@lithium We took over a military fort, and ringed it with upgraded spikes, the big ones. Fairly effective! Heat generation is where we had issues. So we planted a 5 deep forest around us next. had to back it off the walls to maintain a killing field. So far, so good. But if you do a mountain, let us know?

@jaded I hope they fixed the save problem! I love the dev's for Endless Space, but nothing worse than losing hours of gameplay from a save glitch.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@auspice Sorry. But if I continually suggested to those under me I am responsible for, that if someone does not understand a certain comment that they are "stupid" or "obtuse", its beyond attacking an idea or concept, and I'd be in deep shit.
You suggested only YOUR concept is the appropriate one. And as a member of the board, that is your right! However, when your fellow moderator jumps on the rest of us disagreeing with your concept, and being labeled as stupid for not appreciating/understanding it?
We all bitch about dog-piles, and it doesn't matter if there is only 3 mods, or 30. Not calling this shit out publicly, like any other member of the boards suggests being complacent with behavior. Now were this a work place? then by all means pulling someone aside privately would be more appropriate.
Some folks apparently need to be reminded. This is not a work place. This is a discussion forum on the internet!

MOD VOICE
I think we're treading away from being helpful. Let's go back to talking about ways we can fix moderating.
As I said, we're working on things. Arkandel has asked me to prepare a "Rules of Engagement v 2.0" for the forum. The draft is made and being wrangled over. Part of it includes something on this topic.
Pointing out general spread insults is not helpful?
When discussing varying points of view, using words like "obtuse" to describe people isn't helpful either. It suggests, flatly, that only the moderator opinions count from now on. Something you all are trying to dance around and suggest you don't want.
Yet there it is, one mod says something that's not exactly on the mark, someone else calls it out, and bam! Oh look. Mod voice. Everyone not agreeing with the mod is wrong.
So much for constructive criticism is approved.
You know, this whole thread is a dumpster fire at this point.

@insomnia Dear god, why is that shelter so PURPLE?!
Also, Day 55? Damn. How nightmarish are the zombies at that point? I found at Day 10 they become related to The Flash.

You, RL, may or may not know exactly how your phone works down to the circuits and signals and so on, but you do know how to call on it, tinker with an app, send a text, and so on.
Magic blue-black smoke and pixies.
I let my smoke out of the box... everything will be ok, right?

I think I've only had one scene with Denica, but found her hilariously awesome.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
@thatguythere I do the same thing with multidescer. Basic is just that, the unchanging things in a paragraph. Then I'd build on that for individual looks. Work, Shorts, Suit, etc etc.
I still try to look at everyone because, I too am old and set in my way, and wish the kids would get off my lawn. I used to actually keep a file per game, with descs and names. Mostly to remember who was who, including noting if the charname wasn't the name given me (PC Blake, Introduced himself as Ghost Dog), etc. Sometimes adding what and where met.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
@tempest My understanding was the gun belt had been referenced in pose more than once. Hell the SHORT desc included the uniform.
Here's the thing, why require descs and not require people to look at them?
As for the days of the OOC Masq, yup. Pile on me, I'm one that misses it. There was something to be said for being completely unaware that some innocent looking kid was the real monster you should have been watching instead of the large hulking vanilla mortal. Not knowing had it's own brand of fun. Figuring things out for yourself isn't always a bad thing.
I'm not saying that the wiki side isn't useful for getting RP together, but I didn't see RP lacking in the ooc-masq side days either. If anything I still feel the RP overall was a better quality. That's my opinion.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
@faraday To clarify on the lack of search function comment, Arx has a true website, not a wiki.
As for PB's, when I started playing it wasn't a thing back then. Occasionally someone may mention who they had in mind but that was about it.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
@three-eyed-crow Many have been fairly solid, but I randomly eyeball the change logs is when I notice them most times. Sometimes folks forget to purge the bots presence from there.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
I'd rather see things on the MU*. Honestly I feel that wiki's have killed a lot of what our hobby is, not enhanced it.
Does anyone even look at desc's anymore? My favorite is someone not looking at the desc of a police PC, who was clearly desc'd in uniform and did not have a wiki yet. Someone was stupid in front of said cop PC and then freaked out OOC because "I had no way of knowing you're a cop".
Nothing is secret because, well, wiki. There's no sense of wonder, it's hard to enjoy that suspension of belief sometimes because everything is on the wiki about PC's.
I'm not completely anti-wiki. If you have a lot of theme stuff, background story etc etc as a game. Then a wiki is great for that. Take Arx for example, massive amounts of lore and things to know... NO SEARCH FUNCTION.
Wiki's make for a good friendly way for new folks to view the game, absolutely. You know how to log in the game, maybe a chargen guide is up. Things like that are not so bad.
For the most part, it's just simpler to keep it all in game. Oh, and well, less bots posting dumb shit on a MU*, unlike wiki's.

RE: Swashbuckling and continued success
I have managed to pull off ye olde swash and buckle here and there. PFS actually was the most recent and worked out. Though its easier when
you fuck upTHE DICE FUCK YOU, to turn Ha-HAA! into a scream of Ha-H-AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! -
RE: High Fantasy
@Ominous This precisely is why I left my local PFS group. There was little RPG to it at the end.
That and the DM was like the nicest guy ever, with no spine. So when it came to people talking over him, or doing other shit at the table? Constantly "Whats going on?" from players. Grrr. Oh Well. I'll find a group someday. -
RE: Things We Should Have Learned Sooner
@Admiral Into the Motherland the German Army March!....
I need to see them live, caught them on a live clip and they made fun of miller beer in Russia. I was amused.
