@Sundown I think you are horribly mistaken on your point about 'misleading and misunderstood information' coming from people don't play, since the most recent issue was...the few pages about the freezing/idle policy which was not documented anywhere until after that debate, despite misinformed fan-squeeing players jumping in to go 'oh it's a rule that if you idle out you can be killed off'.

This thread is pages and pages of irrational bandwagon dislike for the game, by people who aren't playing but are somehow sure it's a terrible place. This thread has made me deeply mistrust anything posted on this forum, it was so completely warped from the actual reality of the game.
Surprise. Some people can really enjoy a game where other people have had bad experiences and others question some of the policies.
The reason for forums like this is so you are forewarned of things/problems that are possibly common when you go in to form your own opinion.

RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
3 days seems like a pretty shittastic window. If I want to stop playing a game for a whole fucking week, I shouldn't have to check in with staff like they're my mother or something, unless I'm Prince or what have you.

RE: Dust to Dust (Formerly the nWoD grenade thread)
I can't think of any reason to not use GMC rules. Even for the games that don't have a 2nd ed book out, you should probably do what you have to to make it work. I enjoyed the last Darkwater incarnation, even though it used GMC with non-2nd ed Changeling.
I personally don't get the defense thing. Yeah, it's hard to hit another combat monkey now. Makes sense, and you can easily scale NPCs for PrPs to be at a 'challenging' but not 'omg taking forever' level. Before, it was pretty much impossible to -miss-, since most people have 2-4 defense before adding armor/powers, and probably capped out well below 10, and you could hit 15 attack dice without even really trying or bringing in powers.

What is Dark Eras? What are those 2nd/3rd VtR books?
What are the things, TJ!? Tell me!
ETA : Thanks for the PM and link to the earlier post explaining, TJ.

RE: FOMO and MUSHing
Oh, lord yes. Really been trying to work on it, though. It's a pretty strong feeling when you go from being around and RP-able for 12-16+ hours every day of the week, to having shit to do and a job where you're not on a computer.
The worst feeling is when you do log on, instead of doing something you should be doing, and then basically loiter for half the day while nothing happens in game, at all. And then realize 'wow, that was a waste, I hate myself'.

@Tempest I don't know that Fate/Stay would be overly viable as a mu*. It'd probably work more as a mini-game or table top.
You're probably right.
Slightly related to this topic, does anyone here actually play on MahouMush?

RE: Anyone Play/Played Here?
I can't imagine ever playing on a Sailor Moon-only game, even though I actually liked it (in the day). A game where Sailor-fu is part of the setting/theme, sure. But Scouts and only scouts? Too many other anime-y things I'd rather play with. Gimme a Fate Stay Night/etc themed game.

Windy City MUX question.
Idly, I was poking at mudstats, and noticed Windy City on the 'updated' list, so I got curious. It's actually still up apparently (though clearly quite dead). Logged on a guest bit to poke at it, and I'm just wondering about something. What game system/code did Windy City use or base off of for their +sheets and what not, or is it a unique system they made? For the people who actually played there, was it any good or no? (The mechanics, not the game itself.)

RE: Goetia: nWod 2nd Edition and Crossover - Seeking Staff
@Coin Well, yeah, but on comic games that's kind of moot, I generally know what a character can do anyways, unless it's an OC. (Screw OCs.)
also, lol @ specialty in 'dick ripping'

@Tempest Games with open sheets and a focus on outside enemies are common, if you're not limiting yourself to WoD games. They seem to manage just fine.
I'm aware, and have played on some. However...I'm not sure I've seen such a game where the characters are by definition mostly asshole monsters that prey on other beings.
Off the top of my head, The Fifth World had open sheets and the focus was on a war against NPC aliens, but all the PCs were...humans that were all on the same side.

Personally, I'd recommend FATE. The Dresden Files RPG seems to me like it'd serve as a fantastic basis here and is a popular system.
I don't get FATE at all. Honestly, it seems like if you're considering FATE, you might as well admit you're not really interested in mechanics or numbers, and just use a trait-description system like most Comic MU*s do these days.

RE: Goetia: nWod 2nd Edition and Crossover - Seeking Staff
How do you just flat-out make a game of Demon/Werewolf/Vampire/etc "no-PVP"? So you can run around shittalking everybody you want, as a mortal, and people just have to deal with it and note down to never play with you again, or what? Joe Vampire can feed on Jack Vampire's ghoul (with the ghoul's permission of course), and Jack just has to roll his eyes, ditch his ghoul, and ignore it?
I mean, I mainly play Reno right now, and the potential for PVP is pretty slim, especially since Reno is pretty sandboxy and I mostly play with my coterie, but it's still a possibility.
Minimizing the potential for such things, in the setting (such as by having a senate to nerf vampire politic-fu like Reno has), is one thing. Outright going "no pvp or political intrigue allowed ever" is another thing.
Part of me likes the visible sheets thing, part of me doesn't. I'd go straight to 'not liking it at all' as soon as somebody presumes to tell me how to play my character based on my +sheet, and I'm sure it will happen.

Nobody gets uninvited or asked to leave due to WORA. So you can stop on that note..
I think this happened before you started playing there, Alzie. (This was back like, 2-3 months after the game opened?) You can ask Shavalyoth if it happened or not. There was no staff but her and Kougyoku at the time, if I remember right.
As for the dead stuff, I was looking at this.
http://kingsmouth.info/wiki/Departed
Which has a link to it straight from the main wiki page, and it has a 'Dead' section if you scroll down.
