Crafting system. Is that going to go hand-in-hand with an economy/money system?

Are we talking Firan-level here? With somebody having to go out and mine the iron ore for the blacksmith to the make a sword, and that's the only way to 'get' a new sword is from a PC blacksmith? With customizable ansi coloring (256?) and ascii enabled descriptions/names opposed to just 'iron short sword'?

Or somebody having to raise the sheep and shear them to make wool for the weaver/etc? Want your noble to have 'pretty jewelry', you need to pay for the gems and precious metals and jeweller and not just desc yourself as wearing the hope diamond because 'omg i r noble'?

      Or something less than that?

    • RE: The elusive yes-first game.

I'm not reading all of this. Is 'yes-first' a thing people actually want in a MU?

Sounds like an awful fucking idea. Especially since most MUers are complete and utter, entitled, self-centered trash. Somebody /needs/ to smack the population of this hobby around, even if it means they leave that particular game.

All the WoD games in particular seem to pretty quickly turn to garbage, out of fear of telling people they can't have/do things.

The counter-issue is that telling people no is usually flawed with that staff telling their friends yes, which is a whole different beast.

    • RE: Star Wars: Age of Alliances

The important question is, can you be force sensitive and have a lightsaber.

Gonna assume not, since 9/10 Star Wars MUs seem to outright ban that or save it for staff-pals. Which is why the genre has died, IMO. I don't wanna play some goddamn Han Solo knock-off. I want a lightsaber.

    • RE: Spying on players

Yeah, no. No 'spying' on players. And moving around the grid wiz-invis and 'watching rp' is precisely that, OOC spying. It's just as bad as spying on pages, private group channels, etc.

Reminds me of how much I disliked Kaleb on TR once I realized he had something set up to watch RP in the Elysium when he wasn't there.

If you want to get an idea of what's going on? Go participate, or ask. Yes, people will lie to you. Yes, people will do things in private scenes they shouldn't or they won't actually spend resources when using powers/etc. Oh well.

Star Wars was fucking awesome. Much better than I expected, even if the story wasn't exactly "original". They did an amazing job.

    • RE: Comparing and Contrasting the Clans of VTR2

They are far too facerolly, and WtF 2E gives you almost no real reason to make anything else. Rahu can be just as good at fetish making and rites as anybody else (especially with the book's dumb idea to let people roll whatever they want for rites).

I feel like the removal of Rahu completely would honestly help diversify the sphere, and in a very good way, not just for the hell of it. Using Reno's +census as an example, as of a week or two ago, it looked something like....15 Rahu, 5 Ithaeur, 5 Elodoth, 5 Cahalith, 10 Irraka. As many Rahu as /3 other Auspices combined/. Yeah, sure, look at like Vampire and there's usually a 'popular' clan, but I've never seen ratios like that.

Completely unrelated to the above thing, but slightly related to this thread/topic, I was bored and putzing around with the +census <trait> thing on Reno. Some amusing findings.

      People with Nightmare 4+? -- 2.
      People with Animalism 4+? -- 3
      People with Majesty 4+? -- 4.
      People with Dominate 4+? -- 5.
      People with Obfuscate 4+? -- 5.
      People with Auspex 4+? -- 6.
      People with Celerity 4+? -- 6.
      People with Resilience 4+? -- 13.
      People with Protean 4+? -- 15.
      People with Vigor 4+? -- 19.

Clan spread on Reno is pretty good right now, so that can't really be blamed on "there's a lot of XYZ".

I want to see the Auspice one, just for some lulz.

Werewolf would be a better sphere if someone just deleted the Rahu from existence.

On another note, this is entirely a player preference thing, but I'm not sure I agree with the 'combat effectiveness' ratings for Ventrue, Nossie, Mekhet.

My preference, if you are only going to get /one/ Physical discipline, Celerity is the best to have.

When you start getting into multiple physical disc's though, Resil/Vigor are probably the best, if you're picking 2.

Resilience alone is pretty lackluster unless the person/people you're fighting have NO physical discipline.

Celerity lets you auto-dodge or just flat out GTFO.

Vigor w/o Resilience or Celerity to back it up loses out to Celerity 1vs1, imo.

Vigor/Resilience combo though is fucking insane.

      @tragedyjones Well, fair enough then!

If you remove the potential for Bloodlines of other clans to have Dominate, then sure, the Ventrue are somewhere in the middle of the pack.

This is a silly argument. Any Ventrue bloodline also gets another discipline.

Animalism is pretty crappy. It's "better" than 1e Animalism, but it is still the worst discipline (would anyone like to argue this? Maybe I am wrong!). Lord of the Land is kind of cool, but....it's the dot5 power, it better be kind of cool.

Resilience is not the 'best' physical discipline. IMO, there is no best. The 3 physicals are pretty well balanced and each have different situations they shine in.

Core Ventrue has nothing but Dominate going for it. Ventrue + 1 other discipline is not on par with Any Other Clan + Dominate.

    • RE: Comparing and Contrasting the Clans of VTR2

@tragedyjones OP has given us no reason to think they won't, eventually. If anything, based on how they appear to be doing 2.0 Bloodlines, we can expect /more/ Bloodlines to get Dominate (and other 'Clan' discs), since they're doing 4 Discs + Devotions instead of unique disc.

    • RE: Comparing and Contrasting the Clans of VTR2

The problem is there are a lot of Nosferatu/Daeva/etc Bloodlines that get Dominate In-Clan, which IMO is the only thing Ventrue have going for them.

A Daeva with Dominate (and there are like....3? 4? different Daeva BLs that get it?) is loads better than a Ventrue with Majesty. Daeva with Auspex In-Clan is pretty hax too.

If Vampires were actually limited to their /clan/ Disciplines only, and could NEVER learn other ones, I would rate Ventrue higher.

As it stands, Ventrue in last place, by far.

    • RE: The State of the Chronicles of Darkness

Yeah, it was pretty much no-go on a MU for a lot of the Laws (or they were just....weird). I've forgotten most of them, but 'you shut down Discipline use in the whole city' and the 'people's Status causes them damage' are the ones that've stuck in my memory since my last look.

Based on the playtest stuff, it's looking like if you intend to implement SotC stuff on a MU you're gonna have to design your own custom stuff for the Carthians so they don't get left out of 'having cool stuff'.

Well, now I'm interested. 😂 They have to sing though.

Also, my hope is that they realized some of the SotC stuff was ridiculous coughcarthianlawscough and are taking time to..re-invent portions. But, they're probably just being slow for no real reason.
