Healing as a paladin still feels clunky though. So many cooldowns.

I am terrible at rotations. I hate them. "Make sure you push every ability you have exactly the milisecond it comes off CD, in an exact specific order to stack various debuffs/etc." is not my idea of fun.

I got really into Guild Wars 2 for a few months earlier this year, until discovering that I can't be assed to bother with "rotations" to maximize my DPS even on the rogue (or w/e it's called) class that is basically just "SPAM AUTO ATTACKS". And it was flat out required for 'end game' stuff.

      Wiki looks very nice!

I did have a question though, about the 'adoptable' characters.

Are those characters staff is making explicitly for the roster, or are they characters players made (and played) months ago during a 'first attempt' of the game and are now getting made public as 'roster characters' in this reboot? Or was there a beta back in July, or what?

I thought it was the first option initially and was going to compliment the amount of effort put into those characters, they look like lots of fun. But a bit of wiki-fu'ing (IE, the page history showing that it was made by a name matching the character name, rather than some admin account) made me consider it might be option B, which I'm not sure how I'd feel about.

The reaction to the "pre-app process" here seems odd, when meanwhile over in the Gotham game thread literally every interesting female FC in the setting has already been claimed. Like a month+ before the game opens (for the record, that actually kind of bugged me). And that didn't draw a reaction at all.

Are people just more interested in mutants?

Yes, first come first serve... but what if four people app for a particular character all at once? It's not fair to just go 'oh, first in'.

I'm definitely not going to say it's "fair", but literally every Comic MU I've played (and even some I haven't played) in the past 5 years works like this.

4 people can't app for a character all at once, because you are apping the character from that charbit. So whoever was the first one to get the charbit "wins", unless their app is terrible and staff boots them.

You're not submitting an app via email or something.

Enoch said they aren't /processing/ apps until tomorrow. IDK why you would assume they meant the people listed aren't doing apps at all.

She even said in a previous post...

@enoch said in Mutant Genesis (X-Men):

Folks who asked for characters and sent pitches should have gotten their passwords. If I forgot anyone send me a message. 😃

I've never seen a hero game that wasn't "first come, first serve" in terms of getting the chance to app who you want.

The alternative is what, your players compete over a character, thus ensuring they hate the other person for beating them and hate staff for not picking them?

I've tried playing the first Dragon Age so many times. In theory, it should totally be my kind of game... But I just can't. It doesn't capture me at all.

Same. I have played through about half of it a couple times. Something about it just doesn't click. IDK what it is.

If Morrigan wasn't a 10/10 character, I probably wouldn't have tried so hard.

I really enjoyed Inquisition, aside from all of the characters being god awful trash heaps (except Cassandra and the Iron Bull guy).

      Now the interrogation begins.

@Auspice, how many times have you attended IC orgies with F&L's staff?

      Inquiring minds want to know.

My time spent playing on F&L was also terrible, and led me to decide that the game was not for me, or for anybody I know.

Disclaimer : I have never played on F&L.

But sometimes, I think I've seen enough drama about the place, that I feel like I have.

Yeah, I usually cover the details in paragraph 1 and then paragraph 2 is quite often just "She tends towards casual attire like jeans and t-shirts."

Every once in a while, even to this day, I still get 'inspired' to write some big 3+ paragraph monstrosity, but some days I have a hard time getting motivated at all and just want to put "She looks something like this <insert link>."

      Yeah, idk.

The specific example of the cop and his desc not being read thing...

Like it probably should've mentioned in ONE OF the poses, that they're in uniform. Like what is going in the poses, nothing descriptive at all? It could've been something as minor as "settles a hand on his hip, against the belt that's part of his police uniform".

I mean, people definitely don't read descs, but come on. Nevermind that, for every instance of a situation like that, there's one where somebody leaves the WRONG desc on, and somebody poses about it and the person goes OMG NO THAT IS THE WRONG DESC YOU CAN'T DO THAT!

There's still plenty of secrets out there, I just don't think stuff like 'my vampire is a Daeva' qualifies as something that should be kept secret in the first place, which is the general problem. At least in WoD, I've noticed people tend to want to try and keep really trivial shit secret. I, thankfully, missed the days of the "OOC Masquerade", but I can't imagine how that was ever helpful, unless your game was meant to be intensely competitive and not cooperative at all.

Let me just say, I actually like @tnp and have had great fun RPing with him in the past.

I also know he's pretty fond of Mimic as a character though, so it makes it a little hard to take any of his comments without a grain of salt, since they all seem to have been fuelled from the initial gasoline of 'they banned the guy I like! and they're playing Jean Grey! WTF! What about staff alts? HUH?' At some point it starts to seem less like discussion and more like looking for an excuse to attack.

Just some thoughts, since we're trying to do this whole 'Be a Better MSB' thing.

@collective Whether MUers can be trusted with this sort of thing is definitely an entirely different question, yeah and not one that history gives much hope for.

      Alas.

Staff would literally have to be on HIGH ALERT regarding both IC and OOC predatory/shitty/etc behavior every single time a new player gets a character.

As long as the other players aren't actual jerks about the "ICly being mad over a breakup" kind of stuff, I think it could be fun.

Despite playing comic MUs, I am no comic expert. Didn't Speed/Wiccan come up in the other X-Men game thread? They aren't really X-Men characters and I don't think they've ever been broadcast as such.
