Curious: What is it about GoT (which is in so many ways genericly fantasy-ish) that so many folks who want a fantasy game dislike? Are you looking for more high-fantasy magic-and-elf-PCs stuff, or?

GoT is too low fantasy for me, yeah.

And I poked at Tenebrae briefly, once upon a time. My charbit might even still be there. I like D&D just fine, but I didn't like how nothing really seemed to happen on the game except the events. Also, I made the mistake of getting too OOCly chatty with one of the staffers, and it got weird.

    • Fantasy MU*s?

Are there currently any active fantasy-esque MUSHes/whatever? Stuff with knights/witches/elves/dragons/whatever. (And not Game of Thrones themed.)

Our system is NWOD GMC currently 1.0 but we will move to 2.0 when that is available (Second Edition werewolf is implemented.)

...what does that even mean? It's GMC in the way that The Reach was GMC, I guess?

I've been approved here for 2 months, though just lurking (didn't actually get off my butt and RP until today, been busy on other games). Chromeo and the other staff have all been great the whole time, and the players are all pretty awesomely friendly. Cheers!🐼 🐧 👻 🌆

Mildly curious. Been ages since I saw a single episode of Buffy, I was more of an Angel fan...

Are most people playing slayers, or what?

Seems interesting, and I've honestly been baffled at the lack of a post-apoc MU, because it's the most common 'oh I wish there was a XYZ game' thing I hear.

Alas, I know no code, but good luck! And a not-WoD system (that isn't fucking FS3) is always interesting!

RfK used Wikia for a while at first, and yeah, it was painful.

I wonder why all the hero/comic games use wikidot, and none of the WoD games do.

Again, I'm sorry if you wanted a serious Stat Focused Super hero game. I'm sure there is one out there.

I actually don't think there is. (Not that I care.)

I've actually never heard that complaint, myself, @Misadventure .

Then again, I don't app OCs on comic-games. I don't even -like- OCs on comic games.

Most of the complaints I hear about comic-games relate to OC-furries and OC-mutant teenagers.

@Sunny The game is really what you make it out to be. Its not following a set comic-book-storyline. Its going its own route. So you really can be as creative as you like, within reason.

If the Staff feels you're doing something too absurd, they'll not let it happen. But they're a really nice bunch who want everyone to have fun.

@Misadventure They're stored in text, format...? I really don't know how to answer this, sorry.

I'm pretty sure @Misadventure was (probably being obtuse) asking if you guys had any sort of numerical/mechanic system to help resolve disputes/conflicts. Everybody who plays comic-fu and most who don't are aware that most comic games these days just do trait descriptions.

    • RE: Witcher MUSH Brainstorm (SPOILERS)

On the topic of advancement, there'd probably need to be X (small) amount of XP auto gained each week, with the possibility of Y (maybe 3/4/5 times as much as X to be gained via Doing Stuff) and capping the amount you could gain. But maybe letting people farm gold or crafting materials as much as they wanted.

I know that Kingdom Hearts MUSH and Super Robot Wars MUSH have 'coded' combat, but yeah, it's not very detailed at all. Hell, even Firan's coded combat wasn't all that detailed.

I am 100% code illiterate, so I wonder how hard it'd be to code some sort of rudimentary Final Fantasy Tactics-esque grid or something. I know the d20 Star Wars games have a pretty fancy +map system (it's only for looking at though), but I don't know if it'd be possible to code a game to factor in stuff on it. Like if I have a sword, my token has to be next to the goblin's to hit it. But if I have a spear, I can hit it from 2 squares away.

    • RE: Witcher MUSH Brainstorm (SPOILERS)

@Bobotron had an idea about something like that, when he was kicking around the idea of a Log Horizon/SAO-esque MMO type MUSH. I really like the idea of it, and possibly an inventory/equipment/money/etc system but I'm not sure how you'd handle it. Edit : Note, a far more detailed/interactive inventory/etc than WoD MU*s have, before somebody mentions that system.

      @Alzie

      On a side note.

I was under the impression that Civilian status does in fact mean nothing will happen to you, but also that you aren't supposed to be starting shit and can't be involved in certain things like politics/territory?

I thought the one between Civilian and Political (I forget what it was called), is the one where you might not be killed, but you might be X instead?

    • RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift

The big divide between MUD/MUSH that is never going to get bridged, is how RP happens.

Firan had mud-style RP. No other MUSH/MUX really does. You don't walk around the grid, run into people and say hi.

    • RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift

Yeah, people can die on most WoD MUSHes against their wishes. It just rarely happens because MUSHes have that transparency that MUDs lack, so it gets out OOCly and usually pretty quickly, and the PKer kind of gets branded as an 'asshole' and people start avoiding them.

    • RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift

On the topic of automated combat, I really loved Firan's last version of combat code. It was automated, but it still gave you like a minute (or you could double/triple/etc the timers for big events like Gladiator matches) between your attacks, to pose something every other attack or so.

I think the reason MUSHers generally frown at a MUD's idea of combat, is likely because there is no RP involved once you hit 'kill joe', because combat is too quickly paced and can even be over in a matter of seconds.

Although yes, the lingo is different. I remember thinking when I made the jump to MUSH that "tiny sex" was a hilarious term.

That, and the fact that every MUSH had a newsfile about TinySex. It was always just 'mudsex' and I had never seen it like..officially discussed or mentioned in rules or anything.
