady at the dressing room was all 'come back here when you've bought it and I'll let you change here' (which is generally something that this store does not do).

Could've been a terrible, humiliating experience, it really could've been. Instead, this is a hilarious story that I get to entertain myself and others with for ages. Also, my new pants are a- super cute, and b- fit better than the old ones, and they were only $20!

      @Aria

I just heard that all of the artifacts and individual pieces of art were also saved/survived (not the windows), too. And that only one person was hurt, a firefighter, and while he was seriously injured, is expected to recover. I'm hoping that this is true.

When things come together just right and that first sip of coffee in the morning tastes literally perfect. Just the right amount of grounds, blah blah blah. It's the simple things.

I am so blessed with my job.

Working from home today (instead of losing the hours) while I recover from a medical thing, with an assignment that's sort of like a donut assignment to begin with (it's a complete treat to be able to work on this stuff at all, it's super fun for me).

My boss just called to give me more work to work on, and it's all interesting research in a vein I research on my own for fun sometimes.

if you have a wizbit it takes two seconds to find the job and figure out who wrote it

If you have people with wizbits doing that shit, you've got a lot more problems.

Besides, it's more for player peace of mind than actual security.

Are you just not reading what other people are writing fully, or...?

An anonymous job is not an anonymous complaint. We were discussing the latter, not the former.

How else are you going to submit a complaint?

That code isn't anonymous. You can mask it from the interface, but if you have a wizbit it takes two seconds to find the job and figure out who wrote it. The code doesn't work like that.
