I have been around forever but never really involved with the main things going on just sorta always on the edge of things so I am "that guy that is sort of there." but that is long as hell so it is "thatguythere" I use it here and a wrestling board and a Big Brother board.

, I want to get in, roll the dice, and get out so that I may RP about it later. I personally would be happy if it was, "I attack, swish, man my character just slipped on the slime hahaha" and then de-construct the scene after the fact, but I realize this is my Tabletop RP showing and not what most Mushers want.
This is pretty much my desired form for combats as well, while we are dealing with the mechanics less focus on them, and then once that is done we can make with the pretty writing again.
I will say my favorite and likely best written combat scenes are the ones where we diced it all first then posed up the scene using the diced results . -

First I tend to discount anything that comes from the principles in things like this so I don't believe he got no offers. NO almost definitely offered him more than he got but he also refused to extend with them in the past so I didn't expect him to stay there, and what NO has said they offered him wasn't much better given it consisted of team options after the first year.
They way I read the Lakers thing was that it was the Cousins side going to them and being shot down which is a bit different than just not making an offer. -
RE: The Basketball Thread
Double post but on a different topic and because I love the to rub salt into wounds.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, The Lakers had the chance to sign Cousins to the same deal the Warriors did but passed on it. -

You don't do that to the team who drafted you;
But he hasn't done anything to the Pacers.

P.S. One bit of advice that most people will overlook, and not apply is the fact that a PrP/Scene/Event/Plot does not need to begin in the setup phases. You can start players right in the action and skip 1-3 hours of 'setup' RP where everyone is getting to the scene, or preparing etc.
I agree with @Arkandel, if you are doing this let folks know. If it is part of a pre-existing plot where RP along the story has happened it is no big deal if you go directly to the combat, but if it is a show up beat up monster kind of one shot then skipping the getting to the fight RP pretty much turns it into a video game with not visuals to me. I know most won't agree with me but I would much rather have the preamble RP in the scene and the fight part quickly summed up or cut than vice versa simply because the fights tend to be anti-climactic since in most one shot PRPs there are no stakes.

RE: The Basketball Thread
the only reported offer I have heard that was anywhere close to what an All-Star contract should be was from the Pelicans to keep him. If he didn't want to stay there and was going to be underpaid anywhere else, might as well go with the best non-monetary option.

I tend to look at it from a perpendicular angle than yours, I tend to hate the whole championships equal greatness argument when it comes to teams sports. So I always want the there to be at least one ahh hell now that dude is a champion on every winning roster. For me Boogie is one of those guys, also with the other pair I mentioned. -
RE: The Basketball Thread
Cousins just went to GS, I officially want them to win again now, just so that the seam dynasty will have given us JaVale McGee, Swaggy P, and Boogie Cousins as NBA champs.

I loved seeing Gods and Generals in the theatre, but I also went with a bunch of other history folks.
Edit to add: I also second the thank god for the intermission. -

I think the East will come down to Philly or Boston for a while after this year, both are stocked with young talent.
Right now I am thinking Raptors have a good change to go through this year, their personal destroyer has left the field and this would be the best shot while Philly is still growing and Boston adjusting since it will be the first season with Hayward, (I am not counting the five minutes they had him last year.)
West I still have to thing GS, they have won enough it is like LeBron was in the East, I will believe they will lose when it actually happens not before. -

LeBron is a Laker. Yay
This is a yay simply because it makes it possible for me to cheer for GS in one round of the playoffs since the Lakers are the only team in the west that I would make that call on.

Upvoted for the shot at Michael Bay at the end, good god i have never been so disappointed in a movie as I was with the first Transformers one. I am fine with the changed they made to the Transformers themselves and the story but what I don't want in my movie about Giant Robot Shooting Each Other is for it to spend far more time on Teen Love Story than the aforementioned giant robots shooting. -

The news about Paul George is exactly why I think the Spurs should take less to send Kawhi to the East if they trade him. Last off season it was all about how Paul George wanted to be a Laker, this year when he had the chance after being in a place for a year he ended up re-upping with OKC, lots can change in a year so I would take the long shot and not help a direct head to head rival build a super team. -

Those rings LeBron is collecting are stacking up. Winning!
Interesting argument to use in support of Harden who has fewer rings (three being greater than zero) and has only made the finals once when he was a clear third option on the team.

. Same reason Pop didn't win Coach of the Year almost every year.
The true injustice this year for Coach of the Year is Brad Stevens not even getting a vote.

RE: The Basketball Thread
@arkandel
They are not winning this year that is true, but you were just mentioning how the Lakers should look two to three years in the future and that holds true for the rest of the league as well. I would do all I could to avoid helping a team I will have to face from now til LeBron retired in what 6 or more years?
Does holding onto Kawhi make the Lakers a less attractive destination for the other big names? that becomes the important question. Which is one we can speculate on but never know the true answer. And I will agree that Ingram and Kuzma + at least two first rounders might make me pull the trigger on the deal is that what the Lakers are offering? All we have heard are that talks have taken place no details from people involved just a lot of speculation as to the pieces. -
RE: The Basketball Thread
You won't get anything close to fair now, the reality of the NBA is that if you are trading a top-5 player the only thing that is really an equal return would be another top 5 player which is not gonna happen in this case.
There is no collection of asset that the Lakers have that equals Kawhi since getting Kawhi and by extension possibly LeBron will massively devalue any draft picks they offer. So any deal with them makes your direct competition better.
You are better off to me taking a bit less immediately sending him East for a year, which then gives a non-lakers team time to woo him into staying and a financial advantage in resigning him next summer, at the very least you delay the Lakers in a year and in the NBA landscape a lot can happen in that year.
Note my reasoning would be completely different if the Spurs were in the East then my call would be to get the best you can now and rebuild as quickly as you can moving on. -
RE: The Basketball Thread
I still think if I was Pop or Buford I would wait until free agency to trade Kawhi unless you get a ridiculous offer, after all no one can really offer fair value for him anyway given his talent so hang on to him to at least slow the development of any other superteam in the west. Because someone will think they can turn him into a ring near the trade deadline and you can still get something for him then.

RE: The Basketball Thread
Also I am not sure that a LeBron, PG, Kawhi big three that you have to gut the roster to get this season even get you past Houston. The Rockets did take the Warriors to seven, not discounting the greatness of LeBron at all but as much as I dislike the style the Rockets played and the Flopping Beard in general the should not be seen as a definite out by anybody.
