    • RE: Good TV

I told myself I wasn't going to get CBS All Access. I refused to give them my money.

And then I read the initial reviews on Picard. And I realized, I couldn't deny the fact that I had been asking for this very show, for years. Finally something that goes further into the Prime timelines post ST Nemesis. Which is exactly what I've been asking for so goddamn long.

And it did not disappoint. I feel vindicated in how many references I understood from the number of times I watched TNG in its entirety. Looking in Picard's vault made me squeal in a way I am not ashamed of.

I passed on Discovery because I think it's a load of bullshit which abused and disrespected so much of Star Trek's lore(Klingons, spore drive for starters).

Firmly believe that Star Trek has righted it's current course with Picard. It's like everyone involved understands what has been established in the past from previous movies/shows and respects while also playing on and continuing from the last point.

I will watch the shit out of this. I haven't been this excited for something Star Trek related in....hell, a very very long time. Probably not since the premier of the last season of DS9? And then I'll probably watch the new Twilight Zone before ditching the subscription. All Access will get my money for now. And like with how I ditched Disney+ after I finished watching The Mandalorian, I'll do the same here.

@Ganymede Mass Effect is dead and buried, despite whatever Casey Hudson does to piss on the ashes.

At this point I dont even want another game, and i even liked Andromeda. For what it was at least.

    • RE: Well, this sums up why I RP

I don't have any kind of pseudo-intellectual reasoning for why I RP. Or some super deeply meaningful philosophical outlook on it.

I do it because I enjoy it.

And because I'm currently between DnD campaigns.

So I'm not going to repeat what @Auspice says on Bon Appetite and Binging with Babish. They're excellent and they're in my feed. ETA, oh and I also love Lockpicking Lawyer and Alec Steele.

So I'll list some that I enjoy.

      Food
How to Drink - humorous take on drinks and drink recipes. Once and a while he'll do a historic take, which I enjoy
Educated Barfly - for the same reason as above but more informational
      Bon Appetite
      Binging with Babish

      Gaming
YongYea - I truly believe when it comes to any impartial gaming news and reviews, YongYea is the gold standard for anything going on in the gaming industry. It's my personal CNN of gaming news.
Jim Sterling - I view him as the Andy Roony of the games industry. His editorials on the excessive greed and over indulgence in the games industry is fascinating. From the take-downs of microtransactions and live services, to pretty scathing exposes on major game companies, I enjoy his content.
ICARUSLIV3S - A gaming channel solely devoted to Doom mods. As in the Doom from 1992. Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, Wolfenstein, Hexen, and stuff in between. He's one of the very few youtubers who does reviews of Doom .wads.
ReviewTech USA - Basically, an gaming news site for old gamers like myself (35+ range. Sometimes Rich will actually review something. Other times it's about nipples and cucumbers)

      Other
Donut Media - Pretty much a channel about car history, car modding, and high performance. I watch mostly for wish fulfillment. And it's funny.
Dr Sandra Lee - Doctor Pimple Popper. Because I find that shit way too satisfying to watch.
Toe Bro - See above, but in relation to toes and feet medical issues that I also find super fascinating to watch.
Steve1989MREInfo - Watch a brave man eat old MRE from as old as the Civil fucking War. Also super interesting and insightful. Nice.

    • RE: MU Things I Love

I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been allowed or asked to really impact someone's RP in a seriously meaningful way, and the outpouring of thanks I got from that had me taken aback.

Someone came to me in last couple of days, their character looking to ask mine for advice and possibly direction. I, who am not exactly used to playing a leadership character in any serious way, agreed but internally I was seriously worried about not being able to help. Or worse, my help wouldn't be all that helpful.

During the agreed upon scene, I ended up paging a few other people asking for my own advice and spitballing ways that would make future RP for the character that came to me meaningful and enriching. The idea I came up with was refined by the people I spoke and once I set down what I thought they should do, after the scene they said they were very thankful for it.

I don't get that feeling very often. That sense of reward and accomplishment in doing something beneficial. Or at least, I don't hear about it. I'm really happy I was able to foster character development and good RP for another player.

That is, to me, one of the few reasons I still stick around this hobby.

@Sunny That's when I run an experiment to find out who is eating my food.

      Like making something dangerously spicy.

Or with a lot of laxatives.

@Kanye-Qwest People who are so depressed they operate on automatic pilot and just go through the motions. Because one grey, bland day is just the same as any other grey bland day in the monotony of a life without meaning, in world that is ultimately uncaring.

I've done a lot of things I honestly can't recall when it got that bad. Things bought and food made that I don't honestly remember doing the day/night before.

I still don't remember a lot from those times. It's all a colorless blur.

      1 can of refried beans
1 small can of diced green chiles
shredded cheese(personally go with cheddar, but most works just as well)
Heat in pot so everything blends together
Tortilla or straight of the bowl if you're looking to be somewhat carb smart
DRENCH WITH BAJA SAUCE FROM TACO BELL THAT YOU CAN BUY IN BOTTLES NOW

Consume like the disgusting piece of shit that you are.
